For 16 years, The Civilians has brought unexpected stories to the stage. Our curiosity about the world has taken us from a women’s prison in Bogotá to Evangelical churches in Colorado Springs to youth hockey leagues in the Minnesota. For our seventeenth season, our artists are in high gear: we have eight pieces in development; have launched partnerships with New York University, Duke and Children’s Theater Company; and continue to push the boundaries of theater in terms of form (with innovative technology both in the theater and online) and content (from 1970’s Times Square to questions about mortality).
