Mater Dei (CA) Head Coach : Gary McKnight 2021-22 Record: 26-5 Overview
Mater Dei’s rich tradition cannot be denied. Under coach Gary McKnight, Mater Dei has won a National Championship in 2013-14, 11 State Titles, 16 Southern California Regional Titles, 23 CIF-SS Titles, and 39 League Titles in 40 seasons at the helm. After a loss to Bishop Montgomery in the CIF SoCal Regional a season ago, national powerhouse Mater Dei will look to add on to their legacy in the 2022-23 season.
Player Spotlight 2024 guard Scotty Belnap will lead the way for the Monarchs. Belnap is a 6’5 shooting guard known for being an elite shooter from the outside. He has deep range with an ultra smooth release. He is great off the catch and coming off screens, but also knows how to get his shot off of attacking a close out. Belnap is also athletic and agile enough to finish at the rim off straight line drives. He is currently being recruited by schools like BYU and Utah State.
