PF wrangles: Is TB Joshua’s prophecy coming to pass?

F

By CECILIA JERE OLLOWING the death of President Michael Sata last month, the ruling Patriotic Front has reportedly been engulfed in a succession wrangle, a development that appears to lend some credence to a prophecy made early this year by controversial Nigerian clergyman Prophet TB Joshua. On February 9 this year, the Nigerian cleric spoke in a church service broadcast live via popular Christian television station Emmanuel TV that there would be succession disputes in two Southern African nations due to illness and death of sitting presidents. He however never mentioned the names of those countries. “Two of the nations there (Southern Africa) will face a leadership tussle because of sicknesses and disease,” the clergyman told his fully packed church based in Lagos. Further, prophet TB Joshua warned leaders in general to desist from playing politics when it comes to the things of God, stressing the repercussions were severe. “When it comes to religion and Christianity – don’t play politics. You can’t play politics with God unless you want to destroy yourself. Politics is a game but there is a limit.” Although Prophet TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All

Nations (SCOAN) is yet to confirm if the prophecy in question was refereeing to Zambia, some Zambians think the prophecy was directed at Zambia and its neighboring Zimbabwe. “We have been having these leadership disputes in the PF from the time it was first rumored that the president’s health was falling. By the time he died, it has become worse. So, you can easily guess that the prophet was talking about Zambia and the other country is Zimbabwe. Robert Mugabe is sick. His wife, the vice president and other ministers are at each other’s necks right now,” argued Michael Kaleji on a Facebook forum. Last week, PF cadres and students ran amok protesting the firing of PF Secretary General Edgar Lungu by acting president Guy Scott. The protests only came to an end after Hon Lungu was reinstated. The firing of Hon Lungu, according to some political commentators and analysts, was a confirmation of the existence of factions in the ruling PF. Analysts believe the PF has a certain faction which those opposed to it call ‘The Cartel’ or ‘A-team’ and another which some of the members of ‘The Cartel’ are refereeing to as ‘The Clique.’ It is believed these groups are the two main factions involved in the PF suc-

cession dispute and it is being suggested they may resort to violence in their bid to seize power. It is against this background that the church in the country has since the death of President Sata implored the ruling PF to resolve succession issues amicably saying failure to do so may result into widespread violence in the country. Among those calling for calm in the PF include a Chingola based clergyman Bishop Joseph Kazhila of Life Gospel Ministries. Writing on his Facebook page last week, Bishop Kazhila noted: “ Zambia is in danger

of a dangerous civil strife (whose fire may be hard to quench) because of unhealthy divisions in the leadership of Pf. Uyu emusebanya (This is an embarrassment), and it’s unAfrican and un-Christian too for people to be jostling for portfolios and positions just soon after a demise of a people’s leader. Hey! LORD help us.” The clergyman also appealed to believers to seek God’s intervention on the matter. “There ‘s no doubt that these guys faked loyalty to the man (President Sata) but their fruit has exposed them. No, please the nation is mourning and it’s not time for the so called car-

tels in various groupings and/ or those acting in positions of authority to be flexing their muscles by firing or hiring others resulting in riots by cadres. Please all believers in Christ let us save Zambia by seeking the LORD through prayer to save our nation. God can and God will when we trust Him. Let us look to Him and not to men for a long lasting solution. Forever, Zambia for Jesus,” he said. And an Anglican priest Bishop William Muchombo in his homily at Chipata’s St Annes Cathedral last weekend advised the politicians to be patient and resolve their succession issues amicably.

By CLEOPATRA TEMBO MMD president Pastor Nevers Mumba says Archbishop Emeritus James Mwewa Spaita, the Catholic priest who died last week served his church and the community with dignity and honour. And opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema says he has learnt with shock, the death of Archbishop Spaita. Meanwhile, former President

Rupiah Banda has described the late Archbishop Spaita as a man who led an exemplary life worth emulating. Archbishop Spaita, 80, was ordained as priest in 1962. He was appointed Bishop of Mansa in 1974, became Archbishop of Kasama in 1990 and retired in 2009. Archbishop Spaita died on November 4, 2014, at the age of 80, at Kasama General Hospital after an illness. He was buried on November 7 in Kasama. In a statement to The Church Newspaper, Mr. Hichilema expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Spaita family and the Catholic Church countrywide. Mr. Hichilema said Archbishop Spaita was involved in many national issues and he has run his race. He said the deceased clergyman stood for social justice and carried out his pursuit with conviction. Mr. Hichilema noted that it would therefore be a fitting tribute to Archbishop Spaita if the nation upholds the justice he stood for. And former president Banda

said Archbishop Spaita was a humble servant of God who dedicated his entire life to the salvation of humankind. Mr Banda expressed hope that Zambians will continue to follow the path the late clergy man set by aspiring to live in accordance with biblical principles. Mr. Banda said this in a message of condolences to Archbishop of Kasama Ignatius Chama and the Catholic Church in Zambia which was made available to The Church Newspaper. And the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) said it has learnt with shock and utmost regret the demise of Archbishop Spaita. Its leaders Pastor Mumba told The Church Newsaper that Archbishop Spaita served his church and the community with dignity and honour. Dr. Mumba said Archbishop Spaita was dearly loved by his congregation. He said that the party was conveying its deepest condolences to the family of Archbishop Spaita and the Catholic Church in Zambia.

THE Pastors’ Fellowship of Kawambwa district in Luapula province has called on the clergy in the area to promote love, peace and unity during and after the funeral of the late President Michael Sata. Pastors Fellowship chairperson Humphrey Mzumara made the call during the interdenominational prayer preparatory meeting for Mr Sata’s funeral held in the District Commissioner’s office.Pastor Mzumara said the clergy are there not to promote disunity hence the need for them to depend on God in praying for love, peace and unity among

the people during and after the mourning period. He said there will be a lot of talking and discussions among some people following the death of President Sata but that the clergy should stand in the gap and continue praying for love, peace and unity. Speaking at the same meeting Kawambwa District Commissioner Ivo Mpasa implored all the people in the area to mourn President Sata with dignity. However, Mr Mpasa noted that the clergy were the king makers emphasizing the need for them to continue praying for love, peace, and unity.

CLERGYMAN of Mbala in Northern Province says although the security situation in the country in the next 3 months maybe slightly precarious, Zambians and investors should not worry because God is still in control. The clergyman Rev Maybin Mulenga of the United Church of Zambia has also advised the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party and opposition political leaders to seek the hand of God in choosing the successor who would be able to carry on the vision the late President Sata had for the country. Speaking in his Sunday service

The Church, Sunday November 9-16,2014

sermon, Rev Mulenga urged Zambians to take the position of peace-makers and remain

steadfast as the country faces 3 months in the international limelight with some “nosey”

foreign journalists looking out for anything that appears to suggest a pending civil strife.

In his sermon titled, “God Is In Control”, Rev. Mulenga urged politicians to put their differences aside as the country awaits the peaceful and smooth transition of electing a new Republican President after 90 days following the death of President Sata. He said as the country goes through yet another trying moment some politicians with selfish motives may take advantage of the situation to sow seeds of disunity and chaos. Rev. Mulenga said with God in control of every situation, the country will be able to pull

through adding that people in the business community should not slow down their business operations for fear of the unknown during this period. Last week following riots by PF cadres to press for the reinstatement of PF Secretary General Edgar Lungu, negative news reports about Zambia’s security situation flooded the international media- a development that prompted some international observers to suggest that Zambia may be engulfed in chaos before, during or after the by-elections. Such reports however, according to some thinkers, normally have a negative bearing on the economy of the country. Analysts say even rumors of a pending civil strife in the country may cause the investors to either pull out or halt their business activities until such a time when the situation normalizes. This may lead to loss of income by ordinary Zambians and may also impact on foreign exchange. [Source: The Church Newspaper/ Zanis]

By GERALD MULEYA OME Christians have welcomed the conviction of local artist Robert Chunga, also known as ‘Bobby East’, and his co-accused Ruth Mukanga for producing obscene materials. Early last week, the Lusaka Magistrates Court had convicted the duo after they took fresh plea and admitted to the charges. Chunga, 25, and Mukanga a model aged 21, were charged with producing obscene matters. Senior resident magistrate Mwaka Mikalile convicted the duo after admitting they engaged in a sexual activity and later produced it using an Iphone before it went viral online. The statement of facts read in Court revealed that investigators went to Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA), where they watched the video and decided to apprehend the duo. Ms Mikalile had reserved sentencing of the two for Friday November 11, 2014 but by the time The Church Newspaper went to press, the judgment wasn’t yet delivered. The Church Newspaper last week went on the streets of Lusaka to talk to some young Christians who are also fans Bobby East. Most of them welcomed the conviction of the duo and interestingly, some also suggested what they felt would help in the rehabilitation of the two youngsters. One of them Juliet Kayaya suggested that Chunga and Ruth be made to undergo pastoral counseling adding that the two porn stars need God. “What those people did is very wrong. It was a very sinful act and I believe they need God. I think apart from the usual punishments that the courts give, those two should also be made to see a pastor for counseling. Those people need God,” she said.

That idea was seconded by Leone Tembo, a Evelyn Hone College student who felt that the only reason young people can involve themselves in pornography was because of lack of fear for the Lord. Another fan, a University of Zambia student demanded that the court should hand Chunga and his sex partner a custodial sentence as opposed to a fine.

“So far, the courts have set a very bad precedence. Last time during the Iris Kaingu case, after they found the two guilty, they only fined them instead of jailing them. I think this is what is causing other people especially students in colleges and Universities to also shoot pornography because they know that they simply be fined instead of being sent to jail,”

Tyler Perry talks importance of creating controversial Christian character in movie

By CHRISTINE THOMASOS TYLER Perry set out to make a character that was a controversial Christian in his hit OWN Network show, “The Haves and the Have Nots.” Perry,45, created the character Hanna Young as a Christian woman with a past full of promiscuity and a lot of unforgiveness and issues that result because of it. However, he recently spoke with the cast of his show and had a conversation with actress Crystal Fox about playing one of the most controversial characters he has ever created. “You are one of the most controversial characters I have ever written because she’s Christian,” Perry told Fox, according to Eurweb.com reports. “And lots of people, man. They are giving you, ‘What kind of Christian does not talk to their daughter? What kind of Christian does not tell her daughter where her son is?’” However, Perry explained why

he wanted to create Hanna for the show. “I did not want to write the perfect Christian—because I don’t know any. There was only one, and it was Jesus,” Perry said. “But on this earth, I feel like people have put so much emphasis on trying to be perfect that nobody wants to strive or even look towards Christianity. Everybody’s looking at everything else because the image of it is that you have to be perfect, which is not so. It is not so.” He continued, “it is a process, it is about being the best you can be, and being as strong as you can be to grow through whatever you’re going through.” In an interview with Beliefnet. com almost a decade ago, Perry spoke about the importance of his Christian faith. “It is extremely important. I am a Christian, I am a believer, and I know had I not been a person of faith, I couldn’t be here in this place,

and I wouldn’t be walking the path that I’m on now,” Perry said. “And I think the greater good of the path I’m on now is to teach people to learn to forgive and move on, in a way that’s done through the healing power of humor.” [Source:The Christian Post]

a very religious background,” the Grammy-award winning songstress told Larry King in 2003. “I trust God, I love God, and I love the thoughts of it. Even if there was no God, I’d prefer to believe it, because I prefer to believe in something greater than we are. It takes all of the pressure off of you. You don’t have a bunch of ego problems.” Now Parton has spoken about her fans, which include LGBT persons. In addition to stating that Dollywood is a place for “all families,” she went on to state that she “loves and accepts”

Singer Dolly Parton implores Christians not to be judgmental

By SAMI MARTIN COUNTRY music icon Dolly Parton recently gave an interview in which she explained that she “loved and accepted” her lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender fans and urged fellow Christians not to judge anyone. Parton was asked how she felt about the iconic Dollywood being a place that attracts all types of fans from church groups, to gays and lesbians. She reacted with a message for Christians.“It’s a place for entertainment, a place for all families, period,” Parton

all of her fans. “They know that I completely love and accept them, as I do all people. I’ve struggled enough in my life to be appreciated and understood,” Parton said. “I’ve had to go against all kinds of people through the years just to be myself. I think everybody should be allowed to be who they are, and to love who they love. I don’t think we should be judgmental. Lord, I’ve got enough problems of my own to pass judgment on somebody else.” [Source:The Christian Post]

By Fr. Elpidius Kalyepe RECALL a story narrated to me by my Uncle Fr. Patrick Simutowe about a Man who had a beautiful Botanical garden by the road. Service men receive the casket of President Michael Sata (who is also shown right) at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Saturday November 1.

A beautiful flower snatched from us by ‘Ba Mwine’: tribute to Sata take pictures in front of that flower, when I graduate I will take pictures in front of that flower and so on and so forth. Little did they know that the owner of the garden also loved the flower so much that he too had plans for it. One night he ordered the farm manager to uproot the flower from the garden and plant it into a tin and relocate it right into his house for him to behold it daily. As people woke up, they found their adored flower gone. They roughed up the manager thinking he sold it illegally or did not care about their plans. Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata was that outstanding beautiful flower that sprout up on this earth (garden). We had plans for him as a nation, as family, as friends. The normal human tendency

is to try to hold on to what we love. Personally, I would have loved to hold on to him because I have known him since 2005 as a generous, God fearing man with a memory of an elephant. He has been there for me on important events of my life since then. He was there to celebrate my Vows as a Jesuit in Kamanga Parish and was with my family in 2011 at the solemnization of my parents’ marriage in Mbala, to mention but a few. His loyalty to friends cannot be equaled. When I moved to Nairobi, I thought I would not be in touch with him when he was elected president with all the security and protocols surrounding him, only to get a call on a strange number one day, but with a familiar guttural voice at the end “Ba Father, this is Michael Sata,

call me on this number whenever you have time” and he hung up. Last year when I visited him in Statehouse congratulating him for all the infrastructure development, he quickly responded, “it is you men and women of God we should be grateful to for your prayers, because without your prayers, we cannot achieve anything.” That was the man. The “King Cobra” thing was just a self-defense for his soft heart. Mr. Sata had a very soft heart that he knew would easily be abused, so to defend himself, he appeared rough and threatening. Those who got close to him will attest to his magnanimity. All this just shows how personally I would want to hung on to him. But lo and behold, on the

night of 28th October, God uprooted this lovely flower into his house to behold him face-to-face. We woke up to the rude shock that the flower was not there. However, we do not need to blame his handlers (“farm managers” as in The First Lady, close family, Doctors, advisers among others) that if they did this or that he would have not left us. No blame game needed, let us stay together as a nation, maintaining the peace and unity for which we are known world over, and give him a befitting sendoff. He was a warrior who never wanted to leave the battlefront guided by his tribe’s aphorism “umwaume tafwa nomufwi panuma.”(Literally translated, a man does not die with a spear at his back) He died with a spear on his

chest, facing the war of corruption, hunger and poverty. Mr. Sata, the lord who gave you to us has called you to himself, who are we to fight him, as the Bemba’s say “takalwilwa na mwine.”(You don’t fight with the owner, and Ba Kaponya would put it more graphically, “Ba Mwine ba Zebigge naba getta”). Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata, we loved you, but God loved you more. Fare thee well, it is well with your soul, enjoy the face-toface encounter with your creator (Ba Mwine as it were), till we meet again. ************** The author,Fr. Here is just some of the classic responses some journalists got from the man of action during his years as a politician: In 2011, when there was concern on the expensive campaign the MMD mounted and fears of vote buying, he only had one response; 1. “If they give you money get it and chew, it’s your money, umulembwe we shilu baunwa ilyo lyapena.” **************** 2. Why not leave it for the young ones. Until you stop I will not stop. **************** 3. In early 2014 while some sections of the community were complaining about the current constitution not being people driven,

President Sata at State House responded “And for all of you here, ask the most learned woman here, Madam Chibesakunda. You are always saying people driven constitution, people driven constitution. Madam, where do you have an animal driven constitution?” He added, “Have you ever seen an animal driven constitution, which country because everybody is talking of people driven constitution, so once you produce the animal driven one, let’s ask Mr Phiri, once you produce the animal driven constitution, we compare the two constitutions, what we have and then we shall look at that.”

UCH is being preached, taught, and written right now about the marriage relationship, and for good reason. As someone who is daily in close proximity to thousands of adults, college students, and teenagers, it’s more than alarmist propaganda to say that relationships are in trouble across the board. So instead of listing all the contributing factors that are leading to the demise of personal human relationships, I would rather offer a handful of helpful hints at how a man can lead the charge in his own home toward a more robust and loving relationship with his wife (women, you can lead, too...but my experience has been that the man sets the emotional tone of the relationship by how well or

5 practical ways 3 to love your wife how poorly he takes initiative). Here are some simple places to start. . Pay Attention Common sense, boys. Your wife is giving you a steady stream of information, 24 hours a day, about who she is and what she needs and how she feels. Turn off your phone, watch Super Sport 3 later, and watch her. Listen to her. Observe her day, the things that cause her stress and the things that bring her joy and the things that frustrate

the home. The most common practical thing wives say they would appreciate from their man is a helping hand around the house. Wash the dishes. Fold the laundry. reducing lesions. Whereas benzoyl peroxide works quicker than tea tree oil, tea tree oil produces less side effects in patients. Use egg oil. Egg yolk oil contains immunoglobulins which kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. The Omega-3 fatty acids help naturally heal pimples without leaving scars. Apply egg oil on the acne affected area twice a day, massaging gently for 2-3 minutes. Leave it on for an hour and then wash it off with a mild facewash. Continue use until the pimple is completely healed and continuous (unbroken), healthy skin appears. Stopping mid-way may cause the acne to spread again. Slice a raw potato and apply to skin. Slice a raw potato in half and apply onto acne. Raw potato can heal as well as act an anti-inflammatory. Again, wash the residue off your skin gently with water after using. Make a honey mask. Apply raw honey directly onto your face, or mix it with a little bit of water or green tea. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes for optimal absorption. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat your face dry. Always apply moisturizer after rinsing off a mask. Part 2 of 4: Using Home

Remedies Apply alum to the pimples. Potassium alum can usually be found in the spice aisle in some grocery stores. Although widely used as a natural deodorant and styptic (lessens bleeding after a cut), alum is a natural antiseptic and astringent, meaning that it shrinks skin tissue. Try to get a big block instead of in powder form. Powdered alum can be a little too abrasive. Gently wipe the alum over the affected areas, being careful not to irritate or inflame any pimples. Crush up some aspirin and use it as a paste. Aspirin has acetylsalicylic acid in it, which is similar (though not identical) to the salicylic acid used in most topical acne treatments use to bust up acne-causing bacteria. Salicylic acid dries out pimples and fights the bacteria simultaneously, while acetylsalicylic acid offers similar skin softening effects. Crush up a pill or two of aspirin and mix it with just enough water to form a paste, as you might have done with the baking soda. With a Q-Tip or your hands, apply the paste onto individual pimples, leaving to dry. Wash your face thoroughly afterwards. The confusion about the variety of salicylic acid in aspirin has led to lots of confusion and disagreement about the

2 How to heal acne fast and naturally NOBODY wants acne, and nobody likes being embarrassed about their skin. You deserve better, and learning to properly care for your skin and heal properly doesn’t need to be complicated. While it’s impossible to clear up acne overnight, there are a number of things you can do to improve your skin drastically and quickly, without further damaging your skin. While it’s important to use verifiable remedies instead of superstition, commercial acne treatment products are often expensive and chock-full of impossible to pronounce ingredients. Go natural and clear up your skin the right way. Part 1 of 4: Using Natural Remedies Use ice to close your pores and reduce inflammation. A lot of people with big pores like to take ice cubes and gently hold or rub them over their problem spots. Ice specifically, and cold in general, constricts the blood vessels underneath the skin, making the irritation or inflammation less noticeable. Use tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is a renowned anti-fungal and antibacterial herbal remedy, making it great for mild to moderate acne. In a study comparing the efficacy of tea tree oil and benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil proved just as effective in fighting acne and

efficacy of aspirin as a topic treatment. While it offers some black-head reduction and skin softening properties, it’s not the most effective acne treatment. Use caution if attempting this method. Try using a natural toothpaste with silica but without sodium lauryl sulfate. Sodium lauryl sulfate is a harsh chemical that’s also an irritant to some people. It’s best to avoid it, and any of the big, name-brand toothpastes, for that reason. Part 3 of 4: Improving Diet and Exercise Cut back on eating refined carbohydrates (bread, pasta, etc). Also, cut back on eating excessive sugar. A little natural sugar, such as found in fruits, is okay. Eat foods with probiotics. Probiotics are microorganisms that have beneficial effects when eaten. In other words, good germs! Fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha, goat cheese, or natural yogurt contain probiotics, but you can get probiotics by taking natural supplements with contain enzymes as well. Eat more veggies! A healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will give your body the energy it needs and won’t force it to metabolize junk that could lead to acne. An acne-free face and body starts with a healthy

diet. Replace sweet drinks in your diet with water and unsweetened teas. Your skin is an organ in your body, and like other organs, needs water to function properly. Give your body what it wants without the junk that it doesn’t. Shoot to drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day. Try drinking unsweetened green tea if you want a break from water. Unsweetened green tea contains antioxidants that keep your body healthy and may even increase lifespan. Move around. Getting great exercise is a natural way to fend off stress, which can cause acne. At the very least, shoot to get 30 minutes of walking in every day. Take a multivitamin each day. Make sure that you especially get enough vitamin A. Vitamin A will help your skin regenerate quicker, reduce wrinkles, and clear away spots and blemishes. Part 4 of 4: Washing Your Face and Other Tips Wash your face with soap twice daily, If you have oily skin. Follow these steps: Get the materials you need. You will need a mild facial soap (bar or liquid), clean hands, and a wash cloth. *The milder the soap the better-irritation will only cause more acne.(To be cont’d next week)

help. Then help her. . Verbally Affirm Her - Men are not known to be super-good at communicating how we feel, so this may be a bit difficult...but learn how to talk to her in positive ways with a loving tone. Affirm her as a person, as your wife, as a mom, and as a Christian. Tell her that you notice all of her hard work and that you appreciate her. Go beyond simple compliments (don’t stop giving them) and affirm her character. Become more aware of who she is and all that she does. Do those things with her. Tell her that she is a great woman, over and over again. Encourage her. . Ask Questions and Be Quiet - My wife tells me that she will have 12 different trains of thought running through her mind at any moment, so when I ask her how she is feeling, it gives her a chance to externalize all that is going on internally. Who better for your wife to share these things with than you, her husband? Pry into her business. Get nosey. Lean forward and stare at her face when she talks. And let her talk. Resist the urge to comment, offer advice, or fix her. She’s not a project, she’s a person. Ask lots of questions then listen and learn. . Get Her Away - You may think this is for her, but it’s for both of you. Nothing refreshes her soul or energizes her love for you like getting away for a few hours, overnight, or a few days with her husband. The pressure subsides. The to-do list disappears. The “re-set” button is pushed. So whether it’s dinner, a movie and a long walk in the woods or an overnite excursion to a lodge in the next town, spend the money on a babysitter and plan a getaway with your wife. Make these a habit and you will both begin to look forward to them like a kid anticipates Christmas. [Additional tips courtesy of Pastor Clayton King-http:// www.claytonking.com]

The Tamanga Section

N

OT too long ago on this section, I discussed the importance of building, a “circle of trust” around your business. I also shared with you how you can do this. This time around, I want to show you how building a circle of trust around our business Econet helped us to establish our cellular network in Lesotho despite us not having enough money to undertake the project. You see, Lesotho is a remarkable country: It is a small African country nestled in the majestic Drakensburg Mountains of Southern Africa. Uniquely, it is one of only three countries in the world, completely surrounded by another country; South Africa. And yet it is a fiercely independent and proud country, with its own constitutional king, who is greatly loved by his people. The moment, I arrived there for the first time, I fell in love with the people, and I said to my companion: “I could live here for ever.” In 2000, the then government of Lesotho, hired Price Waterhouse, the global financial advisory firm, and asked them to sell their public telephone company, known as Telecom Lesotho, in a public tendering process. The presence of Price Waterhouse, as advisors to the process gave bidders a lot of confidence, including ourselves. We knew it was going to be a tough, but transparent process, similar to what we had faced in Botswana. With two operations, under our belt; Zimbabwe, and Botswana, I was ready for a new adventure. Although Lesotho was a small country, with less than 2.5m, this would be quite a challenging venture, if we won: -Telecom Lesotho, was essentially bankrupt, and barely operating. Some of its facilities had been vandalised following a recent attempted coup. - we were required to buy 70%, of the company leaving the government with 30%. - the company did not have a cell phone operation, however we would be given a new

with a w i y i s a M e Striv license. Only problem was that one of best operators, in Africa (Vodacom), had already been in the market for 5 years, when we arrived! We had other challenges to overcome, before submitting a bid: - we did not qualify, even to participate, because although we had cell phone operations, in Botswana, and Zimbabwe, we had no experience in fixed line, telecommunications, and it was a pre-qualification requirement. - then there was the small matter of money; each bidder had to provide bank letters, to show they had the money, needed to buy the company, and recapitalize it, over five years. We bought a copy of the bid documents, and I sat down with my team. We studied every single line, making copious notes. We discussed every day, from morning to night. Personally, I meditated, and prayed, even as I studied. Often going for long walks, with the documents, in my hand. I drove to Lesotho, from Johannesburg South Africa, where I had recently moved with my family. I travelled in the country, incognito, with a small team. We studied

the country, the people. We asked questions, and wrote notes. Then we went back. We did it again and again. We bought books about the history of the country, and studied its economy and business environment. We spied on the target company and connected with local business people. Then my team, began to work on the bid documents, as we had done on Botswana. I hired as consultants, the best fixed line experts that I knew, in Africa. I focused my attention on dealing with the two issues, that we needed to overcome. We needed partners who could provide two things: - technical expertise in fixed line business and money. I also needed to find money for our own shares, otherwise, I would be doing all this for someone else! I knew I had to find what I have often, described, as an “insight”; I had to “see” something that was not immediately obvious: In my reading of what was happening in the industry, I came across an article, that said the British Electrical Power utility was planning to split its “signalling operations”,

and turn them, into an independent telephone company. As an engineer, I understood, exactly what it meant: I approached the signalling division of Africa’s largest power company: ESKOM of South Africa. They were already aware of this possibility, but were focused on South Africa. Having them, as a partner, would bring a lot of technical know how, but not public telephony experience, and we would not qualify. I said to them, if you get experience in Lesotho, you can then, build a much bigger business in South Africa. They saw the strategy. And agreed to work with us, if we could persuade a fixed line operator, to come on board, in a three way partnership. Eskom, had money, lots of money, and would be the majority shareholder: I did not mind, because that is business. As with Botswana, I approached a lot of operators around the world, but because Lesotho, is poor compared to Botswana, most were simply not interested. Eventually I persuaded Mauritius Telecom, to be our fixed line, technical partner. The Mauritians, did not want to invest significant

money, but were happy to join the “consortium”: We were almost ready to roll. Only I did not have money to pay for our own shares, and I was not going to beg my partners. I never ask my partners to fund me, in a venture. To understand, how I raised the money, you must go back and read the article, that I did on building, a “circle of trust” (published in the 84th edition of The Church newspaper- a fortnight ago) By the time, we entered the Lesotho bidding process, we had demonstrated in Botswana and Zimbabwe that given the opportunity, we had the competence, to build a cell phone network and to operate a successful business. We had also given business to equipment suppliers from all over the world, who knew we could be trusted. We had paid them on time, and we had worked well with them. Many of them, were now able to give us credit on equipment supply. I had also stuck to the same suppliers, as I do even to this day. Early in my business career, I had learnt about the importance of developing, “circles of trusts”, with other businesses. I went to one of our key international suppliers, (a global giant), and asked for a meeting with the Group Finance Director, based in Europe, an elderly gentleman. I was accompanied by the country manager of the supplier, who had flown with me from South Africa. We went to lunch and I said to the Finance Director of this giant company, “I need your advise. I have this amazing opportunity to be a partner with Eskom, and Mauritius Telecom, but I have no money to pay for my share.”

Then I added, softly: “I know you cannot lend me the money, but I just wanted to know, if you know someone who can?” He looked at me intently as I spoke. Then he asked, “how well are you doing, in your business?” I had come well prepared, I also knew I would be meeting a no-nonsense finance “guru”. So I handed him, our financials, complete with letters from our auditors. I had also prepared reference letters, from everyone who did business with me. I also made sure he got them, well in advance of the meeting. “Very impressive”, he said. Then he began to ask me questions, about our businesses, and my understanding of our operating environment. I was relaxed as I replied. After a while, he looked again, at me, and smiled: “You are right to say, that we are not able to lend you any money, because we are not a bank. In these short years, you have demonstrated to us that you are honest, and you are also competent, at what you do...... Your success is our success; we want you to grow. .... I know a friend at a bank, I will talk to him, to see you.” A few hours later, I left the country, as quietly as I had come. I called my Pastor, and shared the good news. Back in Lesotho, we blew away the competition: no contest. *********************** The author of this article Strive Masiyiwa from Zimbabwe is the founder and chairman of global telecommunications group, Econet Wireless. S A country, we have turned from following God; there is wide spread failure to obey His commandments or live by biblical principles. Is it just coincidence that our morality suffers? Or that economically, we face one of the most difficult times since the 70s when things were slightly better. Regardless of what caused our national condition, Christian citizens should care enough about Zambia to cry out to God on its behalf. Two things ought to motivate Christians to pray for the country.1) The condition of our nation is evidence that we need to pray for Gods divine intervention. Economic struggles, natural disasters, violence in politics, poverty, unemployment and the breakdown of families are just a few problems our country faces right now. 2) Biblical warnings should also motivate us to pray. God sometimes sends adversity to get the attention of His people (2 Chron. 7:22; Deut. 8:19; 2 Chron. 7:19-20). Zambia has enjoyed spiritual and material abundance as a result of Gods favor upon us. But there can be little doubt that, as a whole, our nation has rebelled against the Lord and refuses to live by His standards. Are there any principles or examples in God’s Word that could inform us on how best to pray for our country? God answers prayers for a nation when He sees that the people care enough to pray for it.God spared Israel from His wrath because Moses “stood in the gap.”(Psa 106:23 NIV) So he said he

would destroy them-- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the beach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. God promised that Israel would become a wasteland because no one cared. (Jer 12:11 NIV) It will be made a wasteland, parched and desolate before me; the whole land will be laid waste because there is no one who cares. God looks for people who would act on behalf of the land to intercede and rebuild on behalf of the land.(Ezek 22:30-31 NIV) “I looked for a man among them who would build up the walland stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. {31} So I will pour out my wrath on the mand consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.” The failure of God’s people to pray on behalf of their nation is a sin with dire consequences for the nation. (1 Sam 12:2325 NIV)—“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.” {24} But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he

all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. {5} For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. The church needs to be able to focus upon preaching the gospel rather than trying to survive the threats of a government which has become the enemy of Christ and His church. Daniel speaks of the future fate of the final antiChristian ruler of this world and the destiny of the saints. (Dan 7:25-27 NIV)---“He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. {26} “But the court will sit, and his power will betaken away and completely destroyed forever. {27} Then the sovereignty, powerand greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to thesaints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him. (B) That God would prosper the country for the sake of

has done for you. {25} Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away.” God’s people are the conscience of their nation. God’s people are to live lives of whole- hearted reverence and faithful service to God out thankfulness for He had done for them.3. God will bring judgment upon the whole nation, both those who rule and the people, if they persist in sin. 13 The Content of Prayer for the Nation (a) That God would give us leaders who would allow Christians to live and minister without opposition from rulers and those in authority. (1 Tim 2:1-5 NIV) I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanks giving be made for everyone-- {2}for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. {3} This is good, and pleases God our Savior, {4} who wants

the Christians who live there. (Jer 29:7 NIV)---Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (C) That our leaders would understand that they rule only by God’s permission.(Dan 2:21 NIV)-He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. (D) That our rulers would govern in righteousness and the fear of God (2 Sam 23:34 NIV)---The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me:When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, {4} he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth. (E) That our rulers will not resist the Lord’s hand in directing them toward righteousness lest He must direct them to their fall. (Prov 21:1 NIV)----The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. 21 (F). That our rulers will rely on God more than upon their own strength and power. (1)Relying on alliances is unreliable for your allies must protect their

Understanding the wonders of godliness

PASTOR Ogbonyomi Adeleye of Winner’s Chapel Lusaka main branch says In life there are things we understand by finding out what they are and what they are not. According the clergyman, one of these things is godliness. He added that it is lack of the understanding of what godliness is and what is not that makes many think it is impossible to live a godly life. Pastor Adeleye said this last Sunday November 2, 2014 in a message titled “Understanding The Wonders Of Godliness.” Below are some of the main points picked from his message: What godliness is and what it is not Godliness is not a state of sinlessness but a demonstration of your despiration to please God as a lifestyle. (See 1 Tim 4:7, Acts 24:16, Phil 1:2,1 Heb 11:24-25) Godliness is not a state of perfection, but a tireless press towards perfection.

(See Phil 3:10-14, 1 Pet 1:16, Matt 5:48)

Godliness is a conscious acknowledgement of one’s sins and shortcoming. (See Pr 28:13, 1 Jn 1:9, Ps 51:1-4) This is why godliness is a life-long battle for every believer. (See Heb 12:1-4, Job 2:89, Matt 24:30] Friends, a quest for godliness is a spiritual warfare indeed. [See 1 Pet 5:8, Matt 26:41, Heb 3:13] Nature of Sin Sin is pleasurable but only for a moment. Heb 11:23-25, 1 Cor 6:911] Breaking the Trap of Sin. Watch and pray against falling into temptation. Temptation in itself is no sin,

interests first. (Psa 60:11-12 NIV) Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.{12} With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies. (2). Relying on God testifies to a nation’s trust and dependence upon God which He will certainly honor.(Psa 20:7 NIV)---Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the nameof the LORD our God. (3) Unless a nation relies on the watch and care of God they really have no protection against their enemies.(Psa 127:1 NIV) A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. (G) That our nation would not be ashamed to identify with the LORD for it is the only way to experience His blessing.(Psa 33:12 NIV)--- Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. Conclusion Let us pray to have leaders in our blessed land who would have the spiritual depth to pray a prayer like the following from an undated prayer journal belonging to George Washington: “O eternal and everlasting God, I presume to present myself this morning before thy Divine majesty, beseeching thee to accept of my humble and hearty thanks, that it hath pleased thy great goodness to keep and preserve me the night past from all the dangers poor mortals are subject to, and has given me sweet and pleasant sleep, whereby I find my body refreshed and comforted for performing the duties of this day, in which I beseech thee to defend me from all perils of body and soul.... Increase my faith in the sweet promises of the gospel; give me repentance from dead works; pardon my wanderings, and direct my thoughts unto thyself, the God of my salvation; teach me how to live in thy fear, labor in thy service, and ever to run in the ways of thy commandments; make me always watchful over my heart, that neither the terrors of conscience, the loathing of holy duties, the love of sin, nor an unwillingness to depart this life, May cast me into a spiritual slumber, but daily frame me more and more into the likeness of thy son Jesus Christ, that living in thy fear, and dying in thy favor, I may in thy appointed time attain the resurrection of the just unto eternal life bless my family, friends, and kindred.”

OD makes no mistakes, so if you’re a Zambian at this time in history, it’s by His design for a divine purpose. Yet, God allows us to choose how we want to live. Does God control our nation’s destiny? Oh yes. But He also expects us to do our part: As you might be aware, within the next 90 days, Zambia again goes to the polls to elect its next president following the death of President Sata last month. It is against this background that we are appealing to you to make arrangements to take part in the next by-elections by exercising your democratic right to vote. It’s critical that Zambians take the time to vote—to learn more about the issues they are voting on and encourage others to vote too. When voting, let’s vote wisely- making sure that only politicians who have the potential to allow the growth of Christianity take office. Its only your vote that will ensure that evil elements do not find themselves in State House. Other than voting, during this period, try as much possible to pray for this nation and its leaders. Vote,Pray & Serve need to pray for our leaders—regardless of whether they are in the ruling PF or the opposition MMD and UPND . “Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God,” that’s what 1 Timothy 2:2 says. Trust God to work in the hearts of those in charge. You may be aware of the fact that during

times like these, the security of the nation is normally at great risky. We have in our midst cadres who are willing to do anything no matter how evil just to make sure they install in power their preferred candidates. They are ready to maim. They are ready to kill. They are ready to destroy property. We really need to guard against these characters and its only prayer that can ensure that. Thirdly, you need to understand the fact that we can change our nation by the work of our hands and the encouragement from our hearts. Volunteer. Speak to people about the importance of having peaceful, free and fair elections. Help the needy. Not only giving money, but giving our time. “He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done.” Proverbs 19:17 “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.” Proverbs 27:1 But we can vote and pray for God’s sovereignty, protection, and provision. We can serve God in our families, neighborhoods, churches, schools, and communities. Zambians have been abundantly blessed and we should be a blessing to all those who need us. We are here by divine appointment—and remember to: Vote. Pray. Serve.

T Editor,

hrough you, I urge Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia member churches and generally Christians to join the rest of the country in mobilizing on-going prayers for our country following the passing of our President. We must act together to prevent calamity or any acts of evil from disturbing the peace of our great nation. Some of our people may be experiencing fear, anxiety and uncertainty about many things but we can provide hope to the country through our prayers because God is in control. I am sharing the list of prayers for the nation following the demise of our Republican President His Excellency Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata on 28th October 2014 in London, UK this past week. This has been followed by a period of national mourning leading to putting the remains of the President to rest, then the campaign period for the Presidential by-election within the 90 days as required by the constitution. There are a number of very critical issues that require the intervention of God in our country. It is for this reason that I share the need for intensive prayers for our country. God is the only answer to our greatest need at the moment in the life of our country. Let us pray for our country in the following areas: i. Pray for the Acting President – His Excellency Dr. Guy Scott as he leads the country during this transition leading to the presidential by-election. Pray also for the cabinet for God’s wisdom as they lead the country (2 Tim.2:1-4)

National prayer mobilization schedule – Zambia Mourns ii. Pray for the First lady and the entire first family for the Lord’s comfort, strength and encouragement during this difficult time which they are passing through. (Ps.23:4) iii. Pray for unity and peace to prevail during the mourning period to ensure that the burial program goes on well and not disrupted but that the atmosphere is conducive for providing a dignified and respectful send-off befitting the Head of State. Pray against tribalistic talk and tendencies or regionalism that may divide the nation. We must all promote “One Zambia and One Nation” thereby enjoying our co-existence. (Ps. 133:1-3) iv. Pray that we shall remain a God honouring nation and that in these difficult times, the nation will remain united and that those that may incline to causing chaos or violence will fail because “good will al-

ways conquer evil”. Let us always honour God in all that happens in our country. (Ps.33:12) v. Pray for peace and stability in the country as we head towards the by-election. In the past, cadres have carried mock coffins depicting their hatred of another person or party or they have brandished machetes to cause chaos. Pray that such backward campaigns will not be tolerated but that there will be civility and maturity in the campaigns to guarantee free, peaceful and

fair by-election. (1Timothy 2:1-3) vi. Pray that the political parties that will be participating in the presidential by-elections will guide their cadres to respect the laws of the land and adhere to the electoral code of conduct. Pray for peaceful election campaigns and that all the groups will respect other participants or contenders in the presidential race. Pray that the campaigns will not degenerate into personal attacks but rather that those contesting in the race will discuss their vision for this country and dwell on the critical issues affecting this country in both short term and long term and to leave the decision with the

Editor, I WRITE to comment on the issue of miracle money, a concept promoted by Prophet Urbert Angel and especially on his challenge that if someone cannot tell him where the fish got the coin that Peter took from its mouth after Jesus sent him, then he wouldn’t explain the source of miracle money.

When we look at Abraham and his son on mount Moriah, it would be unwise to think that God had created the ram in the thicket to be given as a sacrifice. God had spared that from a flock from somebody in the area who thought it was lost. God sustained the life of that ram until the day it was to be given as a sacrifice.

The coin issue is straight forward one person lost the coin in the water and never recovered it. It was also spared for that purpose miraculously. People lose their money and they never recover it. It is for a purpose. God knows the reasons why we may go through such times of losing thing we treasure most. God stopped creating things at the

electorate. vii. Pray against anarchy and lawlessness during the campaigns and that the Police and other law enforcement agents will help to effectively provide and maintain peace throughout the republic. Pray that leaders of political parties will guide their cadres and supporters to respect the laws of the land and restrain them

from violence whenever they appear to go astray. Politicians should show leadership in this process and come out in the open to condemn and stop violence when it occurs. viii. Pray that there will be law and order in the country and that there will be no disturbance of peace and tranquillity. (To be cont’d next week)

Stand in the gap for our Zambia’ Editor, THE only sure way to allow evil to prevail is for the righteous to do nothing! This is not a time to fold our arms and watch evil men out of greed and selfish ambitions drive this country to utter confusion and destruction, let’s not take for granted the

peace that our fore fathers so dearly fought for and shed their blood. The way of Lord is strength to the upright : but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. The righteous shall never be removed : but the wicked shall not inhabit Earth. Proverbs 10:29-30 says “The Hand of the Almighty is upon this Nation, I decree and declare that no evil agenda shall prevail in the name of Jesus, the Lord shall arise and have mercy upon us for the sake of the righteous.” I am calling upon every believer and all well meaning Zambians and friends of this great nation to join in prayers as we stand in the gap for the peace of this nation during this trying moment. OACH Honour Janza says the Chipolopolo need prayers as they travel to Mozambique for next Saturday’s decisive Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. “We are going through a difficult time as a nation and we need a lot of prayers. In times like this, we need God’s intervention so that we can get a good result to honour our President,” Janza is quoted as saying by the Zambia Daily Mail. He said that players need prayers to remain focused following President Sata’s death. Zambia will face Mozambique four days after burying Sata. Janza said the technical bench will ensure players

are psyched before facing Mozambique. He said Zambia will not underrate Mozambique despite history favouring the Chipolopolo. Meanwhile, soccer fans in Lusaka have called on the Chipolopolo to win the two remaining Africa Cup of Nations matches to give Sata a befitting send-off. “Qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup will be a great

honour to our late President. He loved football and sport in general. As soccer fans we are appealing to players and the technical bench to do everything possible to ensure the team qualifies,” said George Kafwimbi of Garden township. Zambia will wrap up the qualifying race against Cape Verde on November 19.

Bankrupt David James auctions off shirts

Dynamos plot Zanaco downfall STRIKER Jimmy Ndhlovu says Power Dynamos must beat Zanaco in their next FAZ Super League match to stay in contention to win the title. With two matches remaining before the season ends, Power are second on the table with 54 points, two behind leaders Zesco United, after 28 matches played. Power are scheduled to face Zanaco on 15th November in Lusaka before hosting Nakambala Leopards in their final league match on November 22. “We are taking that game seriously. You know the game against Zanaco is very important to us,” Ndhlovu said. “The only option we have is to win. It is good that we

are facing our fellow league contenders,” he said. The striker rates Power’s chances of winning the league title as high.

“We have a big chance to win the league for the first time since 2012. We have about 75% chances of winning the league espe-

cially that our last game is at home,” Ndhlovu said. Power have so far posted 14 wins, 12 draws and two defeats.

If I were Gerrard I might have retired after Chelsea slip - Suarez By LIAM TWOMEY LUIS SUAREZ claims he would have been tempted to retire if he had been in Steven Gerrard’s shoes after the Liverpool captain’s costly slip set Chelsea on the road to victory in last season’s crucial Premier League clash at Anfield. The Reds were on an 11-game winning streak and needed just seven points from their final three matches to secure a first league title since 1990 when the Blues arrived on Merseyside in April.

But Gerrard lost his footing on the stroke of half-time and Demba Ba raced away to give the depleted visitors a lead they never relinquished, with Manchester City going on to claim the trophy. And Suarez - the catalyst for Liverpool’s surprise title charge with 31 Premier League goals before making a €94 million summer move to Barcelona - admits he would have been tempted to hang up his boots in the same situation.“If I had been in Stevie’s shoes, I don’t know

if I would have been able to carry on playing,” the Uruguayan writes in his new autobiography serialised in the Guardian.“Emotionally, it must have been very, very hard.“In the previous weeks, so much had been said about him, the expectation had built so much, the talk had been about him leading Liverpool, his club, to a first title in over 20 years, on the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, in which his cousin had died, and then that happens.“The captain, the

former youth-teamer, the oneclub man, a Scouser born and bred, and he was the unlucky one to make a crucial mistake. “He still hadn’t won the league title. Stevie had started to believe, we all had. And now it had been virtually taken away from him and like that, with him slipping against Chelsea. “I’m convinced that if Chelsea had not scored like that, they would not have scored at all. And once you are a goal down against them, it’s virtually impossible.” [Goal.com]

ITH two rounds of matches to go in the MTN/FAZ Super League, there’s a lot at stake at both ends of the table. At the foot end, Red Arrows is in the relegation zone though they are level on goal difference with Green Buffaloes while at the summit, it is Zesco United’s title to lose. It is not only the clubs jostling for honours but also the players as the race for top scorer is very much on. Below, we analyze the top 6 players 6 on the top scorers chat. .Moses Phiri – 10 goals (Zanaco) This young man has almost everything. He has the pacy, skill and technique and can play out wide, as a second or lone striker. At Sunset Stadium, he is one of the most experienced players despite being only 20. One of the highlight of the season so far has been seeing him alongside teenage strikers Dave Daka and twotimes capped international Charles Zulu. The ‘three wise boys’ from the east are all diminutive but they have skinned opposition defenders especially in the half of the season when they had Isaac Chansa behind them. All his goals have come from open play. Trivia: In 2012, Moses Phiri attended trials in Israel and the boy impressed at all three top clubs in that club. This year he tried his luck in South Africa but things didn’t work. .Alex Ng’onga – 10 goals (Power Dynamos) Power Dynamos are spoiled for choice upfront with

www.churchzambia.org the likes of Lottie Phiri, Felix Nyainde, Jimmy Ndhlovu and Ignitius Lwipa but the powerful striker is coach Tenant Chilumba’s first choice- Alex Ng’ona. He has banged in the goals from all angles and he is also deadly from set pieces. He has the height and enjoys a physical battle and has matured after returning from Nchanga Rangers on loan. Despite Honour Janza working with the then raw teenage in 2009 at under-20 level, one wonders why the Dynamo no.10 player has been snubbed by the Chipolopolo coach. Nine of his goals have come from open play while the one came from the spot. Trivia: There are rumours that he is Jacob Mulenga’s cousin and during his under-20 Sate Sate Kampamba days he did wore jersey no.2, the same number Jacob used to wear in the past. .Richard Kasonde -10 goals (Power

Dynamos) They call him ‘Djemba’ [James Chamanga is also called by that name]. Don’t mistake him for Francis ‘Mr Reliable’ Kasonde though both players have a lot in common. They both can play across the back four and in midfield. These are what we call common sense footballers and any team needs them. But ‘Djemba’ has surprised many with his goal scoring prowess. Many would have expected the likes of Kennedy Mudenda, Julius Situmbeko and Martin Tembo with that return but it is the former Kabwe Warriors hard man. Janza also knows the player to well having worked with him at Under-20. National team call up? Every team needs such kind of workaholics even off the bench to close the game. Right now, Zambia has only Donashamo Malama and young Spencer Sautu. Trivia: He has attended trials in Cyprus before .Ronald Kampamba -12 goals (Nkana) Still only, ‘Sate Sate’ was born to score goals. In the last 3-4 seasons, the Wusakile born and bred star has hit over 13 goals each--which makes the most lethal striker in the country. In the last 18 months or so, there has been talk that he can’t cut it at national team level but it looks like Janza is ready to through him in the thick of things. He is yet to make his debut in the AFCON qualifiers but he has featured for Zambia in friendly matches as well as CECAFA tournament. Trivia: In 2012, he attended trials at Young Boys in Switzerland as well as Macabbi Tel Aviv. His move for trials at FC Porto was blocked a few years ago.He has also attended trials at Supersport United in South Africa. . Jimmy Ndhlovu – 14 goals (Power Dynamos) The burly diminutive hitman has finally settled at Arthur Davies Stadium. He has been a journeyman from Red Arrows to Zesco United and then Nkana.Ndhlovu has the technique and its good seeing the back of net. When Power Dynamos demolished one side 7-1, he called 4 goals in that game. Trivia: He had a 4 months stint at Israel (Cont’d on pg 11)
