T h e r e w i l l be d e m o n s t r a t i o n s o f b o a t s h o p s k i l l s , i n c l u d i n g k n o t t y i n g , s t e a m - b e n d i n g , o a r m a k i n g and c a r v i n g . P o s s i b l y t h e most e n t e r t a i n i n g s p e c t a t o r event is a b o a t b u i l d i n g c o n t e s t in which s i x t e a m s o f c o n t e s t a n t s w i l l b u i l d b o a t s o f t h e i r own d e s i g n and r a c e them. The w i n n i n g t e a m r e c e i v e s t h e L a k e U n i o n C h a l l e n g e Cup. J u d g i n g i s based o n speed o f b u i l d i n g and r a c i n g , p l u s f a c t o r s o f c o s t , o r i g i n a l i t y , a e s t h e t i c s , showmanship and w e i g h t of tools. A t o y b o a t b u i l d i n g workshop f o r k i d s o f a l l ages awards prizes daily. T h e r e ' s a n a u c t i o n o f m a r i n e g e a r and o t h e r g o o d i e s . Music w i l l provide entertainment. F i l m s and t a l k s w i l l add m a r i time-heritage information. T h e r e w i l l be a d r a w i n g f o r a c l a s s i c wooden b o a t . B o a t s o n d i s p l a y w i l l i n c l u d e r e s t o r a t i o n s and r e p l i c a s o f t r a d i t i o n a l d e s i g n s , a s w e l l a s some n e w - d i m e n s i o n c r e a t i o n s . M o s t b o a t s o f f e r o n - b o a r d i n s p e c t i o n s a n d some o f f e r f r e e r i d e s . V i s i t o r s w i l l be a b l e t o w a t c h a n d o f t e n p a r t i c i p a t e i n boatskill activities.
