T h e sparkling r e p a r t e e e n d e d t h e r e , a v o t e w a s t a k e n a n d t h e use p e r m i t s f o r o u r Waterway 4 development were approved. A few m o r e shuffles of d o c u m e n t s f r o m here to there a n d b a c k a n d w e h a v e a site t o w o r k o n a n d a d i r e c t o r w i t h a c o u p l e o f g r a d u a t e degrees f r o m Paper U. T h e r e a l t h r i l l o f t h i s m o m e n t i s t h a t w e know t h e d o o r will s o o n b e o p e n at a bonified C W B site. T h a t is a m a j o r w a t e r m a r k for us. But we d i d s o m e t h i n g else that is a p r e c e d e n t f o r all t h e W a t e r w a y 4's in this nation: We have s h o w n the way a non-profit organization can take an unused and abused piece of public w a t e r f r o n t a n d create a park and m a r i t i m e h i s t o r y c e n t e r . O u r s l o w s t e p s (34 m o n t h s ) t h r o u g h t h e halls of b u r e a u c r a c y b r o k e a trail.
