INDUSTRY PARTNER UPDATES

Travel Friction and Travel Risk Management are quite rightly high on the agenda of Travel Managers and Travel Buyers We are working with associations to reduce these. We talked about Travel Friction last month but what is Travel Risk Management? We work with the British Standards Institution (you’ve all seen the famous British Kite mark) to create a new standard in Travel Risk Management with the intention of it being aligned to ISO31030.

Travel Service Providers have a duty of care towards their travellers. This standard will set the benchmark and certification for all organisations that work within the travel industry. It concerns the safety and security of all travellers whilst in the care of travel service providers. Putting travellers’ safety and care first is the right thing to do. The new standard will cover risk reduction, client and traveller wellbeing and safety. It will include organisations from those who book travel, to those who provide travel, to accommodation providers and even venues. People deserve reassurance of this standard being met. Something we can all agree on. To find out more you can speak to Paul Upton from our Sales Team.

The Lufthansa Group is making effective climate protection a major goal with a clearly defined path toward carbon-neutrality: compared to 2019, the Lufthansa Group plans to half its net-carbon emissions by 2030, and by 2050, the Lufthansa Group plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. This will be done by accelerating fleet modernization, continually optimizing flight operations, using Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), and providing innovative procedures that make passenger flights more carbon neutral. A big contribution will come from fleet modernization: the Lufthansa Group will put at least 190 brand new, more sustainable aircraft into service by 2030. These reduce fuel consumption and thus CO₂ emissions by up to 30 percent compared to their predecessors. A true alternative to fossil fuel and key on the path to CO₂-neutral aviation is the use SAF, which are fuels produced without the use of fossil energy sources. The Lufthansa Group is investing millions of euros into SAF and already today, they enable their customers to offset their CO₂ emissions immediately through SAF or via long-term climate protection projects – certified according to the highest standards, thanks to the Compensaid platform. Passengers of the Lufthansa Group airlines can find the Compensaid tool directly in the airlines' booking portal; Miles & More members can compensate their flights in the Miles & More App by activating the ‘mindfulflyer” function; corporate customers can use the Compensaid Corporate Program to offset the CO₂ emissions for their employees’ business trips. The pandemic has impacted the way we work and collaborate forever. Corporations have widely adopted virtual meetings, and these have demonstrated both their advantages and limitations. Employee wellbeing, engagement and carbon footprint reduction are at the top of companies' agendas. So now that person to person interactions have become possible again, choosing the right way to meet has become more strategic than ever. Newly published research from Clara's white paper, “How We Meet Matters” – sponsored by Cytric by Amadeus, CWT and Delta Airlines – shows that 42% of leaders say they prefer the freedom to work from anywhere, while 58% prefer to work near an office or travel to meet with colleagues as and when needed. With companies pivoting to flexible working models, this opens the door to new travel opportunities for employees. Deciding how to meet is now a strategic issue. This must-read report features relevant insights, preferences, and priorities from business leaders to aid in decision-making about meetings and travel.
