AFrom The General Manager
DANIEL A. MORENO GENERAL MANAGER/COO
daniel.moreno@thebriarclub.com
club that stops investing in it’s assets gradually fades into irrelevance. Fortunately, we’ve been lucky to have Board Members and leaders who understand this. Through the guidance of the Strategic Planning Committee and the professional resources at our disposal, we’re actively shaping the future of The Briar Club. Exciting developments are on the horizon, and The Club is in a strong position to focus on what’s next. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
Be sure to join us on Fridays throughout April and May for Live on the Lawn! Come out and enjoy live music, delicious food, and fun activities for the kids. Live on the Lawn is a new offering, and we are excited to begin! Our food and beverage team continues to deliver exceptional experiences. I would also like to highlight our Tuesday nights Mexican Buffet and Thursday nights Fried Chicken Buffet in The Grill. Chef Michael and Skyler Gentry are always finding new ways to elevate your dining experience and bring fresh, creative ideas to the table. We can’t wait to see you there!
It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into pool season—it feels like we just closed it for the Winter! A quick reminder to always keep a watchful eye on your kids when around The Family Resort Pool. We’ve already had a situation this Spring where a lifeguard had to perform a rescue for a child who couldn’t swim. Our lifeguards undergo ongoing training and are regularly tested to ensure they’re ready for anything, including live audits from an outside company to ensure they’re always on their game. Jon Diller does a fantastic job leading the staff and managing pool operations, but we kindly ask that parents remain vigilant and keep an eye on their kids while they swim. Your cooperation helps ensure everyone’s safety!
Please join me on May 22nd, for our popular Breakfast with the GM event! This event will be limited to the first 18 attendees. I always look forward to these gatherings as they provide a great opportunity to connect with members, share Club plans, and receive valuable feedback from all of you. Don’t miss out on this chance to chat and enjoy a delicious breakfast together! Be on the lookout for an RSVP email coming soon!
Thank you all for your continued support, this is a great time to be a part of the BC family. There are so many exciting things coming your way very soon!
Best,
Daniel Moreno

AFrom The
President
MARIAN HILPERT , 2025 PRESIDENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
s we welcome the vibrant energy of Spring, I’m pleased to share updates on the significant progress we’ve made toward shaping the future of our Club campus. The board is steadily advancing plans for several exciting potential projects following a year of thoughtful collaboration with C2 Limited Design Associates, our Strategic Planning Committee, department heads, and member input via surveys and focus groups. These include Clubhouse maintenance and refreshing, new shade structures for The Family Resort Pool, updates to the Barracuda Café, a refreshed and expanded Wellness Building (including Breezes), upgrades to the poolside locker rooms, and a new multi-level sports court facility with covered pickleball and tennis courts. As a reminder, any project requiring a member assessment will only move forward with membership approval. Renderings and conceptual plans will be shared with the entire membership in late Spring, and we look forward to engaging with you in this exciting next phase.
As we prepare for our busiest season of the year, we ask parents to keep a close eye on their children while at The Club. It’s important that our younger members respect The Club’s property and other members. This includes refraining from playing on tennis courts unless they are in a lesson or actively playing tennis and staying off the catwalk over court 4. With more families enjoying The Club this time of year, these small actions make a big difference in preserving safety and enjoyment for everyone.
The board encourages all members to stay involved in our community by reviewing membership applicants. These names are posted 10 days before each board meeting on the website and in the locker rooms. Beginning this season, we will also be emailing this information to members. Your feedback—positive or otherwise—is incredibly valuable to this process and helps maintain the strong community that defines our Club.
I am proud to highlight the outstanding work of our department leaders so far in 2025. Jon Diller is preparing our Barracuda swim team for what we hope will be another undefeated season. Alberto Jimenez continues to elevate the tennis program with an incredible sense of camaraderie among our members. Only four months into her role as Director of Fitness, Cathy Starker is already surpassing expectations, bringing noticeable improvements to the Fitness Center and revitalizing our group exercise offerings. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our entire staff—over 200 employees strong during the Spring and Summer—for their dedication, professionalism, and care. They are the heart of this Club and the reason so many of us feel at home here.
Enjoy the beautiful Spring weather and your time at The Club—I look forward to seeing you around campus!
Sincerely,,
Marian Hilpert

CAMP RULES!

Y outh
KID’S CLUB - HIDEOUT - NURSERY
Makayla Florus, DIRECTOR mflorus@thebriarclub.com

Gear up for camp! Below are important guidelines to ensure everyone has a great experience:
Camp Week Duration
All camp weeks run for the full duration of the scheduled week. Unfortunately, we are unable to prorate for any days missed or not attended.
Swimming Requirement
All children must be able to swim. If a child cannot swim, they will be assigned to the shallow end with a counselor for safety. We conduct a swim test each week before any child enters the water to keep all our kids safe!
Please note: No floaties or inflatable devices are allowed during swim time.
Non-Member Participation
At this time, we are only accepting members for camp. Non-members are welcome to register one week prior to the camp start date.
Important: Non-members are not allowed to join Swim Camp. Non-members must always be accompanied by a member.
We look forward to lots of fun!

FROM THE CFO ~ RENOVATIONS, GROWTH, AND FUNDING

As we approach the decision-making process for the next phase of campus improvements, it is important to understand the “when, where, why, and how” of the projects and the funding of the projects.
The “When” will most likely be in phases over the course of a few years with the date start after the membership has had the opportunity to review and weigh in at the town hall meeting in November 2025.
The “Where” will affect many areas members mentioned in the recent detailed survey information. The aim is to meet the needs of the entire membership. More information on specific areas will be shared by the Board and the General Manager/COO.
The “Why” is to increase our offerings, create more appealing facilities, reduce compaction in the heavily used areas, increase usage of facilities during inclement weather by adding more coverings and shade structures, and refresh of the overall look and feel of the campus. The “Why” is to keep The Briar Club at the “top of mind” for all the needs and wants of our members.
The “How” is how do we pay for all these changes? So, we offer an analogy of the upkeep of a primary residence. All who own a home know that to keep the outside looking good and the inside (HVAC, kitchen equipment, plumbing) running optimally, there must be funds saved, collected, and set aside for repairs, replacements, and upgrades. This strategy is the same in a much larger private country club facility. The difference is that members share ownership of the cost due to the member-owned form of ownership.
So, as we move into determining the financial obligations that renovation requires, we will be considerate of the timing and the financial ask. We will consider various sources to fund the future needs and growth of The Club. Exciting changes are to come, which will be great for The Club. Our aim is to provide an environment where our members continue to have wonderful experiences and create beautiful memories.
Additionally, as we “spring” into the latter half of our fiscal year, we continue to review our current vendor relationships and negotiation of future contracts. We are seeking ways to offset increased prices in the market via the use of participating in vendor buying groups. Moving to paperless statements six months ago helped us to move toward sustainability goals for The Club. We will continue to seek ways to be more efficient and innovative in our approach.
Best,
Kari M. Foster CCM
