Welcome to the digital version of The Bikers Trading Post The Bikers Trading Post is now being published monthly as a digital magazine. We have been making some big changes. Now, instead of being a one man show, we're teaming up with others to make us more of a community magazine. This will let us cover more and publish a lot more of all the events that you are going to. We are a local publication and dealing with local happenings. Yes, we will cover a few of the bigger shows that a lot of you follow but we understand you have no interest in a poker run in Kentucky. We will not be limited to the per page cost like in the normal printed publications. You can download the whole magazine and save it and you may take it to a printer and print part of it or all of it. This month we are putting in two calendars, one vertical and one horizontal. Most of the articles will have links and they are in red and labeled. If you click on that link it will take you to the albums of photos or a video slideshow from the event and you are welcome to right click in them to download and use for any non-commercial use. Please give us credit if you put them on your pages. You can take them and get prints of you and your friends if they were at one of the events that we covered. We have a facebook page that if you click on it will take you to a current list of the events that are happening in our area. At this time we have listed over 415 events past and present for 2015 in Western Pa. https://www.facebook.com/thebikerstradingpost Please check it out and friend us, and please feel free to share anything on that page you want to. Now with that all being said this is a biker magazine. We are covering the bike life, style and events. We work hard to try and keep things clean but if something is happening in the background and we miss it, OH WELL. If you are offended by off color jokes and photos of people getting crazy and photos of girls on bikes you are at the wrong place.

Rambling Thoughts Rambling Thoughts What a month this has been. First there were more local events than you could ever dream of. I have been on the run all month and now that damn day job is catching up. Can you even think that they even want we to actually work sometimes. You know, if I wanted to work for a living I would get a real %$#@(*& job. With that being said, if I come to your event and cover it and you tell me that you will get me the information on the event, please do. This is something that will also help to promote your event next year. This month we covered so many events. Many were even in the rain. There was the Cafe Racer show in Sewickley, and also the Brews, Bands and Bikes in Mercer. These shows will continue to grow in the future and I am sure they will be getting a lot of attention in the motorcycle world. I am working on finding people to cover other events and slowly getting there. I want to thank Jennifer B Gilligan-Myers for helping out with the Lawrence County A.B.A.T.E. events and Kenny Sturm with www.ErieBikerPhotos.com in Erie. I am looking for people from other areas, too.

The big thing this month was the posting of the Beaver County A.B.A.T.E. event flyer on my personal Facebook page. Someone reported it as nudity. Come on. It was a flyer for a bike run. All this does is prevent us from promoting the events that are happening in this area. I feel it was from one of our competition trying to hinder our efforts. OR it was a Beaver event and someone does not like Beaver. I have been in Beaver many times, and it is a Anyone that is going to an event and wants to share it with us great location. Who would not like it? There is a way to please e-mail us at thebikerstradingpost@gmail.com. If you track it and I will do it from now on. Facebook is all automated and leans towards its paying publications. If would like to join us in sales, covering events and getting published please let us know. you get reported, you can do nothing about it, and you are banned from Facebook for a time. I got 30 days. We all are using social media to promote now, and that hurts. I could Here are the photos that got us banned from do a revenge report but I am a man not a pussy. On the Facebook for 30 days. other side so many of my friends posted about it, and I increased my subscriptions by about 20%, so who won in the long run? Maybe I should say thank you. Here is a page a friend of mine posted on the Facebook rules. Please know before you click on this there is nudity on it. https://blacklabelmag.com/exposing-facebooks-doublestandard-nsfw/ To carry on, we are running out of good weather. The 2017 Harley-Davidson models are creating an interest and people will soon be moving to indoor events. Please send me your events to thebikerstradingpost@gmail.com. Happy riding and keep the wheels on the ground.

Bike Night at the Tilted Kilt I managed to make it to the Tilted Kilt for a bike night. I hit rain in Koppel on the way down and almost turned around. I kept on trucking and got there to a small crowd. I was ready to leave but thought I would check things out. There were a few really great bikes so I got the camera and figured that I drove there, so I should get something. The people were great. I talked to the guys from West Hills Honda, and Mike from Cafe Racers Magazine was there. I did have a problem hurting my neck. Damn, those girls working there were beautiful. The bikes were different from most bike nights. I think you need to check it out at some time. I look forward to going back on a night with better weather.

August 6th brought us the second annual Brews, Bands and Bikes event that is held on the Historic Mercer County Courthouse Square. It had the best selection of antique, vintage and custom motorcycles that I have ever seen in one show. It has doubled in size from year one and I foresee it to keep on growing. It was a great familyfriendly event with live music by Norman Nardini, Memphis Cradle and TC Davis Band and a Craft Beer Tent. The official count for 2016 is 81 bikes registered in the Antique & Classic class and 18 bikes registered in the Modern & Custom class. Not to mention the other 100 or so bikes parked around town that day! Next year's show is planned for August 5th, 2017 so mark your calendars now. My pick for the best of show would have been Craig Bunker s 1934 Harley VL with a sidecar. He knows it has been parked in the family barn from at least 1951 with the plates reading 1945. It was hand painted and looks like at one time it was a police motorcycle because it has the holes for the lights and siren. On a side note his uncle was a Toledo policeman and was killed in a motorcycle accident.

The winners were: VINTAGE BIKES: Best of Show: Pre-1980: Todd Mickinak's 1928 Harley JD American 1900 - 1948 Class: Craig Bunker's 1934 Harley VL with Sidecar and Dan Saeler's 1944 Harley UL Flathead American 1949 - 1979 Class: Ron Germadik's 1950 Harley Panhead with Sidecar and Bill Colosimo's 1958 Harley Panhead European Class: Steve Cypher's 1954 BMW Japanese Class: Dawn Mariagher's Honda CL 350 Specialty Class: David Ley's WW2 German Military Zundap with Sidecar MODERN & CUSTOM BIKES: Best of Show - 1980 & Up: John Solakakis Custom Class: John Solakakis Radical Class: Robert Kyzner Jr Sportster Class: Bill Cantollna Custom Bagger Class: Tyler Morrow Stock Class: Craig Dowds See more of the photos HERE and down load for free.

It was a great pleasure to be at the Run For McGuire, A Special Ride for Special People . The event was held on Sunday, August 7. 175 bikers and passengers rode the sixty mile trek to be a part of Beaver County Radio s biggest annual charity fundraising effort. Early estimates have the net fund raising total at around $4,200.That s more than double the amount generated from the best previous ride. After the ride, everyone was treated to a picnic at Brady s Run Park featuring food from Texas Road House in Monaca. In addition to great fellowship and food there was also a silent auction featuring great items from local businesses. This year s Run For McGuire was sponsored by: Beaver County Radio WBVP and WMBA, ProAction Suspension, Auto Body Works, American Legion Post 474, A.V.V.A. Chapter 862, Beaver Falls Police Association, Burg Bar and Grill, Cycle Motion, Darlington Cycle, Double J Saloon, Fischer s New Brighton Foodland, Hyatt-Fennell, LLC, Marbull s Restaurant and Tavern, Mazzant Painting, McMahon s Cycle Sales, R.A.K. Enterprises, Rebecca Miller Farmers Insurance. Richner s Auto Coach, Rochester Paving, Rochester Turners, Rochester-Beaver Lions Club, The Sabatini Family, Sam Spanos of Raymond James Financial, Six Packs Bar and Grill, Skerlec Contracting, State Representative Jim Marshall, and Texas Roadhouse See all the photos HERE

Beaver County A.B.A.T.E. Waking up to rain on August 13th I was questioning what to do. There was a lot happening that day but I hate to drive hours if the events are to be canceled due to weather. I told several of the A.B.A.T.E. members that I would be down so I decided that it was a something I had to do. I got down there a little early to find one bike at the Little Traverse Inn down on Rt. 30 in Clinton, Pa. The bikes slowly started pulling in and made for a good group of old friends on a rainy morning. As you can see from the group shot here it did manage to be a decent turn out that was fun for all. The made stops at the Bullpen, The Mouse Trap and finished at the Little Traverse in for dinner and entertainment by the ever so famous biker D.J. DiRtBaGs. On a side note I posted the copy of the flyer for this on my personal Facebook page and it got reported as having nudity. There was not even a person in the photo. Over the rants from other people I came to the conclusion that it is someone involved with one of the other publications reporting me, and that I must be doing something right. See page 3 for the whole story. And a big sorry for the Beaver County A.B.A.T.E., Being that there was no nudity in the photo I think the person just does not like Beaver.

Getting to the wedding A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street. But, officer, the man began, I can explain Just be quiet, snapped the officer. I m going to let you cool your heels in jail until the chief gets back. But, officer, I just wanted to say And I said to keep quiet! You re going to jail! A few hours later the officer looked in on his prisoner and said, Lucky for you that the chiefs at his daughter s wedding. He ll be in a good mood when he gets back. Don t count on it, answered the fellow in the cell. I m the groom.

Bob s Hair Cut Bob stuck his head into a barbershop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around the shop full of customers and said, "About 2 hours." Bob left. A few days later, Bob stuck his head in the door and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around at the shop and said, "About 3 hours." Bob left. A week later, Bob again stuck his head in the shop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looked around the shop and said, "About an hour and a half." Bob left. The barber turned to his friend Mike and said, "Hey, do me a favor, follow him and see where he goes. He keeps asking how long he has to wait for a haircut, and we Both know Bob never gets his hair cut or his beard trimmed, so he never comes back." A little while later, Mike returned to the shop, laughing hysterically. The barber asked, "So, where does Bob go when he leaves?" Mike looked up, wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "Your house!"

Mia Carina Growing up I never really saw myself as the girl in the magazine, nor was I popular by any means. I was the girl sitting in the bleachers watching the cheerleaders at the football game. While all eyes were on them, the determination inside of me was growing. I graduated as an STNA during high school, then went to Akron University for Radiology. I am currently 22 years old and started modeling about 2 years ago. Modeling is a sense of relief, because I can be perfect with my imperfections. I realized the girl in the magazines are not perfect. It s the imperfections that makes us beautiful. I enjoy all types of tasteful modeling you can review and reach me at www.fb.com/veganmiacarina or on my Instagram @Italianvegan_marie Download the printable calendar HERE

Living on the Golf Course A little old lady was walking down the street dragging two large plastic garbage bags behind her. One of the bags was ripped and every once in a while a $20 fell out onto the sidewalk. Noticing this, a policeman stopped her, and said, Ma am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag. Oh, really? Darn it! said the little old lady. I d better go back and see if I can find them. Thanks for telling me officer. Well, now, not so fast, said the cop. Where did you get all that money? You didn t steal it, did you? Oh, no, no , said the old lady. You see, my back yard is right next to a Golf course. A lot of Golfers come and pee through a knot hole in my fence, right into my flower Garden. It used to really tick me off. Kills the flowers, you know. Then I thought, why not make the best of it? So, now, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my hedge clippers. Every time some guy sticks his thing through my fence, I surprise him, grab hold of it and say, O.K., buddy! Give me $20, or off it comes. Well, that seems only fair, said the cop, laughing. OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what s in the other bag? Not everybody pays.

A.B.A.T.E of Lawrence County 5th Annual Toy Run Two (and three) wheeled sleighs dashing through the countryside! Photos and story by Heat of the day did not deter Santa, Mrs. Claus and all their helpers! Jennifer B Gilligan-Myers The A.B.A.T.E of Lawrence County 5th annual Toy run on August 20th was a success! Over $6,000 in donations and a mound of toys went to Taylor Township V.F.W Christmas party for local children and the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County. The amazing 95 mile cruise that included over 100 bikes and 130 participants began at the Burg Bar and Grill was enjoyable and scenic, winding its way through Lawrence and Mercer Counties. Mr. and Mrs. Claus had wind in their hair. The run ended with Wild Bills BBQ Buffet cooking up some great food and Heidi and the Hellcats rocking it out. A big thank you to Big Bob Russell President of Lawrence County A.B.A.T.E, Kat the owner and proprietor of the Burg Bar and Grill and everyone that volunteered, donated and participated to make this a success. Next year s toy run will be held on August 19, 2017. Lawrence County A.B.A.T.E. has been involved across the county volunteering and raising money for great causes!.They were out supporting the Fallen Warrior run and raised money to help a local small business owner with medical expenses with Vinnie s run. Far from least is the ongoing effort to pass Bill 853 Daniel s Law . A.B.A.T.E of Lawrence County donated $1,000 to House Representative Jaret Gibbons for his campaign. Please contact your local Representatives and Senators with your thoughts and help to pass this important bill. All in all a successful and busy month for A.B.A.T.E of Lawrence County. Once again a huge thank you to people participating, volunteering, and donating!

Cafe Racer Reader s Ride-in Custom Bike Show On a rainy day the 13th of August, with clouds and thunder all day Cafe Racer Magazine held their 9th annual Cafe Racer Reader s Ride-in Custom Bike Show in Sewickley, Pennsylvania s War Memorial Park, with about 700 guests and 60 motorcycles. The threat of storms kept the numbers down but there were a lot of really great bikes that still made it. There everything from vintage British bikes to modern retro customs and even a BMW sidecar rig. The top winners were Peoples Choice and Best Japanese Cafe Andrew Frederick with his seafoam green 1973 CB 350 Honda. Best of Show went to Tyler Stepp for his all-white 1974 CB 360 Honda and Virginian Sean Skinner got Wildest Engineering for his Yamaha Virago 750 custom. This will be a show to watch as it will only continue to grow with the cafe racer and antique motorcycle market booming in this area.

Humor to relieve stress The farmer and the lady A farmer stopped by the local mechanic shop to have his truck fixed. The repair would take a while to complete, so the farmer headed home since he didn t live too far. On the way home, the farmer decided to run some errands. He stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. Then, he stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem how to carry his entire purchases home. While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, Can you tell me how to get to 1498 Mockingbird Lane? The farmer replied, Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house. I would walk you there, but I can t carry this lot. The old lady suggested, Why don t you put the can of paint in the bucket, carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand? That s a great idea! Why thank you very much, he said and proceeded to walk the old lady home. On the way he says Let s take my short cut and go down this alley. We ll be there in no time. The little old lady looked him over cautiously. Then she said, I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me? The farmer said, Holy smokes lady! I m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that? The old lady replied, Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I ll hold the chickens.

Humor to relieve relieve Humor to stress Dearest Son, I m writing this slow cause I know you can t read fast. We don t live where we did when you left. Your dad read in the paper that most accidents happen within twenty miles of home, so we moved. Won t be able to send you the address as the last Arkansas family that lived here took the numbers with them for their house, so they wouldn t have to change their address. This place has a washing machine. The first day I put four shirts in it, pulled the chain and haven t seen em since. It only rained twice this week, three days the first time and four days the second time. The coat you wanted me to send to you, Aunt Sue said it would be a little too heavy to send in the mail with them heavy buttons, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets. We got a bill from the funeral home, and it said if we didn t make the final payment on Grandma s funeral bill, up she comes. About your sister, she had a baby this morning. I haven t found out whether if it is a boy or a girl so don t know if you are an Aunt or Uncle. Your Uncle John fell in the whiskey vat. Some men tried to get him out, but he fought them off playfully, so he drowned. We cremated him and he burned for three days. Three of your friends went off the bridge in a pickup. One was driving and the other two were in the back. The driver got out. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. The other 2 drowned. They couldn t get the tail gate down. Not much more news this time. Nothing much happened. If you don t get this letter, please let me know and I will send another one.

Love, Ma

Vinnie s Run On August 14th a run was held to help Vinnie and his family with the ongoing medical expenses that occurred when Vinnie was injured by a deer that ran in front of him. Considering the weather, there was a decent turnout at registration with 49 people at the last time I checked, and a few more were in line. The run started at one of all bikers' favorite locations, the Burg Bar in West Pittsburg. It was a kickstands up at noon, rain or shine event and it was a drizzle when they took off and they ran into rain several times on the run. The run went to State Line Tavern, Enon Valley Inn and finished at Tony s Lounge for a cookout. This is another case of the motorcycle community doing good by helping out.

Saeler & Solkovy Annual Memorial Ride The Saeler & Solkovy Annual Memorial Ride is my highlight of all the rides in this area. It is by far the best fundraiser by the biker community in this area by keeping everything in this area. Every year they pick a different person/family that is in need and do the run for that cause. They start right after the run planning the next years run. I see them out and about all year at a ton of the western Pa. events promoting, selling raffles and just putting the word out there. This year's recipient is Jennifer Reyes, who has Arnold Chiari Malformation and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Two of her children also have the exact same illnesses. This has been passed down to her oldest daughter Sidney Lasichak who is 15 years old and a year and a half post-op to a defective brain surgery, and also to her daughter Joey Reyes who is 6 years old who is still pre-op as they are afraid to have her operated on at such a young age. Chiari Malformation is a deformation of the skull base that actually makes your brain too big for your head. This causes the brain to sag down through the opening of the skull and restrict spinal fluid from reaching the brain. This causes widespread body pain, including but not limited to joints and muscles. Severe headaches, weakness, vertigo and also brain fog. To see the whole story go HERE This year they had 471 people and 292 bikes and were able to raise a great amount to help the family. This is a great fundraiser. If you see them out and about, please help them.

Volant Fire Company 11th Annual Poker Run Volant Fire Company held their 11th annual poker run on Saturday, August 6th under perfect weather conditions. They had a great turn out even with this being a weekend with so many other motorcycle events happening. I did not receive any information from them but I would estimate about 85 motorcycles participated in the run. You can see more photos from the run HERE

Erie Bike Night at Buffalo Wild Wings Wednesday night is the time for the largest Bike Night that is held in Erie. It is sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Erie and held at Buffalo Wild Wings on Interchange Road. There were about 175 bikes when I got there and a continuous procession of bikes coming and going. By the time I was ready to hit my two hour ride home there were over 300 bikes there and I would guess the total in and out was at about 450 to 500. There was beer on ice and burgers on the grill served by the beautiful ladies of Buffalo Wild Wings and the Miller girls were playing games and giving out prizes. Rick McGee and the Roadhouse Rockers did a great job of entertaining with some good old fashion rock and roll. It was a very nice time meeting up with some great friends and getting some great entertainment.
