KEY CLUB

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR HEY BROOKLYN TECH KEY CLUB, HOW DO YOU FEEL? Happy holidays, everyone! Our Key Club kind of had a slow month as we’re making the transition from 2012 to 2013. That’s not to say that we haven’t been doing other things within the school though. We wrapped up our Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign by raising over $600 dollars and raising money for various causes through Mysterious Santa. Go Tech! The 2013-2014 Executive Board Application has been released! Have you thought about whether or not you are interested in running for a position in higher office? Review the application and maybe you’ll find that there’s something you’re good at and you want to be the one to lead the club. Maybe you’re not interested in being an executive for your home club. It’s still not too late to run for LTG or district office! Turn to pages 11 and 12 to find out more. Do you ever notice that some pages seem emptier than others? That’s a sign that I need more articles and pictures! I’m always looking forward to your contributions because the member is the most important part of Key Club. Share your experiences and thoughts about what you have been doing with Key Club. You can e-mail me at Sharon@thetechkey.com and send pictures to image@thetechkey.com. Thank you for reading! Yours in the spirit of service, Sharon Cai Bulletin Editor 2012-2013

GIFT WRAPPING EVENT DECEMBER 8-9, 15-16 2012

Dozens of Key Clubbers donated their time to help Relay for Life on two separate weekends by wrapping gifts at Kings Plaza. The objective was to get people to donate a dollar or two to the American Cancer Society in exchange for wrapping their Christmas gifts. Given that we raised so much money, it’s suffice to say that the event was a huge success!

PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FILMING DECEMBER 8, 2012

Visual media committee head Johnny with fellow committee leader Sundy directing the video.

PHOTO CREDIT: CARRIE ZHAO The filming had a pretty good turn out!

The promotional video filming was held at McKinley Park on 73rd St. I got to be the "leader" so I spoke a few lines for the video. I was so awkward though, but I don't really regret it because it was a great experience. People were split into two groups: one that ran and one that cheered them on. Kelly, Joycelyn, Jessica, Amanda, Kaiwui and I were the cheerleaders. The making of the video was fun, especially the part when Amanda and Kaiwui had to perform. We had to redo it so many times because we were laughing at things they said and did. We also had breaks, which some of us used to play tag. Even though the weather was dreary, everyone had a blast filming. We can't wait to see the final product! — Fanny Li

HOLIDAY PARTY

08 CARING—OUR WAY OF LIFE

Here’s a shout out to all the members who attended our annual holiday party: you guys are awesome! Some handful of members came up to sing some holiday songs and to just perform. President HC got many members to join him for a round of performing Gangnam Style and we ended the afternoon with nearly all the attendees dancing to Cha-Cha Slide. A big thanks goes out to our advisors Ms. Filippeli and Ms. Multari as well as our chaperones Ms. Ratz and Mr. Mayle!

HOLIDAY PARTY (CONTINUED) DECEMBER 14, 2012

I’m going to start off by saying that it was awesome! I ate a lot of chips (nomnomnom) and I especially loved the entertainment this year :D Maria Lee was back! She's an amazing person and singer, and I loved her performances. David Jin was hilarious as usual. I was really disappointed when HC preluded to the fact that a popular Korean song would be coming on by asking "What is it? Wedding Dress?" and it turned out to be Gangnam Style (I am a huge Big Bang fan). However, all the dancing made me laugh a lot. I kind of regret not getting up to dance :( It was really nice to finally take my mind off of all my schoolwork and relax rather than doing homework. Always looking forward to a better party each year! — Sandy Mui

I had so much fun at the holiday party! I loved the dancing and singing, especially HC's wicked Gangnam Style! He was so good, and I thought it was great that he got so many people to participate. My friend, Joycelyn, went up as well. She, too, was amazing, though she kept insisting that she was horrible. Tiffany, Doris, and Sundy sang a holiday medley, which I thought sounded lovely. The downsides to the party is that I wished it was longer and there were more dancing and food! I can't wait for next year's holiday party! — Fanny Li
