SOS continues support for Travelling Dog Man If you have lived in Bali for long enough you may have seen famous Ketut Lellut Cellut otherwise known as the travelling dog man, who drives around Bali with a big smile and a posse of dogs on his bike, and is also being supported by SOS. The Scholars of Sustenance is a non-profit organisation that collects surplus food and distributes it to communities in need. SOS’s main focus is rescuing food for human consumption, however if food is not good enough it is given to a low-income pig farmer, Mr Ketut Lellut Cellelut. Funnily enough, his motorbike with the buckets was outfitted to be able to collect food donations from SOS, the dogs were optional! Either way, it’s great to see this classic Bali character being supported and continuing to make people smile every day.

Hi Hannah, when did you become a Bali resident DJ? Since 2015 Tell us your background in music I learnt to DJ since 2012 at ProDJ school in Bali. Then I became resident at Boshe VVIP Club from 2015 until 2018. I also began playing big events like weddings, company/ media launches and in many cities across Indonesia and Singapore, too. This week I will do a mini tour in Nepal (Kathmandu & Pokhara). For now I’m a resident DJ at Finns Beach Club since 2017. Favourite styles to spin? Elbow
Giants of All Sizes Elbow albums can always be a bit hit and miss. With the notable exception of 2008’s Mercury nominated “The Seldom Seen Kid”, most longplayers from the Bury prog quintet feature a fair bit of filler amongst the killer tracks. Ordinarily that has proved to be just about enough to keep things on the right side of average, but here on their lacklustre eighth, there is a distinct lack of standout singles. Things do not begin well, with the awkward “Dexter & Sinister” – a track that stops and starts completely out of rhythm before finally settling down in its third act. “Empires” does little to pull things back, with its directionless dirge, while the already radio overplayed “White Noise White Heat” falls flat thanks to its boisterous drums and dis-jointed chorus.
There are lovelier moments elsewhere “My Trouble” breezes past like an autumnal daydream, but really it’s too little to leave an impression. What’s worse though, is the downbeat vibe running through it like a niggling doomsday prophecy. Lyricist and singer Guy Garvey has always had a way with a verse, telling heartwarming stories and vignettes about the people and places he encounters, but on “Giants of All Sizes” it all seems a lot more hopeless – as if he’s lost sight of the beauty of life. What a shame it all is from a band with such a wonderful track record. Let’s hope it’s only temporary. Dan Ashcroft

Villa Pangkung LOCATION Villa Pangkung is situated close to ‘Eats Street’ Oberoi and bars and clubs like La Favela, Los Gringos and Red Carpet. Ku De Ta, Potato Head and all the best from Seminyak and Petitenget areas are only minutes away. Ku De Ta beach is a leisurely eight minute walk thru back lanes. The house is perfectly situated to live the Seminyak lifestyle. ACCOMODATION The villa has two and a half bedrooms (the third bedroom has a single bed). There’s a plunge pool, outdoor/indoor living space, kitchen and two bathrooms. Villa Pangkung fits five people comfortably in three separate rooms. There are two sets of stairs, one going to the main double bedroom and the other to the two smaller single-bed bedrooms. Meanwhile, the amenities provided are Wifi access, air conditioning, towels, bed sheets, and fully operational kitchen.
