WELCOME/CROESO Theatr Brycheiniog and Wyeside Arts Centre have developed a partnership whereby the Brecon venue provides programming and marketing support for the Builth Wells arts centre’s live programme - hence the inclusion of both programmes in this joint brochure. A combined brochure represents a great opportunity to show off the cultural strengths of the region as well as offering audiences information about a wider range of activities. The partnership between Wyeside and Theatr Brycheiniog is supported by funding via Arts Council Wales and Powys County Council.

After one of the wettest summers on record, Theatr Brycheiniog has sought out the hottest of arts and entertainment to deliver a sizzling autumn selection for you. We continue to bring the most exciting and thought-provoking performances to Brecon and Builth for the benefit of our fans and audiences from across Wales and further afield. From the knockabout circus and comedy of Cwtch Cabaret in September to the festive treat of indoor ice-skating in December, there’s so much going on. We’re really looking forward to seeing you at Theatr Brycheiniog - and Wyeside of course very soon.

MAPPA MUNDI / TORCH THEATRE / THEATR MWLDAN

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM Peter Doran directs an outstanding cast of thirteen - young lovers, warring fairies and mischievous mechanicals – who meet in a moonlit forest in this magical adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic comedy.

An endlessly inventive production laced with wicked wit, genuine enchantment and a symbolic escape from reality. Un o’r hoff ddramâu Shakespearaidd gan gwmni gwych

Set on the Home Front during the Second World War, this new production tells of a very British way of life, of an old class structure weakened by the destructiveness of war. Yet despite the conflict, there is an underlying feeling of adventure romance is in the air and people live life for the moment, not knowing what tomorrow may hold. In these times, our dreams are more vivid, the desire to love and be loved greater, and the longing for a better world immense.

PROFESSOR ALICE ROBERTS SURVIVORS OF THE ICE AGE

Incredible Human Journey, Origins of Us and Ice Age over the course of her three BBC TV series, Professor Alice Roberts has investigated many aspects of human evolution. In her lecture at Theatr Brycheiniog, she draws together academic research and experience from her own travels to tell the story of the survivors of the Ice Age. What can science reveal about our own survival through the end of the Ice Age? Why did so many other species die out? And how much were humans to blame for their demise?
