We don’t limit how much assistance a patient can receive in a year. We carefully review and allocate our disease programs to ensure that patients keep coverage throughout the year and there is no cap on the amount of assistance an enrolled patient receives in a calendar year.
7
We offer comprehensive disease programs. Our disease programs include financial assistance for copays, health insurance premiums, and medical incidentals. We partner with national patient advocacy organizations and seek feedback from sites of care to better understand patients’ needs. And, we monitor industry trends in advancing treatments and gather knowledge to predict reimbursement challenges.
We invest in our team.
Every day, our dedicated team helps patients and their families overcome one of modern life’s greatest challenges: paying for the treatment they need. We believe in investing in our team to ensure they provide the best quality service. Our call center of dedicated Patient Advocates and our Information Technology Department work alongside each other within our organization with the singular focus of helping our patients.

We expanded our presence for our patients. We opened our doors in 2009 in Orlando, FL, with the mission of providing underinsured people living with lifethreatening, chronic, and rare diseases access to critical treatment through financial assistance, education, and advocacy. A decade later, the need for TAF is even greater, which is why we opened a Washington, DC, office to effectively advocate on behalf of our patients.
4 We are fighting to ensure our patients’ access to critical treatment. Our Advocacy Committee has one focus: to help us achieve our vision of seeing the day when no person goes without treatment because of an inability to pay. The seasoned healthcare advocacy and public policy professionals on the Committee work alongside our talented advocacy team to define our policy priorities and devise our advocacy strategy.

We are nationally recognized for the high-quality service we provide. We have top marks from charity-rating services, including GreatNonprofits, ImpactMatters, and GuideStar. In 2019, TAF was featured in The Nonprofit Times as one of the Top 100 nonprofits in the country. Ninety-three cents of every dollar we receive goes directly to our disease programs. In the words of one patient, “You allow us to again find security and joy.”
5
We pass the IRS Public Support Test Threshold. One-third of TAF’s donations come from donors who give less than 2% of our overall receipts. That important number, known as the Public Support Test Threshold, places TAF among America’s best-run charitable organizations. In 2018, thanks to the breadth of our donor base, and the hard work of our operations team, TAF accomplished this important milestone.
10
We meet patients and advocates where they are. We travel to dozens of patient-focused conferences throughout the year to meet patients, potential donors, and healthcare advocates and share the stories of the people we help each day. Our presence at conferences, webinars, and national meetings helps us both to understand our patients’ needs and increase our impact.
