Welcome to McDavid Studio. On behalf of the Performing Arts Fort Worth staff and Board of Directors, I thank you for joining us.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 15 years since Fort Worth first met Dixie Longate! This week, we welcome everyone’s favorite southern redhead back in the final season of her hysterical, fan-favorite show – Dixie’s Tupperware Party. With fast-talking tales, heartfelt accounts and homespun wisdom, Dixie has won the hearts of audiences again and again, and has become a staple in our lineup since her first shows in 2011. If you’ve never experienced a Dixie show before, I think you’ll find that while you come for a laugh, you’ll leave with some unbelievable stories and a fresh perspective. We are grateful to Dixie for having the idea to bring the traditional Tupperware party into the 21st century all those years ago, and wish her the very best in her next adventure.

Dixie’s Tupperware Party comes to McDavid Studio as part of the 2024-2025 Irwin Steel Popular Entertainment Series lineup. The series concludes with the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band Spring Showcase on May 2.

Next up, the 2024-2025 Broadway at the Bass Series presented by PNC Bank continues this spring with the new musical that offers a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit of Michael Jackson, MJ, in May, followed by Baz Luhrmann’s revolutionary musical mashup, remixed for the stage, Moulin Rouge! The Musical in June, and the highly anticipated revival of the innovative twist on the Wizard of Oz that took Broadway by storm, The Wiz, in July. Tickets to all three of these shows are on sale now.

With something for everyone, the 2025-2026 Broadway at the Bass Season presented by PNC Bank is a season that’s larger than life! New season tickets will go on sale the week of April 28. Interested in becoming a part of the Broadway at the Bass family? Visit www.basshall.com to learn more and discover all the sensational shows we have coming up.

As always, thank you to all of our sponsors and donors for their generous contributions and continued support. Now, for the last time, please join me in welcoming our friend, Dixie Longate, in Dixie’s Tupperware Party!

A little scribble from Dixie’s notepad

Someone once said that things often come much more into focus after that second shot of tequila. I can’t say that I disagree with that. And I reckon that many of you have had that experience. You know when you are talking to a friend as the bar bill climbs and you start to make sense out of things that were plaguing you just a few hours before.

I have to think that there was a round of empty glasses sitting on the counter when Brownie Wise thought to herself, “Hey, if I take these plastic bowls off of the store shelves and demonstrate how great they are to my friends in their own living rooms, I might be on to something.” Over 75 years have passed and boy was she on to something.

Who could have imagined that a single mother from the middle of the country could take a plastic bowl and make it an iconic piece of Americana. This is what inspires me about Brownie Wise. She wasn’t just creating a way to sell more plastic crap. She looked past the bowl , and found women that were lost, who needed help, who just didn’t quite fit in, and she gave them a network of friends and neighbors who would come together to share recipes and cocktails. They would talk about their families and their new Broyhill recliner. They would show off their ultra-modern wood paneling, and sometimes, their empty bed where their husband had slept before he went off to war. These parties not only provided creative food storage solutions, they also provided opportunities for women to step up and in a small way, take charge of their lives.

17 years ago, I took a few sets of bowls on the road with me and started sharing some laughs in theaters across the country. Since then I have been lucky enough to travel the world, perform in some of the most respected venues around and share stories and hugs with hundreds of thousand of people. And each day I got to smile bigger than the day before. I am truly honored that so many people have chosen to spend some time with me. It fills my heart more than you can ever know.

As I wind down this chapter of my life, I am excited to see where the next adventure will take me. Still a lot of my life ahead is unknown, but there is one thing I do know. I am so grateful that Brownie Wise decided to walk into her neighbor’s living room with that first set of bowls all those years ago. If she hadn’t, I am not quite sure where I would be right now.

Brownie ain’t that much different than me. And I ain’t that much different from you. My hope is to keep putting some goodness out into the world. Go out into the world and always remember to Bump A Duck.

Welcome to my Tupperware Party!

WHO’S WHO IN THE CAST

DIXIE LONGATE

Your Tupperware Lady

Hey hookers, I’m Dixie Longate, America’s Favorite Tupperware lady. I’m from Mobile, Alabama, born and raised. I started selling the fantastic plastic crap in 2001 on advice from my parole officer and within a year, I was one of the top sellers in the nation. Hot dog! My Tupperware party caught the eye of some New York theatre producers and in 2007, I had a big opening of my own show, “Dixie’s Tupperware Party” off-Broadway and even got a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance. I know, shut up, right! Laurence Fishburne beat me that year. Dang it. But what nice company to be in. I have now played in theaters far and wide across these fruited plains as well as a bunch of other countries. Some of those places I didn’t even realize had food. See what I have learned by traveling so much. I have also written a few other shows that I have performed in between and on top of the show you’re seeing tonight. It’s been one heck of an adventure in the past 22 years. I’m happy to be here partying it up with all y’all this evening. Now grab a Tupperware sippy cup and let’s have ourselves a party! For more info or to see pictures of me doing fun things, go find me on social media at Dixie Longate.

KRIS ANDERSSON (Actor/Playwright) debuted Dixie’s Tupperware Party at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival. Following that, the show moved Off-Broadway to the acclaimed theater, Ars Nova. The show has now become one of the longest-running Off-Broadway tours in American theater history. Dixie’s follow up show, Never Wear A Tube Top While Riding A Mechanical Bull and 16 Other Things I Learned While I Was Drinking Last Thursday has toured in tandem with Tupperware since 2014. Cherry Bombs and Bottle Rockets, his latest Dixie-inspired stand up and storytelling show, was penned during the pandemic.
