HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE
On registration day, we recommend using a desktop or laptop.
Using a desktop computer:
• Go to arbutusclub.com.
• Log in with your username and password.
• Hover over the ‘Recreation Services’ tab and click on ‘Program Registration’ and you will be taken to the Club’s registration system.
• To register for a class, click on ‘Classes & Events,’ and either type in the class # or title in the search bar, or search for an activity under the direct program category.
• To reserve a facility booking or a court, click on the specific facility (i.e., tennis, squash, rinks, pickleball, etc.), located on the green menu bar at the top of the screen.
• Please note that for facility bookings each member must log into arbutusclub.com individually to book an activity under their name. The corresponding booking rules will apply to the ‘owner’ of the reservation.
Using a smartphone, tablet, or the mobile Club app:
• Visiting arbutusclub.com will take you to a mobile friendly version of our registration site.
• For smart devices, or if you are using the Club App, click on ‘Member Area’ at the bottom of the screen and then on ‘Program Registration.’
• The mobile version of the program registration platform will appear. For full site features, including ability to search by program category or season, and to view or cancel classes you or your family is registered in, click on the ‘Desktop’ option at the bottom of the menu.
ACTIVATE A USER ACCOUNT
If you or a member of your family is not yet activated on the Club website, you will need to click the “Member Registration” link to register the account first.

As spaces become available, waitlisted participants will automatically be registered for the program or facility and be notified by email. Please ensure your email address is up to date and remove yourself from waitlists if no longer needed.
• Be sure to familiarize yourself with all cancellation policies listed on each page of this brochure and on the details for each class in the the program registration system. GENERAL INFO
WINTER SESSION DATES
Monday, January 05, 2026 – Sunday, March 15, 2026
STATUTORY HOLIDAYS
Group programs are not scheduled to take place on statutory holidays or weekends when a statutory holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, and program fees have been calculated accordingly. Exceptions include group fitness classes. Holiday weekend schedules and hours will be posted online at arbutusclub.com.
CLUB COACHING POLICY
To maintain the quality and integrity of instruction at The Arbutus Club, only Club-contracted instructors and coaches are authorized to provide coaching or instruction on Club premises. The use of outside coaches is not permitted.
To ensure fairness and consistency, the following steps will be taken if a member is found in violation of this policy:
First Infraction – Reminder & Clarification:
A member will receive a courtesy conversation with the Athletics Director and/or Recreation and Arts Director, either in person or by phone, to clarify the policy and address the issue. A follow-up email will be sent to confirm the details discussed.
Second Infraction - Formal Notice & Fine:
If a second violation occurs, a formal notice will be issued along with a $200 fine. This notice will outline the policy in detail and inform the members that further violations may result in a referral to the Executive Committee.
Third Infraction - Executive Committee Review:
If a third violation occurs, the matter will be referred to the Executive Committee, which may convene a Disciplinary Committee to determine appropriate next steps.
PROGRAM FEES
All program and related fees will be billed to your member account. Regular weekly programs will be billed monthly for the program’s duration. Workshops and short-term activities will be billed in the month they occur.
ACTIVITY & SPORT ASSOCIATION FEES
Some program areas are required to have members register with their provincial sport governing association for the purpose of insurance coverage to participate in tournaments and events. These fees may be billed seasonally or yearly and are listed on the program pages for which they apply. Some areas also have activity fees, billed seasonally or yearly, and are used to pay for special
equipment, gifts, awards, seasonal parties, events, and other program enhancements.
UNDERAGE REGISTRATION POLICY
Children underage for a specific program must receive approval from the Coordinator/Director of that program before registering. If permission is given, underage participants must register with the Registration Desk directly so that we may bypass the established age restriction. Please note that receiving advanced approval does not guarantee a spot in the program.
PROGRAM APPROVALS
Some programs require approval from the Coordinator/Director of the activity area, prior to registering, to ensure participants are at a required level for the class. If a member is incorrectly registered for a class, the Coordinator/Director reserves the right to remove them and recommend another class more suitable for their age or skill level. If an alternative class is not available, the member will be removed from the class.
REGISTRATION WAITLISTS
During the initial days of each registration period, it is recommended to make use of the wait list feature if you do not secure your preferred program dates and times. As space becomes available for the program, waitlisted participants will automatically be registered and notified by email. If you no longer want a spot in the class, please remove yourself or your child from the waitlist, or from the class upon receipt of the notification. You may also contact the Registration Desk at registration@arbutusclub.com to cancel any classes or waitlists.
MISSED/MAKE-UP CLASSES
If you miss a class for any reason, it is the decision of the Coordinator/Director of each activity area, as to whether they can accommodate a make-up lesson. Most activity areas do not offer this option as it is disruptive to participants registered and is challenging for staff to accommodate.
CHILDREN UNDER 8 YEARS
A parent/caregiver (16yrs+) must always accompany children under 8 years old while in the Club. You must drop off and pick up your child for all programs as children under 8 years of age will not be released from the program on their own.
ALLERGY AWARE
Recreation Services Staff are allergy aware and request that parents do not pack snacks for their children that contain common allergens, such as peanuts. If your child has an allergy that you would like us to be aware of, please contact the Registration Desk and we will notify the instructor.
GENERAL INFO
GUEST POLICY
Recreation programs and events are restricted to members only, unless otherwise noted. A limited number of guests may be permitted to attend 25 Year Club events, special youth events and various one-time workshops, if space permits before the event date.
PROGRAM FEEDBACK
We welcome your feedback about our programs, camps, services, and events at any time in person, by phone or by email. We also have an evaluation form available online at arbutusclub.com/services/recreation if you would like to complete it anonymously.
ACTIVITY COMMITTEES
The success of our activity areas is in large part due to the contributions made by volunteer Committee members. If you would like to participate in one of our Activity Committees, please fill out an application form available at Club Reception or email Tanya Foley at tfoley@arbutusclub.com for athletics committees or Megan Gallant at mgallant@arbutusclub.com for recreation committees.

GROUP LESSONS
For group lesson information, please contact the Registration Desk starting at 7:00am on registration day.
Having your child signed up for the correct level is important both for the safety of your child and the safety of other children in the program. If your child is registered for the incorrect level, and we do not have room to move them, you will risk forfeiting your space completely.
To ensure you are registering in the correct level, please check in with your instructor prior to registration or contact aquatics admin directly to check what level we have for your child on file.
Registration Tip: As all classes are split levels, registering for the correct level is easy! Register for the level they are currently in split with the level above! That way, whether or not they complete their current level, they will be in the right class for the upcoming session!
IMPORTANT NOTE: If your child was registered for a program in Fall 2025, and has not taken lessons elsewhere during the summer months, please register for the same level you registered in at that time, with the split level above. On the first day of lessons instructors will be doing assessments to ensure all participants are being evaluated at the correct level.
GROUP PROGRAM REGISTRATION POLICIES
Due to high demand, members are limited to 2 classes registration and 2 waitlisted classes for any Aquatics program with the same name. Contact Sydney Benmore, Aquatics Manager, if interested in participating in more than 2 classes per session.
PRIVATE LESSONS
WINTER PRIVATE REGISTRATION: To book private lessons for juniors and adults in Fall, email aquaticsprivatelessons@arbutusclub. com starting at 7:00am on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025.

Our Development Program nurtures foundational skills and confidence through four progressive levels—Little Rays, Eagle Rays, Sting Rays—each designed to support swimmers as they grow in technique, endurance, and love for the sport.
The Competitive Program—featuring Manta Rays, Electric Rays and Devil Rays—prepares athletes to represent the Arbutus Club at local, divisional, and provincial meets, and proudly compete on the national stage with Swim Canada. These swimmers embody the spirit of excellence, teamwork, and determination.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
Beginning in Fall 2025, for programs with multiple days, participants are expected to attend the specified days listed. As the swim club is now approaching peak numbers, we are not able to accommodate schedule changes in the same manner as previous. If you have questions, Eduardo Finkelstein at efinkelstein@ arbutusclub.com.

The Arbutus Club Academy of Dance cultivates dancers from their first step into a dance studio through their pre-professional training. Students discover their individual artistic voices in a creative environment with the guidance of an internationally recognized faculty. The personal attention encourages students to mature as dancers, grow as individuals and enrich their passion for the art form.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
Students enrolling in dance, except preschool classes, adult and combo classes, must make a full-year commitment as classes are progressive and depend on weekly development. Class placement is determined at the teacher’s discretion.
PROGRAM ATTENDANCE
While we want our students to have fun, dancing is a commitment. Students registered in dance are expected to remain in the program for the full term. Recital dances are a part of the program, and it is expected that all students will participate in the performance and consider it a team activity with commitment to the overall success of their group. Please give prior notice to your teacher by January 25th if for some reason you are unable to participate. We ask that parents ensure students arrive on time, attend every class, and inform us in advance by email at mhershfield@arbutusclub.com if they have to miss a class for medical, illness or other reasons.
SMALL CLASSES
All classes require at least four participants to run at the listed price. If a class has fewer students, the teacher may offer the class with an additional charge.
BALLET EXAMS
Exams motivate both serious and recreational dancers to develop discipline, confidence, and a sense of achievement. Students are examined by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, London, England, in either the Imperial Ballet or Cecchetti Canada. Usually held in June and administered by international examiners, exams involve additional expenses such as additional rehearsals, entry fees and special outfits. Instructors determine which dancers are ready to be examined. Examination candidates must register for at least two ballet classes per week from the grade one level, three to five days a week as levels progress. Students on pointe require a minimum of three ballet lessons per week.

Results are tallied with group winners graduating to the next level for the following cycle. A spares list is available to contact if you are unable to commit to play every week.
VANCOUVER SQUASH LEAGUE
This is a competitive league and players must be Squash BC members. Teams of five players are assembled to take on Clubs across greater Vancouver. Men play on Mondays, women on Tuesdays. Matches alternate home and away with home teams responsible for entertaining visitors with a light dinner and beverages. All levels of play are welcome to try out.
SQUASH
ARBUTUS SQUASH CHALLENGE PYRAMID
The pyramid is located on the wall at the north end of the squash lobby. The goal is to try and get your name as close to the top of the pyramid as possible. You move higher by challenging and beating anyone one spot to your left or one row above. If you win your best of 5 challenge match, you take the position of the losing player and move everyone down 1 position until your original spot is filled. There will be a Men’s and a Women’s pyramid and you can join the one you feel comfortable with. Contact Dave Glass at dglass@arbutusclub.com to have a tag made with your name and phone number to be added to the pyramid.

TENNIS
SINGLES LADDER
A fun, social and competitive tennis ladder. Open to a level of 2.5 player or higher. There is no algorithm with this traditional style ladder, players move straight up or down when a win/loss is recorded.
Example: If a player ranked 15th beats a player ranked 10th, the 15th ranked player becomes 10th, and the 10th ranked player becomes 11th.
Players arrange their own matches by contacting other players via email. Players will record their own scores after each match. This ladder is for players who want to play more singles against a variety of players. It is expected that if you join the ladder you want to play. This is the second year for us to try this format, and we want it to be fun and challenging for everyone.
For more information, please contact: tcrowther@arbutusclub.com.
