Digital innovation in Shakespeare The Royal Shakespeare Company and Samsung are delighted to announce RE: Shakespeare, a groundbreaking free app.

2 : PRACTICE

In this section students get to grips with the ‘what, why and how’ of Shakespeare’s language. First, they experience a ground-breaking 360 degree performance of two sections of Much Ado About Nothing. Then, with tips from actor Tamsin Greig, voice coach Nia Lynn and RSC director Iqbal Khan, students experience coaching sessions which introduce them to acting techniques to help them deliver lines with feeling and meaning.

Ideal for any young people studying Shakespeare, the app helps them to experience Shakespeare like never before. Focusing specifically on Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing, RE: Shakespeare has three interactive sections – Play, Practice and Perform – each reflecting a different stage of learning.

3 : PERFORM

This section gives students the chance to get on the RSC’s stage and try out their new found skills acting alongside RSC actors in Much Ado About Nothing.

Students can perform opposite Edward Bennett and Michelle Terry in the iconic roles of Benedick and Beatrice.

Introduced by David Tennant, this app is a phenomenal new way to bring Shakespeare to life through technology and it is completely free to download.

1 : PLAY

Tackling Shakespeare head on, music and rhythm take centre stage through three immersive games. This section invites students to lip sync favourite lines; mix beatbox rhythms with Shakespeare’s text; and identify Shakespeare’s lines from hip-hop lyrics.

INTERACTIVE LEARNING RESOURCES Last year RSC Education launched the first in a series of exclusive RSC Interactive Learning Resources to support the Shakespeare plays performed on our stages and those profiled in our Schools' Broadcast series.

These online resources have been optimised for use on all interactive whiteboards and contain a fantastic range of RSC production images, RSC videos and practical activities that will provide you and your students with different ways to explore Shakespeare's texts.

Developed by RSC educationalists and freely available to all teachers in the UK, we will produce interactive learning resources for each of the First Folio plays over six years, beginning with Henry IV Parts I & II, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Aimed at Key Stages 3 and 4, and ideal for supporting the new Key Stage 3 curriculum, these unique classroom tools introduce texts through interactive pages, RSC performance footage and key scenes, all of which can be accessed from any computer via our resource bank or directly at interactive-learning.rsc.org.uk

WORKSHOPS & EVEN TS FOR STUDENTS Inspired by Matilda The Musical, this online resource gives schools insights into the process of staging this award-winning musical.

As well as teacher notes full of ideas for how to prepare your students for seeing the production, it also offers a programme of work which aims to give young people the inspiration, confidence and skills to develop their own writing.

This interactive site contains filmed interviews with the show’s creators, Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin, together with comprehensive teacher notes for use in the classroom.

New London date Get involved in the exhilarating adventure of Prince Hal as he swaps his rebellious life on the streets of London for the battlefields of France to become one of the most famous heroes in British history. The RSC opens its doors to Primary students to unlock the process of creating and staging Wendy & Peter Pan. School groups can take part in a range of activities and experiences throughout the morning including practical workshops, tours of the building, visits to Shakespeare's classroom, school trails, writing and adaptation workshops, design sessions and make up demonstrations.

WRITING AND ADAPTATION WORKSHOP: WENDY & PETER PAN

Specifically designed to complement AS and A Level study, this conference offers students the chance to undertake a practical and academic investigation of Henry V, exploring the language, structure and interpretive choices.

The day includes an on-stage session with Assistant Director Owen Horsley and a workshop on original performance conditions led by practitioners from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

Join the writer of Wendy and Peter Pan, Ella Hickson and unlock the secrets behind how writers adapt existing work for a new audience. This workshop will give students an insight into structuring basic stories for the stage and look at how we use a script to bring characters to life.

18-25 year olds can dive head first into Shakespeare this summer with our immersive Student Summer School.

Spending 5 days in Stratford-upon-Avon, and working on the texts of Othello and Volpone, you will explore the text from all angles with insights from actors, practitioners, academics and creative teams.

JOIN THE RSC DREAM TEAM 2016 Alongside our special UK-wide tour of A Midsummer Night’s Dream: A Play for the Nation, we are inviting every UK school to join the RSC Dream Team 2016 by working on A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
