This month we chat with… Darren Low, Manager at The Sportsman Pub, Soi 13 Pattaya Beach Road. Q Most stupid questions you’ve heard? A1 Customer: Do you sell sushi? Manager: No, we’re an English pub. A2 C ustomer: Two American teachers asked while laughing why don’t your staff speak Mandarin as we’re in Taiwan? Manager: This is Thailand. Duh. A3 C ustomer: American shouting at the price that a pizza and soft drink were 320 dollars! Manager: No, we’re in Thailand and it’s 320 Thai Baht! A4 Customer: Can I have scrambled eggs? Waitress: No have. Only omelette. Q Most difficult aspect of your job A Handling first time tourists to Pattaya, so many questions! Q What do you dread most coming through your door? A A large group of scruffy backpackers… say no more. Q Best aspect of your job? A Great social life and making friends in the industry. Q Biggest challenge for Pattaya in the next 12 months? A Pattaya has to adapt to TAT wishes, attracting more SEA tourists. But where’s the infrastructure to handle more tourists? Q Biggest bullshit story you’ve heard in the bar? A Guy walks into the bar.
