KIDS ART HOLIDAY PROGRAMME TIMETABLE – WINTER 2023

Weave it your way

Choose a theme or image for two works of art, maybe you love cats or even monsters? Mushrooms or exploding volcanoes? Or maybe you want to do a portrait of yourself or something/someone else? We will learn how to take our two paintings/ drawings and weave them together into one very cool artwork.

Rainbow wool bags

The sheep have been shorn and we have sacks of warm wool to play with! We also have a rainbow collection of yarn! Using a bouncy ball and warm soapy water, learn how to turn raw wool and yarn into a fun, cozy, felted bag. Great for keeping your creations safe or for an adventure to the library.

Light saber/wands

May the power be with you! Let’s get up to some magic mayhem! Using many wild and wonderful treasures, we will each conjure up a wand or light saber to light our way through the winter nights.

Friendly food

Are your bowls or egg holders so plain and quiet? Maybe they need some feet, or some legs or tentacles, ears, hands or giant noses? In this project we are going to make our own polymer clay to create a silly snack bowl or eggtastic holder!

Kaleidoscopes

When life gets a little grey, a kaleidoscope will always brighten up your day. In this project we will craft our own unique kaleidoscope, using recycled materials such as pvc pipes and old jewellery to create little worlds of dazzling dances of colour.

Paper play

Today we are switching on the paper pulper to whizz up our own handmade paper. While our paper dries, we will pluck all the wacky and wonderful words, wild and whimsical drawings out of our brains and put them onto paper, to create our very own story book with our handmade paper used to make book covers.

Make your own night light

Have you ever imagined a page out of your favourite story book coming to life? Or maybe your bed is a spaceship floating through our galaxy? Learn how to turn a cardboard box into a magic and fun night light dreamscape.

Glow in the dark day

If you like things that pop, fizz and smoosh then today is the day for you! We are going to turn one of the workrooms into a Glow Lab where we will be playing with all things ultraviolet and that glow in the dark. There will be paints, slime and lots of excitement!

Manu Tukutuku

The winds have started to blow, which is just what we need to let our creativity fly! Today we will learn how to use harakeke, toitoi and other materials from our magic forest to create a manu tukutuku (kite) to celebrate the New Year, Matariki, here in Aotearoa.
