2024-2025 Yearbook

It is with deep gratitude and excitement that I share Teach For America Metro Atlanta’s 2024–2025 Yearbook—a celebration of the impact you have helped make possible. Much like a school yearbook, these pages capture the people, stories, and milestones that defined this year. As you read them, I hope you feel immense pride knowing that your generosity has been a driving force behind every success we’ve achieved.
Because of you, more than 220 corps members, 150 Ignite tutors, and 2,100 alumni are teaching, leading, and advocating for students across our community. Together, we are working toward our bold 2030 goal: to double the number of students in our impact districts who meet critical academic benchmarks in 3rd-grade reading and 8th-grade math.
As we step into Teach For America Metro Atlanta’s 25th year, I am humbled by the progress we have made together and energized by the work still ahead. Your partnership has shaped what’s possible for hundreds of thousands of students over the past two and a half decades, and it will continue to light the path forward for generations to come.
Thank you for believing in our work and in the limitless potential of every child. I am inspired by all that we have accomplished together and even more excited about the bold future we are building as we enter this milestone year.
Here’s to the teachers, leaders, families and partners that commit to ensuring an excellent education for every student, in every classroom, across Metro Atlanta

For Shantyria Greer, serving as a Teach For America corps member has been both a challenge and a calling. “My experience as a TFA corps member has been both challenging and rewarding. It has pushed me to grow as an educator, to see the potential in every student, and to lean into creativity and resilience,” she shares. Each day in the classroom strengthens her commitment to equity and reminds her of the purpose behind her work through the connections she’s built with her students.
Shantyria’s inspiration to teach traces back to seventh grade, when she was a student in Mr. Joseph Edelin’s class. “Mr. Edelin set the standard for what it means to show up fully for your students. He taught us to have pride in who we are,” she recalls. “His energy, patience, and belief in us created an environment where learning felt exciting and possible. As his student, I saw firsthand the difference one teacher could make, and it planted a seed in me to want to be that kind of teacher for someone else.”
Now, as she continues to grow in her practice, Shantyria focuses on helping her students see their own brilliance and potential. “I hope my students walk away knowing that they are seen, capable, and worthy of every opportunity,” she says. “If they remember my classroom as a place where they felt valued and inspired, then I’ll know I’ve done my part.”

As I reflect on the past year at Teach For America Metro Atlanta, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible community that surrounds this work. This year’s Yearbook is more than just a collection of stories and achievements—it is a celebration of the collective power we have to transform education and open doors for every student across our city.
