President’s Message

Greetings TTA, Let me begin by saying what an honor and privilege it is for me to serve as the President for 2022. TTA has such a long history in the industry, my hope is that I can serve the association well. I would like to thank the Past President, Raymond Miller for his service over the last year as well as all of the board members who volunteer to serve our association. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the Winter Conference this past year. My wife and I welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, into the world in late November. The twins were born early and we were still in the hospital while the conference was going on.

President Jaxon Bailey, CPTM Sports Field Solutions jbailey@sportsfieldsolutions.com

Although I was not able to be with you all at the conference, I heard that it was a great success. Thank you to everyone who attended the conference as well as the vendors for their support of the association. The board and I are excited for the upcoming year and we look forward to our Summer Conference at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Conroe. The mission of TTA is “to promote, support and inspire the turfgrass industry in the state of Texas through education, research and fellowship. With that said, the backbone and strength of our association is its members! TTA cannot continue to fulfill its mission without the support and involvement of our members. So I encourage all of you to take advantage of the opportunities TTA provides. Make the most of the networking, education and career development opportunities available at our conferences, short courses and through our (CPTM) Certified Professional Turf Manager program. So as we get ready for another growing season and all the goals that we have set to accomplish this year, I encourage you to use TTA, current sponsors, vendors and your peers as resources to help you accomplish those goals. The board and I are excited for the upcoming year and we look forward to our Summer Conference at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Conroe! Jaxon Bailey, CPTM

Executive Director Message

Howdy and Welcome to 2022! Thank you to everyone who made this past Winter Conference in San Antonio such a success! I received so much feedback from Vendors and Members that they enjoyed the show, education, corn hole tournament, and our Gun Raffle. This Gun Raffle was such a new experience for our Board of Directors and Association to try and it was met with such enthusiasm. We cannot thank everyone who participated or contributed in anyway to its success! This fund raiser was especially important as all proceeds from the Gun Raffle will go toward the future of Texas Turfgrass Association. We are striving to grow and keep our education and association a vital part of this industry, in lieu of challenges we have faced. Throughout the past couple of years, I am sure we all in the industry have felt the growing and financial strain within our personal lives or our career. TTA hopes to keep this Association growing and thriving for education in turf but also for networking for all industry professionals. This Gun Raffle was a small step to help reengage and connect our members! Thank you again! In addition to events like the Raffle, TTA will also host a special event like the Sporting Clay Shoot, and our Silent Auction each annual show. I personally want to make sure members understand how participation in these events much are appreciated and encouraged, as proceeds are vital to growing the association, our scholarship fund, as well as contributing to the TTREEE endowment at Texas A&M University. Thank you to everyone who helps to Sponsor, participate, and engage in 2021. For those of you who missed it, the Hyatt Hill Country Resort was new for TTA to try this past Winter and it exceeded our expectations with great service, food and was a nice change of pace for a venue. If you ever want to see TTA at another location or have a venue in mind, I invite you to call, email, or event text me anytime!

This Summer we will be at the Margaritaville resort in July and then at the Embassy Denton this coming Winter! Lastly, I encourage you all to consider our Awards program. If you have a field, park, commercial area, golf course, or any project that your company or crew deserves recognition, start planning NOW to submit for to our Awards Committee, as submissions are due by October 1, 2022. Thank you again for 2021 and I hope to see and meet so many more of you this year in 2022!

God Bless! Warmest Regards, Your Executive Director, Katie Flowers
