4th Quarter 2022
TEXAS TURFGRASS ASSOCIATION
President’s Message Dear TTA Members, It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the TTA President for the last year. I am writing this about a week before our conference in Denton kicks off and I am very excited to see all of you there. I am looking forward to being at the winter conference since I was unable to attend last year's winter meeting. 2022 has been a good year for TTA. The highlight of the year for me was the summer conference at Margaritaville in Conroe. It was a great family friendly meeting that was enjoyed by all who came. If you have never been to a summer conference I would encourage you to make the time to go, it is a good time. This year we have also added a handful of CPTM's to our program which is exciting to see. Our CPTM program is really making a lot of progress and the credit goes to our university advisors, Dr. Joey Young, Dr. Becky Bowling, Dr. Chrissie Segars and Dr. Chase Straw who put a lot of time and effort into making the education relevant and applicable to what we do in the field every day. I hope to see more and more people become CPTM's to help grow their careers.
Over the past year our organization has made progress in many different areas. Maybe not the amount of progress we hoped to make as a board, but we have made progress nonetheless. The circumstances of the past few years have been hard on TTA and we have faced some trying times. The progress we have made in 2022 is not by anything I have done but rather the time and effort of past presidents and board members have made to keep TTA in a position to be able to grow. The summer conference at Margaritaville was one of the most well attended summer conferences we have had in years. And as we stand today, the winter show in Denton is on track to be a very well attended conference as well. As the 2023 president, Houston Fullerton takes over, I will do everything I can to keep our positive momentum going. A huge shoutout goes to our Executive Director, Katie Flowers who does a wonderful job of keeping our association organized. Katie does so many things behind the scenes to make things run smoothly. Thank you Katie for all of your hard work! To all of the members and vendors, thank you for being a part of TTA. I encourage all of you to stay involved in TTA and continue to spread the word about TTA. There are so many different associations to be a part of today, but I thank you for your belief and support in TTA. I look forward to catching up with you at our show in Denton!
