LOOK Up to the twinkling Christmas tree… see His beautiful blessings that are hidden inside each shining light bulb, glistening tinsel, and bright star… Know that God will never leave us, nor ignore us… He Love us, unconditionally. He made us in His image and He loves us more than He loves all the creations in Heaven. We are His children and as we trust His loving faithful Son-Jesus the Christ we shall over come any problem or struggle that life tries to throw in our pathway. Star of the Month Samy Tanagho Courtesy of: Guarantee Real Estate Rose Lange, RE Agent, Reedley, CA

“Hometown Christian Magazine” Is happy to celebrate in EACH month’s Issue great stories! We have the honor to feature such amazing people that have such amazing stories to share! Please welcome our Star of the Month… Blessings!

Star of the Month By: Tarina Lovegrove, Writer

Welcome to Our STAR OF THE MONTH, and an Amazing Business gentleman …Mr. Samy Tanagho… Power Sundays are my favorite.

You

know the kind. You wake up Sunday morning, arrive at church early in hopes of serving in some capacity and then God blesses you tenfold. Well, that was my experience Sunday, October 21, 2018 when I had the distinct pleasure of meeting our church’s guest speaker, Mr. Samy Tanagho. One can say, “He had me at Hello”, because Samy’s infectious smile and love for the Lord simply exuberates from his very soul. I was blessed to be a greeter this fine Sunday morn and assisted Samy in distributing his materials for the day. Little did I know the friendship that would spark from this chance meeting. The service was excellent, to say the least and I was profoundly impressed by Samy’s story, along with his courage and conviction that

Samy practiced law as a defense lawyer in his father’s legal firm in Egypt. Most of his clients were drug dealers and criminals, all of them guilty. Samy used to lie in court to help the guilty get out of prison. That is, until God spoke to his heart through Hebrews 11, where Moses left Egypt by faith and preferred to suffer doing God’s will than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. Samy states, it was God who called him out of Egypt, as well.

Star of the Month As faith would have it, because his father and brother are prominent in Egypt’s legal system, they were able to help Samy get released before his move to the United States in 1980. Sadly, Samy’s parents are now deceased. He still has two sisters and two brothers. Imagine leaving your home, your family, your country and everything you know in honor of Jesus. This is a tough fight to fight. Bless him for his strength and fortitude. Of course, the old saying is true, “Behind every great man, is a great woman.” Samy realized he couldn’t do this ministry alone and in 1991, he met his wife, Hala. Personally, I have yet to meet Hala, but Samy talks very highly of her. She too was born in Egypt, born Muslim and escaped the bars of prison by the grace of God. Hala, who was born Muslim, became a child of God when she was training to become a Muslim teacher. She and three others underwent harsh circumstances when Muslim hierarchy was forcing their beliefs on her. Prayer brings miracles and thankfully, the U.S. Government pressed for her release.

Star of the Month Samy says Hala wants only to do what God wants her to do, even if it means her life. She even encouraged Samy to discontinue pursuing becoming a lawyer in order to focus on their ministry. Holding God at the helm of his life, Samy obviously agreed and is now author to two books ‘Glad News, God Loves You My Muslim Friend’ and ‘The True Love’, both of which he states, “present Jesus in the most understandable, attractive, convincing, acceptable way.” Samy states that Glad News continues to help so many Muslims become believers and followers of Christ and many Christians have been able to help nonbelievers know Jesus after reading his books. The continued “glad news” is that you can find more details about Samy and his works at www.Gladnewsministry.com. He is engaged in a Radio ministry, on 107.9 KWAVE and can be heard on the air every week. Don’t forget to look for the smile… it’s contagious!

Yummy… Potato Pancakes Cinnamon Rolls and Jelly filled Puffs So, good! God Bless you this wonderful Holiday season!

How to Celebrate: During the month of December, every night usually a child will light ONE candle on the Menorah and a song is sung right afterwards. A special Prayer will be recited and scriptures read from the Old Testament. The Menorah is put by a door or window in a safe place, since there is an open flame from the candles being burnt all night long. The Menorah is found not just in homes, but in government buildings, office, retail, and public parks, just to name a few. People love the Menorah and what it represents to all people everywhere. DREIDEL:

It is an important part of the

celebration for the children to play a game called “Dreidel”. It is a 4-sided spinning top that

“nun, gimmel, hei and shin,” which means, “a great miracle happened here.” The game is played with coins, nuts, and other items and is lost or won by the landing on the side of each word that is called out before the spin. https://www.chabad.org/holidays/chanukah/article_cdo/aid/102911/jewish/What-Is-Hanukkah.htm

What it should mean to Us: You don’t need to be a Jew to enjoy and believe in the true meaning of this Holiday. It has significant historical and bibical meaning. As we read about the days before Jesus’s time, we see that people from all nations of that period had a close walk with the Creator – Some people thought it was a piece of stone or carved replica of an animalhuman. Others believed that God (as He is known) is in our hearts and minds. That we don’t need a piece of rock to bow down to and make any kind of sacrifices. God loves us and has given us a lot of background information that allows His children to understand Him but most of all to understand ourselves and where WE originally came from… We need these outwardly God-given ‘symbols’ in order to remember, throughout the year, the importance of our relationship with God and with His Son, Jesus.

God bless us…

Old Fashion Christmas by: L.M. Wilson-Bryant, Writer

I was a very young child, I think around six years-old. We were living in an old farm house, during the early nineteen-thirties, it was the great Depression. Times were hard and so many people were poor with little to eat living through the harsh cold winters. The holidays, like Christmas, still came and everyone did their best to make or buy a small gift for the children. I remember that hardly anyone complained about our situations. Mama and Daddy always made sure that each person, young and old got a banana, an orange, some candy, a nice hanker-chief or for the girls a pretty hair ribbon. These things would be in our sox that we had hung from the fireplace mantel. Really, the kids didn’t ask for much! I had two sisters, one brother, age 10, and a small nephew, Billy age 2 still young enough to look for Santa. The other siblings were older and had long since given up on the idea! But they enjoyed the family celebration and traditions that we all had grown to love. After we eat supper, we sang songs as we gathered around the fireplace. Our tree was standing in the corner and was decorated with aluminum foil from what we had saved from gum wrappers, cigarettes packages and we made popcorn balls to hang on the branches. Everything was made them into an ornament and hung on the tree. We didn’t put lights or candles on it because, well we didn’t have any and Mama was concerned about fire from the candles. That night, Christmas Eve, we, kids, were so excited, it was so hard to settle down. Finally, my Daddy pretended to scold us into being quiet. I still remember the feeling of being so excited! 11/23/18

The boys and my sisters went upstairs and it was time for me to join them in their room. We all wore granny gowns, long shirt type, pull over, that was made of heavy cotton material. I got dressed and then reluctantly tried and go to sleep. My sister were still talking about Santa, it being Christmas Eve. They asked each other just how was Santa going to climb down our small chimney? He would get his red suit dirty, and his whiskers would get burnt. Now that worried me a lot! I finally got to sleep, but woke up later and realized it was still nighttime. So I got up went into my Mama and Daddy’s room. I crawled into her bed telling Mama I had a bad dream and the fire in the fireplace was going out. Daddy heard me and knowing how cold it was outside and how hard it was to heat this old house, he got up to add more logs to the fire. Now, it was a normal every night routine, but this night was different, this night Santa was going to arrive and fill our stockings with goodies. He would see that the tree was all decorated and he would leave us gifts of what we had asked him to bring us. I waited a long time for Daddy to come back to bed. He was in his long night shirt too and it was cold in the house. I didn’t know why he was taking so long… I got up and looked in the living room and there was MY Daddy placing boxes and toys under our tree!

There was a bright red wagon for Billy, a bike for my brother, Boone. And a real Shirley Temple doll for me! oh! I was so upset until Mama said, that Daddy had promised Santa he would meet him outside to bring all our gifts in, for that fire was just too hot this year. Then I understood that it was alright for my Daddy to help poor Santa with his load, for we are suppose to help others and specially at Christmas!

This was the best time of year, we were so blessed to be eating good food, unwrapping boxes, and packages, saving all the pretty ribbons, folding the tissue paper to reuse another time, laughing, singing songs, sharing with other, family prayer and especially remembering just why we were celebrating! It is our Lord and Savior Jesus ‘s Birthday! We must never forget, no matter how old we get or how many gifts we receive, let's not take the name of Christ out of Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday Jesus!

Coming the NEW YEAR By: Maggie B, Writer

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT… another YEAR has come and gone… Just like that it is 2019. I’m not sure I am finished with 2018. I, like many others, had so many hopes, dreams, and plans that didn’t get done. Also I, like many others, thought “We have time”… and we didn’t. There is a new year coming for this world. What will we do with THAT time? How will we spend our days? The same as we did in the past … or will we be more encouraging, productive, loving, kind-hearted, giving and prayerful? Nearly everyone sets better goals, resolutions, promises to themselves that they will improve their lives. By the time February comes into view, most of these promises are long forgotten. I’m certainly guilty of that one. However, I suggest that instead of setting goals and making silly resolutions, lets just be what God wants us to be. Let’s follow His rule book (the Bible) and enjoy the rewards that He will continue to give to us. In this new year, let us NEVER forget the ones that have lost loved ones, their homes, possessions, their stability and feeling of safety. I, too am a survivor, NOT a victim, of theft and betrayal this past year. I, too, have felt the sting of hurt, pain, loss, and indignation. Did I handle it with a loving heart… NO… I didn’t. I’m a human-being and I hurt just like the next person. BUT, I did learn a valuable lesson or two that has completely changed my life and outlook on how much time we all have left on this earth and how am I going to use it! It is really not a secret… First and foremost, you must trust yourself to trust the Lord. Know that He will NEVER forget you or leave you without a way out of any nasty situation. “TRUST… there is no other way.” Is it hard? Oh, Yes! It is hard… but, now that I know in my heart that I can survive these messes… I do truly trust myself to trust my Lord God. This is the best goal-resolution you can gift to yourself.

Blessings in the New Year. God love you so very much. 11/23/18

“Thank you for Christmas” By: Tarina Lovegrove, Poet

The glory of Christmas It’s not the Christmas lights on the house next door, Nor the tinsel falling from tree to floor.

is in honoring our Savior, The child that was given in sacrifice of our behavior. Jesus Christ - mighty God

It’s not the cookies or candies and all the yummy treats, Not even the carolers who adorn neighborhood streets. It’s not the brisk winter cold nor your warm, snuggly coat, Not even heartfelt words of a kind poem you wrote.

the Lord of all nations, Love to the poor and the wealthy no matter your station. He forgives our sins and cleanses our hearts, Brings complete joy to lives fallen apart.

It’s not the gathering of love ones with delicious food and drink, It’s not watching children grow up in a short little wink.

There is truly nothing

It’s not the snickering of little ones with bright eyes and glee, awaiting the delivery of gifts under the tree.

Thank you for the blessings

It’s not the mistletoe hanging above your head, It’s not tucking your kiddos tightly in bed.

we can do or say, Except praise you dear Father as we bow our heads to pray.

you provide our hearts each year, Thank you for our loves ones we treasure so dear. Thank you for Christmas and your love all year through, Thank you dear God, for all that you do.

It’s not the beauty of song nor the presents’ sheer delight,

Blessed is the child

It’s not even Santa

may all the Angels sing,

who sneaks in at midnight.

Heaven is upon the earth because of You, our mighty King.

Standing For God In The Last Days!

No matter what he does to hurt

and harm us, don’t we continue to pray for a miracle, praise our Lord and Savior and give thanks for all the blessings in our lives? Well, we should. I look at life now like I am a football player in the hometown game, except these games are a spiritual warfare. Sometimes, I’m a linebacker that puts on my helmet, crouches down on the scrimmage line waiting for the hike and the next tackle battle to begin. Sometimes, I win a few yards. Sometimes, I lose a few yards. Never the less, I am here to win this game and the loosing

occur, I would cheer my team on from the sidelines. Satan will not win these war games! So, dear friends, know that God has not left you. If anything, when you are crying out for his mercy, ironically you are closer to Him then ever. 11/23/18

Standing For God In The Last Days!

Give me an Amen!

I encourage you to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. There’s no need to be angry, upset or fearful, what we need to be is grateful beyond all comprehension, for the good and the bad, for the time of the Lord is near.

Imagine being a beaver in a raging river. Each time you put forth anger, frustration and a poor attitude, you block your blessings like adding another branch to the dam. If we want all our blessings to flow like a vibrant river, we need to stop making bad decisions that clog the dam. Give Him praise in all things! With this revelation, my prayer list has changed today. I’ve increased my

The irony in all this mayhem is that instilled deep within our soul is a crisis mechanism for when things go bad. Who do you cry out to when you catastrophe strikes? That’s right, the Lord God Almighty. So when you truly think about it, devastation is our friend. The bottom line folks, is that we are mere transients on Earth. The sooner we realize our true home is in Heaven and begin to honor it as such, the happier we will be. Bless your strife and sorrow, keep pursuing the next touchdown, help your neighbor and pray for healing for all mankind. Let’ stand for God in the last days and win these games together!

gratitude and praise knowing God is taking care of the rest. Wouldn’t you know after doing this and writing the first draft of this article, the issues I was fretting over miraculously got resolved!

One Purpose Journey ***

One Purpose Journey https://www.EmergencyPrayerTeam.com

By: Tarina Lovegrove, Feature Writer

Many of us are in search of our life’s purpose. Yet, did you know that all humans share a one-purpose journey? That is to experience life on earth, find Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, invite him into our hearts and share the gospel while awaiting his return. The event, often referred to as The Rapture, will be the miraculous time when trumpets will sound for Jesus’ tried and true believers and he will remove them from the earth to take them to Heaven. When this happens, can you imagine the evilness and chaos left behind? At the time of The Rapture, it is anticipated that the world will be in mass turmoil, airplanes will fall from the sky, cars will crash in the streets, Christians and children will be so-called “unexplainable gone”. The mayhem that follows is disastrous beyond human comprehension. Occurrences including a one-world currency, a confederation of 10 nations united to bring so-called “peace” under the helm of an AntiChrist (which is Satan’s puppet for his own personal demands) will all take place.

One Purpose Journey ~2 It is a fact that no one knows the date or time of Jesus’ return, yet it is near. The Bible speaks of many happenings that will take place in what is called the end times. These ends times include, but are not limited to, world violence and lawlessness, exponential increase in technology as well as false prophets and teachers. In these last days, churches and ministers will turn away from prophecy and align with a one world religious group, many illnesses, plagues and pestilence will manifest throughout the world and nonbelievers will scoff at the return of Christ. Be aware… these prophetic events have already begun! We are seeing the story unfold right before our very eyes! Please, do not make haste. Do not wait any longer to invite Jesus into your heart. As Jonathan Cahn so eloquently states, “You’re only one heartbeat away from eternity.” *** For more information please visit: www.texasstarchristianmagazine.com/ebooks www.emergencyprayerteam.com (chrome search engine)

One Purpose Journey ~3 The Emergency Prayer Team prays for all types of situations and our main focus is leading people to Christ. The Bible speaks of the end times and it is our belief that we are living in them NOW. In order for you and your family to go to Heaven, you must ask Jesus into your HEART and accept His Salvation for you soul through Forgiveness of sins. Then it is important to live a life according to His Word. If you do not or will not accept this forgiveness and Salvation, you are facing dreadful circumstances and will be LEFT BEHIND. Please accept Jesus today‌ Our prayers are with you! See you in Heaven!

Pathway *** “Seeing the Christ Child ”

Pathway

“Seeing the Christ Child By: Tarina Lovegrove, Writer

The Visit of the Shepherds Luke 2:15-20 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

The Visit of the Magi (Wise Men) Matthew 2:1-12 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written: 6/1/2018

Pathway

“Seeing the Christ Child” The Visit of the Magi (Wise Men) Matthew 2:1-12 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.” Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their countries by another route.

Life Point ***

** LIFE POINT ** Luke 1:26–27 …states, that Mary lived in Nazareth before the birth of Jesus, at the time of the Annunciation. The Gospel of Luke states that Mary gave birth to Jesus and placed him in a manger “because there was no place for them in the inn”…

Matthew 1:18-25 18 This is how the birth of Christ came about: His mother, Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/christmas-bible-verses/
