Giving to the Teton Pines Scholarship Fund is one of the many ways our members make a special difference in our community, while ensuring quality employees at the Club! All of our current, past and prospective scholarship recipients express their heartfelt appreciation for your ongoing and exceptional support. Please consider championing their futures by supporting this outstanding cause.
Dear Members,
John O’Dwyer | TPCC Club President
As we wrap up 2024 we are pleased that the major Clubhouse Upgrade and Expansion project is now underway. It is an exciting time for Teton Pines as we are laying the groundwork to upgrade the Club to meet our current and future needs. This project is one of our primary objectives as we move into 2025 and will be completed in three phases.
Phase I - Complete
Relocation of utilities. Telecom, county water, and sewer lines that were located directly beneath the Wellness Center.
Phase II – Underway – Estimated Completion January 2026
Construction of the 9,000 sq. ft. Wellness Center. This building will include a 2,200 sq. ft. state of the art fitness center, a 1,000 sq. ft. aerobics studio, a physical therapy room, an open-air pool bar, the club’s laundry services, and 1,300 sq. ft. of space for *locker rooms for the pool/fitness amenities.* to be finished after the Clubhouse renovation is complete. As we proceed into the construction of the Wellness Center, management is working with the contractor to allow the aquatic center to be available throughout next summer with minimal interruption.
Phase III – February/March 2026 through February/March 2028 Upgrade and expansion of the main clubhouse. This will be the largest of the undertakings considered within the overall Clubhouse Upgrade and Expansion project and will take approximately two years to complete. It will expand the clubhouse from 24,000 sq. to approximately 34,000 sq. ft. and will include:
• An expanded and Improved Pro Shop with two Full-Service Simulators,
• A reoriented main entrance, and lobby with the introduction of a Grand Fireplace leading into a central bar/lounge.
• Two newly created dining spaces serving casual and upscale dining or banquet services supported by an expanded kitchen with two kitchen lines.
• Expanded Alfresco Dining Options to accommodate bar, lounge, and casual dining
• Addition of an Open-Air Lounge with a Fireplace to service the upscale dining and banquet services.
• Addition of a Grand Staircase linking the Main Floor Lobby to the Golf Pro Shop Lobby
• An improved Conference Room with an Outdoor Breakout Deck for Pre or Post Gathering.
• A new Retail Wine Outlet, Multipurpose Game/Card Room, and a Children’s Corner.
Once the Wellness Center is complete and we commence the renovation and expansion of the main clubhouse, *we have designed a temporary dining on the ground floor of the Wellness building that we believe will be very appealing, the golf simulator will be relocated to the current gym location, and golf operations will be provided through temporary accommodations. It is our priority that members can continue enjoying the Club amenities throughout the renovation with minimal inconvenience. When complete, the newly remodeled Teton Pines will be well positioned with the necessary amenities to successfully serve our membership for many years to come.
The second primary focus is the preparation of the 2025 Business Plan with an eye toward retaining a high level of member engagement while the Club amenities are under construction. The annual member survey provides important feedback that is factored into our business planning so I would like to thank all the members who participated in the member survey this year. You can find an overview of the survey results in the GM message, within this issue, and we will be providing a more detailed analysis of the results in a dedicated communication in January.
Warmest Regards,
John O’Dwyer President
Todd Bretzlaff | TPCC General Manager
The Club enjoyed a vibrant summer. We saw golf play raise by 2.5%, and dining increase by 7%. We sincerely hope that members enjoyed the assortment of snacks offered in the newly added food kiosk and upgraded golf course bathrooms. As we continue to fine-tune the selection of snacks offered, we welcome your feedback on offerings within this amenity.
As you enjoy the festive season at the Club, we hope that you will have the chance to meet Steve David, our new Director of Golf; Clark Hayden, our new Director of Marketing & Communications; and Stacy Kovyazina, our new Director of Food & Beverage. Steve joins us from Denver where he has been cultivating an impressive career in golf operations, merchandising, and staff development. Clark, working the last three years in Jackson with an “out of the box” approach to marketing, is already bringing a magnitude of initiative and innovation to our communication strategies. Stacy, with her attention to hospitality and diner satisfaction, is reviewing feedback to design a menu that meets the expectations of the members.
Approaching the end of 2024, Club management is also finalizing our business planning and budget for the coming year. The department heads have completed their program schedules and strategic priorities establishing our goals and objectives for the coming year. Driving operational usage remains a major priority to maintain high levels of member engagement during the construction over the next three years.
I want to thank the 250 members who participated in our Annual Member Survey, as the information gathered from your input played a significant part in formulating the goals, objectives, and priorities for the coming year. I will share some of the survey results here, and we will also send out a dedicated analysis of the survey as we roll into the new year. Looking at the overall scores (based on a 5-point scale):
We will give a more in-depth analysis in January although in summary, our priorities are:
• Focusing on consistency and quality in dining,
• Improving engagement in our existing golf events and activities,
• Completing the Wellness Center,
• Improving pool processes and service,
• Greater attention to detail given to events and activities,
• Expanding communication of the clubhouse upgrade project.
We are in the initial stages of making significant improvements in the Club facilities and we sincerely appreciate your continued support as we transition into a truly “full-service” country club. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and comments. We are grateful for your continued support as we prepare Teton Pines for the future.
See you at the Club
Amy Bickley | Director of Membership & Assistant General Manager
M AKING M EMBERSHIP LEv EL
Changes to your membership activity level may be made any time with 30 days’ advance notice, provided there is room in the category requested. An upgrade request made within 12 months of a downgrade will require the payment of retroactive dues.
The late Autumn transition period is often a slower time of year at the Club as the golf season ends, the restaurant takes a short seasonal break, and many members leave their summer homes to return to warmer weather elsewhere in the country. The quieter time affords many of our team members that provide the daily services at the Club the opportunity to take a break after the busy summer to visit family outside the area and enjoy a few days of relaxation.
Our full-time, year-round team, (fun fact - there are 40 of us!) take this time to assess our operations and performance, review feedback from the annual member survey, and plan events and activities for the upcoming year. For 2025 we are planning to continue to focus on programming through a robust calendar of events. We want these events and activities to be an opportunity for you, your friends, and your families to engage with one another at the Club. After all, the Teton Pines’ active, friendly and welcoming membership community is what truly distinguishes us from others in the Valley.
On that note, thank you all for continuing to build our community by introducing your friends and family to the Club! Because of your referrals Teton Pines maintains a waitlist to join, and we are anticipating early summer membership availability for those applying currently. Of course, as more of your friends and family apply, the timeframe for membership will extend into the summer and fall so if you know of someone thinking about it…now is an ideal time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or let me know to get in touch.
Thank you for being a part of the Club and we all look forward to seeing you this holiday season!
As we shared in April, our membership dues cycle has been updated for greater ease and consistency. Beginning this year, all membership activity levels—golf, social, and racquet—will follow a unified calendar year schedule from January 1 to December 31. This alignment helps us budget and forecast more accurately, reduces the need for multiple dues updates, and follows a more familiar club experience. Social and racquet dues will continue to be set at 55% and 63% of full golf dues, respectively, ensuring consistency across membership levels. Golf dues for 2025 will be announced in early December, with updates taking effect on January 1, 2025. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
As we welcome winter’s blanket of snow, the golf course transforms into a serene Nordic paradise, offering our members a unique seasonal experience. The course will be beautifully groomed into a Nordic skiing wonderland, inviting you to explore the snowcovered fairways in a whole new way.
The Golf Shop will also embrace the season and becomes a fully stocked Nordic store, with everything you need to enjoy the trails. Outfitting you for all your winter adventures with everything fromhigh-quality skis and poles to warm winter apparel; hats, gloves, and more!
For those who prefer to keep their swing in shape, golf is still available year-round through our Golf Simulator, located in Arnie’s Den. Whether practicing on the virtual range, taking a lesson, or enjoying a fun round with family and friends, the simulator offers an engaging way to extend your golf experience througout the winter months.
As I begin my role as your new PGA Director of Golf, I look forward to getting acquainted with each of you and your families. I’m thrilled to be at Teton Pines and look forward to an incredible golf season ahead.
To Better Golf!
Thank you to our members for another incredible season of world-class golf in the Tetons!

Elevate Your Game with the Upgraded Golf Sim
Written by: Bobby Mercer | Manager of Golf Operations
Step into the future of golf simulation with the Foresight Falcon! This professional-grade system takes a giant leap forward in performance, boasting a compact, overhead design built on the photometric technology that defined its predecessor, the GCHawk. The Falcon brings an even more powerful setup that’s roughly half the size, bringing unparalleled realism and precision into a more user-friendly form factor.
When it comes to analyzing your swing, the Falcon is unmatched in accuracy. Delivering over a dozen points of ball and club performance data with each shot, it provides the richest data set of any overhead-mounted launch monitor on the market. With advanced insights into both ball and club metrics, it enables golfers to fine-tune every aspect of their game with confidence and ease.
Data Measured by the Falcon:
• Ball Data: Ball speed, vertical and horizontal launch angles, total spin and spin axis, and carry distance.
• Club Data: Clubhead speed, club path, angle of attack, lie and face angle at impact, smash factor, loft at impact, impact location on the clubface, and closure rate.
The Falcon is more than just a monitor— it’s an immersive golf experience. With three software platforms available, there’s something for every golfer, from casual players to pros:
• FSX Play: Experience hyper-realistic gameplay with Unity Graphics Engine technology, creating rich textures, 3D grass and foliage, enhanced lighting, and intuitive UI. With 25 courses (including Teton Pines!), FSX Play offers a beautifully immersive experience.
• FSX Pro: Ideal for serious golfers, coaches, and club fitters, FSX Pro delivers detailed performance insights with visual reports that make complex data accessible and actionable. Whether you’re fitting a club or testing gaps, FSX Pro is a game-changer in precision coaching and fitting.
• GSPRO: an industry leading community-driven golf simulation platform offering 4K Graphics, hyper-realistic ball physics, and with a massive online library of entertaining golf courses to play! As a community-driven platform, the list of user created golf courses is growing by the week. Enjoy the best courses in the world in an ultra-realistic environment with your friends and family! As a staff favorite, the golf course options are hard to believe!
To complement the Falcon, we’ve invested in a new custom-built computer system for Arnie’s Den. With an upgraded processor, operating system, memory card, and graphics card, this system delivers enhanced playability, greater simulation capability, and seamless user experience for members. The Falcon and its new tech enhancements have already delivered a noticeable improvement, making every session feel smooth and responsive.
The Foresight Falcon transforms every shot into an opportunity for precision, skill-building, and, of course, pure enjoyment. Whether you’re playing for fun, training, or testing out the latest clubs, this upgrade brings golf simulation to a whole new level of realism and interactivity.
Cultural Practice for a Quality Course
Written by: Mark Lyon | Golf Course Superintendant
There are many cultural practices that must be done to ensure the continued health and quality of the golf course surfaces; Many are minimally invasive, while others lead to significant impacts to playability. I would like to take this opportunity to explain a few of these processes, their drawbacks to golf and their benefits to the turfgrass.
This process involves very small tines punching holes just through the surface of the turf. This can help after tournaments or other times of very intense maintenance such as double cutting and rolling. Spiking can also help push top dressing sand further down into the thatch layer of a green. In general this process is minimally impactful to golf. After a few days the greens are back to normal playability.
To visualize this process, you have to imagine 108 small saw blades cutting just into the thatch layer of the turf. After Verti-Cutting, a green will appear to have thousands of parallel lines cut just into the surface. This removes a significant amount of thatch on the green, which is subsequently replaced by sand during the top dressing procedure. While the lines may continue to be visible for longer, the playability of the green usually returns to normal after about a week.
This machine puts vertical “slices” into the soil profile. These slices help to break up compacted soil and introduce air and water into the root zone. This process is also done at the same time as top dressing to help fill any surface disruption while incorporating the sand into the thatch layer.
Spring 2024 was the first time we have employed this cultural practice. This is a contracted out process that involves the company coming in with specialized equipment that injects sand into the root zone using pressurized water. While it doesn’t remove thatch from the surface, it does a great job diluting the thatch layer while producing channels for air and water to enter the root zone, benefiting the grass plant.
It is not as effective as hollow tine aeration, Dry-Ject allows for immediate play after the process with minimal disruption to the quality of the turf.
Core Aeration:
This is the process that has historically been loathed by golfers worldwide. It involves physically removing small diameter cores of soil and turf and replacing it with top dressing sand. It is one of the most effective tools we have as turf managers to remedy poorly performing turfgrass. It is also a key tool in maintaining the health of high performing greens. The downside to the practice is the severe disruption of putting quality while the aeration holes are healing. This healing can take anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months to heal depending on when the process is done.
Maintaining turfgrass in an area like Jackson Hole has many challenges, not the least of which is to provide great golfing conditions during a short growing season. As such, we take a variety of factors into consideration when deciding what cultural practice is suitable at any given time, including turf health, weather, golfer impact, and labor needs. Feel free to contact me anytime with questions or comments about the golf course and how we maintain it.

Julie Weinberger | Director of Racquet Sports
As we move into our winter season here at the Teton Pines Racquet Sports Center, we look forward to another fun filled season of drills, playdays, lessons and member play.
With tennis playdays on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and pickleball playdays on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, we have lots of organized play for our members of varying ability levels. We’re entering our third season of level-based tennis drills, and by popular demand, we have added another intermediate tennis drill on Thursday afternoons.
We have also added a new 1.5 hr long pickleball drill on Thursday afternoons - focused on skill building and strategy. This is ideal for advanced beginners, intermediates and advanced intermediates. If this isn’t what you are looking for, please reach out to me so we can assist in making other groups. To vary play even more, we have two pickleball mixers with Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis on November 16 and January 24. These are great opportunities for all, especially our more advanced players.
Back by popular demand, we have our sixth tennis camp in February. Be sure to save the dates for that one as it will fill up quickly! Weekday session: February 19-21 | Weekend session: February 22-23. Registration will open 60 days in advance.
Additionaly, I encourage members to reach out via phone or email to organize group or private lessons. Don’t have a group yet? I am happy to facilitate group formation for regular member play.
In our small space of the Racquet Sports Dome, please remember to be courteous to your fellow members and their guests. Wait for your reservation time to enter your court, clean up balls, put away pickleball nets and avoid crossing courts during a point. I look forward to another energetic, fun filled environment here at Teton Pines!
See you on the courts!
Why swimming is your yearround solution secret weapon for crostraining
Written by: Liza van Dissel | Director of Wellness
After enjoying my first triathlon this summer, I’ve been leaning into swimming as one of my preferred methods of cross training. Having already been on the receiving end of knee surgery, I often gravitate towards a low impact workout and fully agree with National Geographic’s recently published article about the fact swimming is arguably the best exercise.
As the temperatures have dropped, our lap pool has had significantly fewer swimmers! Here’s a reminder that our lap pool is heated, open year round and salt water! If that’s not enough to get you in the pool to do some cross training here’s a few pieces of research that may:
It’s good for the heart and lowers resting blood pressure. I don’t know about you, but if I pick up the speed while swimming by adding in a sprint set or swimming a few laps of butterfly, I’m forced to focus on my breath and effort to control it.
Swimming is a full body workout & increases mobility. This may be old news, but when you think about the alternatives to get a full body workout or increased mobility, swimming is awfully appealing (at least until our cross country course opens). Muscles engaged while swimming include core, neck, chest, back, glutes, leg, feet etc. The buoyancy of water can help relieve stiffness while water resistance can assist in improved flexibility.
Improved golf game.
Though not your first thought for cross training, it’s certainly worth considering. The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) recommends that it strengthens triceps, shoulders and rotator cuff muscles alongside mobilizing your thoracic spine and is one of the best aerobic exercises you can do.
On the courts.
Swimming has been linked to full body muscle development and injury prevention as well as conditioning your body to become more efficient with energy.
If you’d like any assistance in booking a lap lane reservation, want to be connected with a fellow swim enthusiast, or you are new to swimming and want to book a lesson, please send me an email!

Our recent member survey highlighted a desire for more family-friendly activities. In response, we’ve added new events like Bingo Night, Family Jeopardy, and Sledding, S’mores & Nordic Skiing. You’ll also see the return of popular favorites like the Vintage Sleigh Ride and Turkey Trot.
As more activities shift indoors, I look forward to seeing many of you at our daily complimentary fitness classes and in the members’ gym. I’m especially excited about the upcoming opening of our new Wellness Center, where we anticipate plenty of space for everyone to enjoy their workouts. In the meantime, remember, reservations are required for the member’s gym. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to connect with you at the club, via email or by phone.
With ski season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to prep for the slopes. Kick up your cardio with our RetroStep class, or unwind with one of our many yoga sessions. And if you’re traveling, we’d love for you to join us via Zoom.
We thank each and every one of our members for making this such a memorable year at Teton Pines. Here’s to 2024 and the memories that lie ahead!
