It’s Christmas Time ( video “So This Is Christmas”) Student 1: Christmas is a magical holiday of birth. The birth of any person is a miracle and the birth of Christ is a great holy day in all times. Although it was 2013 years ago, every year all world looks forward to Christmas miracle remembering the place where Christ was born. Student 2: And every year candles are lit, special dishes are cooked, with love prepared presents attract mysteriously. Child 1: What do you like best about Christmas? Child 2: Presents – lots and lots of new toys! Child 3: Food – turkey and stuffing and lots of fruit! Child 4: I like sitting on Santa’s knee at the mall. Child 5: I like riding around looking at Christmas lights. Child 6: Christmas is definitely the best time of the year! Christmas is my favourite time of the year. Santa brings us presents with his sleigh and reindeer. Wouldn’t be much fun, if it were never done. Christmas is my favourite time of the year. I like the presents, I like the cards. I like decorations in my house and my yard. I like baby Jesus born in the hay. After all that’s why we have a Christmas day. Child: I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old familiar colours play, And wild and sweet The words repeat Of peace on earth Good will to men. Child: I am a little Christmas Bell. I like to sing a Christmas song. When I sing, You hear me ring: Ding-dong! Ding-dong! Student 1: Christmas is the main holiday in the USA and Great Britain. On this day people try to show their love to each other and support a family unity. Student 2: Christmas is the time of presents, cheerful Christmas songs, decorations and tasty food. SONG “White Winter Hymnal” Student 1: On the day of Christ birth all animals and birds felt the special atmosphere on the earth, everyone saw a star in the sky which showed the way to the newborn. Student 2: There are many customs connected with birth of Christ dating back to pagan times. For example, the custom of decorating houses with branches of mistletoe and holly. These plants are symbols of peace and success.


Student 1: The next tradition, the Christmas Tree, was brought to Great Britain by Germany in the 19 century. The Christmas Tree is decorated with candles, balls, colourful garlands and the star is put on the top of it as a symbol of Bethlehem star.

Song “We Three Kings” Student 1: The wandering kings brought presents to the little Christ. Student 2: Therefore at Christmas people give each other presents. And there is an imaginary character who is loved by millions of children. In Ukraine he is called Father Frost, in America he is Santa Claus, an old man with a beard wearing a red coat. It is he who brings presents to children. He lives in the North Pole, all year round he together with his assistants, elves, prepare presents in the workshop. Elf 1: Get to work! It’s time to load the toys on the sleigh. Elf 2: Look at all this neat stuff. Elf 3: They didn’t have these many toys when I was a kid. Elf 4: Kids these days. They are all spoiled. Let’s pack the sleigh! Hey there elves, time to pack the sleigh. It’s off in the sky before Christmas Day. We have toys and games and puzzles too, All kinds of gifts for grownups too! Walkmans, balls and Barbie dolls, Spaceships, laser guns, that’s not all. Pinball, hockey games, Lego, Construx, Video, radio, all kinds of stuff. Rattles for the babies, perfume for your Mum, Socks for Dad, it’s fun, fun, fun! Dump trucks, fire trucks, racing cars, Power Rangers, toy guitars, Keyboards, pianos, noisy drums, Lots of toys, they are fun, fun, fun! Santa: Christmas is soon. Santa: (dubiously) You’re sure this is going to work? Tech 1: This is the newest Mac on the market, Santa. Tech 2: It has 200 Meg of Ram. Santa: Ram??? You mean there are sheep in it? Tech 1: That means memory, Santa. Tech 2: We have it hooked up to every light bulb in the entire world. Tech 1: Just type in a name and the computer will give you a read-out on their behaviour for the past 12 months. Santa: Let’s try it out ….. Oleksiy Oleksandrovych Klitsenko ( Type in the principal’s name, sound effects while the computer prints it out. Santa reads the printout.) This one doesn’t look too promising – plays tricks on teachers, doesn’t let them miss their lessons. O. M. She is very strict to the teachers and students, makes them learn a lot of things. I think this computer will really help us make our Christmas lists. Santa’s got a new computer helping Santa make his list. All the boys and girls are on his data base so no one’s missed.

That is why they write letters to Santa and on Christmas Eve children before going to bed leave some food and drinks for him. Child 1: Let’s make some cookies! Child 2: With raisins. Child 3: And chocolate chips. Child 4: Smarties Child 5: Sprinkles Child 6: We’ll cut them out in shapes. Child 7: Then we’ll put more candies on them. Child 8: And our cookies are ready. (Leave cookies on the table and sing a song) Song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” Child: I am a little Christmas bell I like to sing a Christmas song When I sing, you hear me ring, Ding-dong, ding-dong! Children: I’m happy, I’m happy That the holidays are coming. Snow is falling from the sky, Santa Claus is flying by. Turkey’s roasting, Stuffing’s baking, What a jolly mess We’re making!! Boys and girls are having fun All together: Peace on earth To everyone!

Slide “Santa’s House” Santa (is typing on the computer): A new nose for Rudolf, a new broom for Frosty, a whiteboard for school “Intellect”, a microphone for the 1-A form. What else? Ah, they are coming. We’ll see if they receive their presents. First graders: Santa, hello. Help us, please! Santa: All right! I’ve just learnt a new and very modern dance. If you dance with me I’ll make all your wishes come true. (Everybody is dancing to the music)


Child: We want to show you our dance. Children sing a song: “Christmas Dance” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” The clock strikes. Santa: Christmas has come! Merry Christmas!
