MARINA PARK FRI 4 OCT | 5:30PM-8:30PM We welcome you to the inaugural Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival. Artists create worlds of wonder, provocation and poignance which remind us of the importance of story. They shine light into dark places and provide commentary in difficult and challenging times. They also lead us into spaces for reflection, create moments of joy and uplift us.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR TEINA MOETARA

MĀUI PŪTAHI TE TAIRĀWHITI ARTS FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT

In this, our first festival we celebrate artists and connections to place while welcoming the world. We acknowledge our whakapapa connections near and far and celebrate the creativity that artists in their generosity lay before us. From Raukōkore to Rangitukia, Manutuke to Muriwai, Tikitiki to Tūranga-nui-ā-Kiwa/Gisborne, our region is alive with theatre, music, dance, visual arts, light and sound.

A concert featuring iconic musicians of Aotearoa. Join Dave Dobbyn, Anika Moa, Annie Crummer, Maisey Rika, Rob Ruha, Teeks and contemporary Hawaiian musician Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole for one unforgettable evening.

Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival has a simple kaupapa. We are of this place and its people. We are arts led and a platform for connection.
