ALetter to Myself

In honor of T&C's first issue, we have decided to tell the story behind two creative entrepreneurs from Hong Kong: Sonder Ceramics by Oliver and Gordey. Oliver and Gordey collaborated on an event called "WINDSPEED" back in March 19, 2023 at Hong Kong's K11 Atelier in Tsim Sha Tsui.

“WINDSPEED”focused on raising awareness on local bees and both artists have displayed their products and gave a speech on the day. This collaboration stemmed from their strong friendship, mutual love for bees and passion in making a positive difference in the environment. That being said, Redefining Love issue hopes to send out the message that love does not just have to be romantic, love can also be in friendships, love in one's self and for the community too.

Lumiere Runway is a Hong Kong and Los Angeles based production company started by Laurent Meler and Fionna Wong. Apart from the fact that Fionna Wong is from Hong Kong, Lumiere Runway also fell in love with the designers and the city's culture. " What also made us fall in love with the designers in Hong Kong were the traditions and creativity that this city and society could make them evolve into. We have found many brilliant designers and artists that have the potential to reinvent and modernize the perspective of being a creator in Hong Kong."

Oliver from Sonder Ceramics is an old friend of mine. I remember we met in the summer of 2016. At that time, he was a very talented and experienced hair director. Undoubtedly, he has had a significant impact on my growth process. "Windspeed" is a very profound art experience. We hope to present an ecological process through various forms of art and continue to emphasize the importance of local bees. This event has successfully raised a considerable amount of funds, allowing us to build two "Bee Hotels" for schools in Hong Kong. The "Bee Hotels" were designed and made by a local carpenter. Through this project, students can observe the ecology of solitary bees up close at school. At the same time, the "Bee Hotels" allow solitary bees to nest, lay eggs and reproduce in bamboo tubes or crevices.
