LSPU Tankers completes swimming

LSPU SPCC—Laguna State Polytechnic University swimmers boosted their bids to the forthcoming University-Wide Meet when they tested the waters during the 59th Foundation Day cum Intramurals Meet held at the University Pool on September 12. Women’s Division College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA) tanker Danica Rose Alcantara swam to the first place in the 50-meter butterfly stroke event. CBMA continued to dominated the 50-meter backstroke when Mary Joy Cañales Bracket, A; Judy Ann Caricot, Bracket B; Danica Rose Alcantara, Bracket C; and Dianne Therese Butingan, Bracket D managed to grab four more golds. Furthermore, Caricot plucked her first spot on 50-meter breast College of Hotel Management and Tourism (CHMT) conquers College of Engineering (COE) during the final match of Lawn Tennis Men’s Single Category, September 11. After the elimination round of different departments, CHMT and COE went to the final round and played a first-to-sevenpoint where Niko Ferrer of CHMT overpowered Mikael Leo Umali from COE, 6-1. Moreover, Xhania Miles Escondo Bracket A from College of Engineering (COE) received her gold in the freestyle event. Joining her were Caricot, Bracket B; another Inhiñeros’ Judy Ann Macatangay in Bracket C and Butingan for Bracket D. Men’s Division John Paul Macawili, Bracket A from the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) paddled his first gold in the butterfly stroke. Along with Macawili were the CHMT swimmers Khyleduane Delmolin, Bracket B and Cris Miguel Dignadice, Bracket C. Dignadice, Bracket A nabbed his advantage for 50-meter backstroke while Eljon Solis, Bracket B and Renz Escueta, Bracket C also bagged gold together with Amirkhled Ardales from CIT. In 50-meter breast stroke, Dignadice Bracket A, COE’s Noel Emerson Coronado, Bracket B, CBMA’s Angelo Adalin Bracket C, and Ardales Bracket D copped their gold medals. Enzo Rico Donato Bracket A from College of Computer Studies, Coronado, Bracket B; CBMA’s Mark Ceejay Alcantara, Bracket C, and Denzel Soriano, Bracket D from CHMT plunged their gold in freestyle. Awarded tankers from different colleges will represent LSPU-SPCC in the coming University-Wide 2019. **** Ferrer was able to hit more points on the first five match however missed the pace at the sixth match giving way for the opponent to score. In the first set, Umali had consecutive faulty shots which allowed Ferrer to smash scoring 1-0, as well as during second set which resulted in 2-0. Umali did not get a chance to score until the fifth set after Ferrer kept scoring successively resulting in 5-0. However, Ferrer missed the first three shots after Umali gave a serve leading 5-1. Ferrer, however bounced back during the last set of the game with a series of smashes leading the opponent to miss the two shots which resulted to Ferrer’s victory win. Ferrer will represent LSPU-SPCC during the University-Wide Intramurals Meet 2019. **** 16 sports DIVE DEEP. Student swimmers competed for podium finish and U-wide representation.
