Representative Robinson started the Month of March taking FLIGHT! The National Organization of Black Elected Legislators Women held their Executive Board Meeting in Montgomery, Alabama. Representative Robinson is the newly elected Treasurer. The weekend was filled with fellowship, African American History, planning, and painting with a twist!
Jazz in the Gardens this year was wonderful! The line up included: Jill Scott, Jodeci, Ari Lennox, EL
DeBarge, Adam Blackstone, Erykah Badu, Charlie Wilson, Sean Paul, Keyshia Cole, Chandler Moore, Kierra Sheard, Pastor Mike Jr. and Mike Phillips!
Isaiah-Vaughn Troutman is a Senior at Nova High School. He came to Tallahassee to serve in our Messenger Program during his Spring Break. He participates in Track and Field, Robotics Club, Engineering Club and Math Club at Nova. It was a pleasure to have him in the Capitol.
The Teacher's Lounge is an event that Representative Robinson sponsors to show Teachers how much they are appreciated. She along with her sponsors pamper teachers with a brunch, and a gift basket. This Teacher's Lounge event focused on selfcare. Each attendee recieve a yoga mat, and a gift bag. Lots of vendors came out as well.
The 2023 Miami Open is a professional hardcourt tennis tournament played in March at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Both men and women played with prizes up to eight million dollars.
In addition to being a diva, Representative Robinson is not afraid to roll up her sleeves for a little hard work. When the City of Miami Gardens calls for a cleanup she is right there; gloves and trash bags ready for her assignment! This is a wonderful way to keep our city beautiful! Next time you should join in too!
This event took place at the Historical Dunns Josephine Hotel in Overtown, to celebrate Black Women in Law. The event was sponsored by Phoenacolada Vodka.
On March 31, 2023, The Florida Black Legislative Caucus hosted its Annual Brunch. This year's brunch had a Bridgerton Theme and was titled, "Come in and Spill the Tea!" The Luncheon replicated a Renaissance Tea Party!
This Legislative Black Caucus Weekend was filled with fun! We started with our High Noon Bridgerton Luncheon, and moved to our Bridgerton Gala and ended with this wonder Brunch sponsored by Sean Pittman Law Group. Delicious food was served for each event! Live entertainment and fantastic fellowship. Although this has been a rough session for Democrats, events like these help us to keep fighting for victory!
On April 16-18 the Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., came to Tallahassee to visit the Capitol. There was RED everywhere! Members were fired up to help advocate for social change and impactful public policy.
In the House Chamber asking questions, debating, presenting amendments and voting! Never a dull moment!
These are a few of the BILLS that were passed this legislative session. I encourage you to go to MyFloridaHouse.gov to look at different bills that were passed. As a super minority, Democrats didn't have much say in what passed or didn't pass. You can check the records to see who voted for good bills and bad bills. I can say that I along with most of my Democratic Colleagues voted NO on all of these bills!
The bill allocates $12 million for transporting migrants out of state. Creates penalties for employers who knowingly employ unauthorized aliens, effective July 1, 2024
18 Year old's can purchase guns
This bill changes the legal age of purchasing or being gifted a rifle from 21 to 18 years of age.
Florida State Guard
Increases number of members in Governors private militia and gives money for purchase of airplanes.
School Vouchers
Revises provisions relating to scholarship programs, and other educational regulations for public schools.
Administers changes to public sector unions that may potentially decrease workers' benefits of union membership
Allows citizens to carry concealed firearm in public spaces without necessarily requiring them to carry their firearm permit.
Restricts the available voting methods available to vulnerable and disadvantaged communities
Prevents eligibility for funding for diversity, equity, and inclusionrelated coursework and extracurriculars at public universities.
Limits abortions after six weeks’ gestational age, instead of the current 15-week limit.
Constituent Marchee Evans contacted the office of State Representative Robinson due to an ongoing Rental assistance issue Marche Evans has two daughters ages 11, 5 and is currently 7 months pregnant. Ms. Evans is unable to work due to pregnancy complications, she is due to have her baby in two months and has been in dispute with Miami Dade Community Action department seeking Rental assistance for weeks. After several calls and no resolution to her case, someone suggested to Ms. Evans to reach out to the office of Representative Felicia Robinson
Marchee Evans contacted the office of Representative Robinson and spoke with Dollie West who further assisted Ms. Evans with her concern. After speaking with Ms. Evans, Dollie advised that she would look into the Rental assistance for her and follow up with her.
Dollie West placed a call to the Office of Mayor Cava who directed Dollie to the Community Action department. After receiving the information, Dollie contacted the Supervisor Chamar West who further assisted with Ms Evans case Mr West spoke with the ERAP department and advised that Ms Evans application was still being processed After several days and no response, Dollie called Mr. West and again was advised that the application had not been processed. After a lengthy conversation explaining Ms. Evans situation in detail to Mr. West he spoke with a supervisor to help further assist with this matter. After two weeks of assisting this constituent ERAP finally granted Ms. Evans rental assistance for her and her family. Ms. Evans received an email and a phone call advising her of the approval Ms Evans and her landlord were issued a check in the amount of $8672
