Welcome everyone to the hottest month. This month becomes hottest not only because of the weather but it is also hottest as it is the beginning of our new fiscal year.

As for the past Songkran holidays, we hope that everyone can spend your leisure time with friends and family and recharge yourself to be ready for the coming up challenges.

In this April, we also welcome our new president Mr. Tatsuro Takami. In this issue, Mr. Takami would like to share his message and direction with all TMAP members.

The story of TMAP-EM is still continue, last issue we have shared information about Technical Center Group on their roles to support the affiliates and region. In this issue, we are moving to another key important function which is Production Engineering.

Mr. Tanyatat Kongtalearngsiriwattana, Manager of Production Engineering Planning division, will tell us about PE story.

Many activities were conducted such as regional meetings, contests and competitions, CSR activities and club activities.

Moreover, we will have column about “3 Secrets to change the serious workplace to be fun and happy workplace” by Mr. Withoon Soongkitboon, Manager of Vehicle Evaluation division.

As for the back cover, we would like cast up about “Code of conduct”. If you notice any misconduct, please report in by 3 channels. The first is “Consult with your supervisor”. The second is “Discuss with the relevant division” and the last is “Inform to Whistle Blowing system”.

Message from President Greetings to all TMAP-EM members,

now in Thailand and very honored to be in charge in the president position of TMAP-EM.

Since 1 April 2016, I am assigned to TMAP-EM as president and I am very delighted to be working with all of you.

As this is the beginning of the new fiscal year, I would like to emphasize on the direction which was communicated by Mr. Tanada since January 2016.

Regarding my self-introduction, my name is TATSURO TAKAMI, preferably to call me as TAKAMI-san.

We must recognize that our environment is changing rapidly. All of us are in need to “Re Born”! Awakening your spirit of challenge and making drastic change of ourselves to win the competition.

I have worked for 31 years after entering TMC in 1985.

Firstly, I belonged to Production Engineering #1 Division, where I am responsible for Tooling Engineering Department. After 10 years, I was transferred to Production Engineering Planning Division, where this division manages human resources, equipments and investment in production preparation for global TOYOTA. Therefore, I had experience not only technological management but also office work management.

Afterwards, I was transferred to TEMA in the United States from 2004 to 2007 where I built up the product line of the engine and transmission shop.

Then I returned to Japan and I had experience in manufacturing division as a General Manager at Kinuura plant.

In 2013, I became Executive General Manager of Kinuura plant and Miyoshi plant. In 2014, I am in charge in Unit Center Production Engineering field. And last year 2015, I became Managing Officer who taking care of the Strategic Top Executive Meeting Office, Corporate Planning Division and Environmental Affairs Division. I am

I would like to restate the four words, “Passion, Leadership, Communication in process, and Determination in Genchi-Genbutsu rapidly”.

Finally, let me express three requests for all of you.

First is acceleration of self-reliance.

Second is dealing with environmental restrictions.

Third is further enhancement of our member’s motivation.

Remember, to exceed expectations and be rewarded with a smile, we need talent and passion from all of you to make ever-better Toyota.

Mr. tanyatat kongtalearngsiriwattana From last TMAPGAZINE, we have introduced job scope of Vehicle Evaluation Division in Technical Center Group. In order to provide knowledge and understandable job scope of each group in TMAP-EM, editorial team has invited Mr. Tanyatat Kongtalearngsiriwattana, Project Manager of Production Engineering Planning in Production Engineering Group, to tell us about PE story in this issue.

A car is assembled from more than thirty thousand parts, consisting of largest parts such as car seat, engine, wheel and the smallest parts, such as bolts and nuts. Development and production of a high quality Toyota cars are required good collaboration and quality of each function, starting from Design, Manufacturing Preparation, Operation and Human Resources until Sales Planning and delivering vehicles to our customers with smile.

“If we will open a noodle restaurant, our products are noodles.

So, how to cook a bowl of noodles? First, we need to create noodle recipe. After that, we will find a building; counter or anything to build a restaurant. We will prepare noodle pot, equipment and seasoning.

Also, we have to plan the restaurant layout and cooking process, hire a chef to cook delicious noodles, and can serve customers in a timely manner.”

From the above paragraph about noodle restaurant, we may make comparison as following; the noodle recipe idea is R&D or Designer. The preparation of pot, equipment, and layout and operation process is PE. The last process of cooking delicious noodles is Production or Plant.

For TMAP-EM PE, I would like to define PE job scope as follows; “PE is responsible for providing timely, efficient and high quality support for production preparation process and equipment from the stage of design, fabrication through installation and trial stage to produce the quality Toyota cars (Ever-Better Cars)”. I hope that all of you understand about PE job scope and “what is PE role in the Development and Manufacturing process of Toyota car?” Next, I would like to explain about the detail of each PE function.

Core function in TMAP-EM PE 1) Press & Die PE 2) Body PE and Paint PE 3) Unit PE 4) Exterior PE 5) Assembly PE

The above core functions of PE have similar job characteristics that are equipment, machine and manufacturing processes preparation for production of cars. To visualize and to understand easily, I will explain as following; We separate car manufacturing into three major parts; Body production, Engine Production and Vehicle Assembly. Body production starts from stamping of steel plates to be body parts such as floor, side body (side member), door, roof and etc. This process is taken care by Press & Die PE. After that, all body parts are assembled by welding. This process is responsible

Unit PE is in charge of engine production by preparing equipment, tooling and production process for casting, machining and engine assembly.

The last function is Assembly PE. Assembly PE prepare equipment, conveyor and processes to assemble vehicle body with engine and others parts such as car seat, wheel, etc. including bumper and instrument panel (which is taken care by Exterior PE). And it will also prepare inspection line to check car quality before delivering to customers.

Moreover, 5 core functions of PE above, there are more functions in TMAP-EM PE that involved in the preparation of Toyota car development and manufacturing, for example, Vehicle Project Planning, SEIBI PE which is taken care of installation and check the equipment and robots following Toyota standard. There are also many planning and support functions such as PE planning which is in charge of strategic and business planning, investment planning and human

Not only we achieve the working target, but also we are committed to develop our staff, improve working methods and apply technology into our working process to enhance TMAP-EM PE to be “Global Center of Production Preparation of IMV and small car”.

7th Asia Pacific Vehicle Logistics Working Group Meeting

231B GENZU Prototype Part Design Review (Part Dr)

Conducted by : Technical Planning Division Date : 25 - 28 January 2016 Objective : Discuss difficulty concern of production part with TMAP-EM designers.

Activity : This is the first time to invite TH supplier, affiliate and related department in Toyota to involve design issue feedback by confirming Genzu prototype parts in early stage. 194 Prototype parts and drawing have been reviewed and brainstormed among related members. We have realized production concern from local demand.

TPCAP CSR Activity 1. Traffic Equipment donation to police station: 21 December 2015 Sanphudad police station is our TPCAP local police station which facilitates the traffic and prevent criminal for us and local people. But the communication system is inefficient, only communicate in short distance, so we donated the repeater* system for more long distance communication to cover all response area. * Repeater is a combination of a radio receiver and radio transmitter, so the signal can cover longer distance.

2. Long holiday safety promotion with policeman & community: 21 December 2015 Due to New Year long holidays, many people use the road to go home and travelling to visit their family. Accidents can be occurred.

This campaign was conducted for preventing and reducing accidents.

We join with Sanphudad police station to promote safety driving to all passengers by providing many materials, such as Toyota Inhaler, drinking water, canned coffee and coffee candy.

Thai Music Instrument Donation

Due to the lack of music instrument for musical activity, so that, on 5 February 2016 our TPCAP donated Thai musical instrument to Wat Piphitprasartsunthorn School. We hope this activity will improve children’s Thai musical skill and preserve Thai culture.

by Mr. Chaowalit Boonrod officially opened the ceremony and delivered “Bus Stop” in Bang Bo district, Samut Prakan province.

TMAP-EM considered about safety of bus user in Bang Bo area and directly concerned with their daily life. Therefore, TMAP-EM has renovated this bus stop for the public by using some recycled material in the construction.

Annual Offsite Meeting FYE2016 for TMAP-EM Trainers Date : 8 - 9 February 2016 Objective : 1. To promote and develop our trainers in many topics 2. To communicate issues or information about training class of the previous fiscal year 3. To enhance the relationship between trainers of each class Training & Development is one of TMAP-EM emphasis to develop our employees and the main component for training & development is “Trainer”. In TMAP-EM, trainers are our employees who dedicated themself to develop their training skills, contents, and building good environment in classroom.

HRD realized about the importance of training skills, so we conducted “Annual Offsite Meeting” which is our fourth times at Chatrium River Side Hotel. The main moderator (Trainer) is Jimmy the coach; Coaching Guru. He not only coached but he also analyzed & evaluated, and built up Listening & Communication skill to our trainers. Our trainers can gain much knowledge which really can apply to their own training sessions.

If we mention about the language we use in TMAP-EM, firstly we will think of English language because TMAP-EM is “Regional Headquarter” which has to collaborate with other affiliates in Asia-Pacific. HRD concerned about English communication skill, so we arranged training course to develop our Non-management employees through 6 courses; Novice, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, and Advance level.

In every courses, HRD worked with CT&T Learning center (developed from Chulalongkorn University) with mainly concept to improve English for every employees based on needed skills and align with their assignment to build up the level proficiency.

Social Security Fund Benefit Part 4 Greeting! welcome back to TMAPGAZINE. This time, we would like to share an important benefit of Social Security Office for “Old Age Pension” which started to pay since 2014. Shall we see the detail.

Regulation and Calculation Methodology There are 2 types of pension benefit which are lump sum and monthly basis payment. The regulations are as follows;

3 Tips

to change the serious workplace to be fun and happy workplace Mr. Withoon Soongkitboon - Manager

In one day, we spend time for work more than staying at home. It is important to consider about working life in each day. As Vehicle Evaluation Division get the highest Employee Engagement Score of Technical Center Group. I would like to utilize this space in our magazine to share about our “How to make happy workplace” and “Job achievement” from my opinion.

After our division work together and find facts, we can consolidate and summarize on “How to make happy workplace” by 3 factors as follows; 1. Good man 2. Good job 3. Good management

1. Good man The trick that we found is Recruitment process and the respect for each other. We are dedicated to select people with similar preferences (either on the job or hobby), because it can reduce unnecessary conflicts of different opinions. We will try to attend the interview session as much as possible before selecting our staff. We try to find the character and personality of candidates, and evaluate DNA of candidates that match with our division.

There is also our division culture “Mentoring”. We emphasize that direct supervisor or mentor have to give priority to hearing problems from members. This solution can reduce man problem in our division.

2. Good job

Sometimes, we're here all day.

Many people know that Vehicle Evaluation Division job is the dream job of a man who loves the vehicle. Because more than half of work, we will work with car such as driving, testing parts, making Drawing and evaluating in Test building. If someone walks through our desk in office, maybe you cannot see our members on their desk (Laugh). We have a chance to test at the plant and also we have to go outside to survey customer requirements at other countries frequently.

Management Finally, I would like to show our culture and activities in my division.

1. After annual Technical Center group photo taking, we will arrange Vehicle Evaluation group photo taking. If someone in division have business trip, we do not forget to print their photos to take photo also. It is our division culture.

2. More than 80% participation of division annual trip. Some years more than 100% because our members take parents, relatives and friends together.

3. The last working day in TMAP-EM of Expat Japanese, all members in division will do a standing ovation and take them back home.

4. Every member’s birthday, we will celebrate them together.

5. We will have theme of party every time. The most impressive theme is super hero theme. One of our members wears Going Merry ship.

6. We will conduct only Thai members meeting every week (around 40-50 persons) to share information about safety, working and personal issue.

7. We will conduct EE survey within division by ourselves every year and set KPI and target in Division Hoshin. Survey result and countermeasure will be announced to all members.
