Only son of Dr. Arne; b. 1740? ; d. 1786. See D. N.B. Dr. Burney, who was an intimate of the Ames, said that Michael was a natural son. There were two brothers Strickland (or Mannock) ; John, b . 1723, and Joseph, b. 1724. Both were at St. Gregory's, Paris ; John was ordained in 1747, and his brother the next year. \V.M.'s visitor was probably John as he went to Louvain as confessor to the nuns and might travel via St. Orner; he became eccentric, a nd died in Paris in 1802.
