Dear Realtist Nation,
As I reflect on my time as President of the Dearborn Realtist Board, my heart is filled with gratitude for each of you—our board of directors, our dedicated members, and our generous partners. Your unwavering support has been the backbone of our mission to create economic opportunities and advance housing initiatives in our communities. Together, we have proven that advocacy in real estate is not just necessary; it is essential. When I first stepped into this role, I won’t lie—it was daunting. I struggled with feelings of self-doubt, questioning whether I truly belonged here as THE PRESIDENT. But as I embraced the responsibilities, I discovered something profound: I was not only prepared for this moment, but I was also surrounded by a community that believed in me. The past two years have taught me invaluable lessons about leadership, authenticity, and the courage to ask tough questions. I’ve learned the importance of empowering others to step into their own roles as leaders, and that while speaking truth to power may not always be popular, it is always necessary.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the 2023-2025 DRB leadership team. You have been an incredible group to lead and serve, inspiring me every step of the way. Thank you for your trust, your challenges, and your willingness to grow alongside me. I truly hope that your experiences here will lead to
lasting positive changes in your lives. Your contributions have made a significant impact on the lives of many. Thank you for your service.
To our members, your steadfast commitment to democracy in housing has been nothing short of inspiring. You are the heart of our organization, and your dedication fuels our mission every day. Thank you for your support.
And to our annual partners, your support is invaluable. Your contributions enable us to make a tangible difference in the communities we serve. Because of you, we can educate thousands of families, assist college students with scholarships, empower emerging developers, provide toys and turkey baskets to those in need, and much more. Your belief in our vision allows us to lift others and create lasting change.
Thank you all for trusting me to lead, educate, and empower. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for housing and our communities.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Sanina Ellison Jones, President, 2023-25 Dearborn Realtist Board
Hey everyone,
I just wanna say thank you for being here. It’s an honor to serve as co-chair alongside Madam Natasha. When we first talked about this event, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I knew we’d make it happen—and here we are.
Big thanks to leadership for all the hard work. I couldn’t do this without my team, and I appreciate each and every one of you.
Big thanks to all the leadership—Madam Presi-
dent, Fosta Wilson, and our outgoing President for their dedication.
Leadership is what makes moments like this possible, and we are all in this together.
Leadership isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. Let’s keep pushing and making a difference.
Thanks again,
Brother Brian
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for gracing us with your presence and making the 84th Annual Dearborn Realtist Board Gala and Installation Ceremony an unforgettable success. Your participation and enthusiasm have truly made this event a celebration to remember.
It is truly an honor to stand before you as the chair of the Gala Committee, particularly as we launch this inaugural brunch event. My journey into leadership began with the Women’s Council Board, and in 2022, I was appointed by Madam President Sanina to serve as a Dearborn board member under her guidance. From the moment I joined, I was welcomed with warmth by the leadership of Dearborn. I didn’t expect anything in return—my focus was simply on working hard to support Brother Brian and to chair my first event for Dearborn. That experience taught me invaluable lessons about the immense dedication, passion, and commitment leadership requires, and how it can profoundly impact the lives of others. A heartfelt thank you to my co-chair, Brother Brian, whom I affectionately refer to as the “real VP.” This event is truly his vision, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to it. I’d also like to express my deep appreciation to my third and fourth chairs, Madam Tiffany Gaji and Kim Collins. Your unwavering support, dedication, and teamwork have been invaluable. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who worked tirelessly, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight, to bring this event to life. Your efforts are indispensable, and without your commitment, this celebration would not have been possible. As we come together for this special occasion, I’d like to offer my warm congratulations to our new President, Fosta Wilson. We also express our deep gratitude to our outgoing President for their leadership, and
we congratulate the new board members. We are all part of a greater community, and leadership is the thread that connects us all. As we “spring into Leadership,” I encourage each of you who is destined for greatness to step forward and seize this opportunity. Leadership isn’t always easy, but it is a journey that brings immense rewards. As I always say, “I work for the Lord,” and I invite you to join me in that mission of service and giving back. Leadership is not merely a responsibility—it is a gift. It is a privilege to serve, and there is no greater satisfaction than leading by example, just as those before us have done. A special thank you to Bronzeville Winery for your continued support and for helping to make this event even more memorable. Finally, I want to recognize all the individuals and organizations being honored tonight. Your contributions and commitment to making a difference are deeply appreciated.
May we all be blessed as we continue on this journey of leadership, and may each of us find the courage and strength to lead with passion and purpose. Let us take this moment to reflect on how we can make a lasting,
meaningful impact on the lives of others. Thank you all for being here and for your steadfast support.
Blessings and gratitude,
Natasha Robinson Chair, Gala Committee
Spring into leadership. is a fantastic way to think about how you can embrace new opportunities for growth, action, and empowerment—especially as the season of spring represents renewal, growth, and fresh starts. Just as nature comes alive with new energy and vibrance, it’s a great time to approach leadership with a sense of enthusiasm, openness, and motivation.
Here’s how you can “spring into leadership” and make the most of this dynamic season: 1. Embrace Change and New Opportunities Spring is a time of transition, which mirrors the way good leaders should approach change. Whether you’re stepping into a new leadership role or taking on new responsibilities in your volunteer organization, now is the perfect moment to embrace change. • Action: Seek out new projects or initiatives that can push the boundaries of what your team has done before. • Benefit: This proactive approach will not only help you grow as a leader but also inspire those around you to bring fresh ideas and energy to the team. 2. Foster Growth in Others Just as plants grow and bloom in spring, so too should the people you lead. Leadership is about nurturing others, helping them grow, and creating an environment where they feel empowered to develop their skills and reach their potential. • Action: Offer mentorship and constructive feedback to help your team members develop their leadership skills. Encourage them to take on new challenges. • Benefit: By fostering growth in others, you’re building a stronger, more cohesive team that can thrive long-term. 3. Revitalize Your Vision Spring is a time when nature feels renewed, and the same can happen with your leadership vision. It’s important to revisit and refresh your goals and objectives to ensure they align with the evolving needs of your team and organization. • Action: Hold a team meeting to reassess goals, share ideas for growth, and discuss any changes or improvements needed. • Benefit: A revitalized vision can help reinvigorate the team and provide everyone with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. 4. Build Strong Relationships.
Just as spring brings different elements of nature into harmony, a leader must also build strong relationships with their team. Open communication and strong interpersonal connections are crucial for fostering trust and collaboration. • Action: Take time to connect with team members individually or in small groups. Celebrate their achievements, and ask how you can support them better. • Benefit: Stronger relation-
ships create a more cohesive and engaged team, which improves productivity and morale. 5. Lead with Positivity and Energy The energy of spring is infectious, so make sure your leadership mirrors that energy. Lead with positivity, enthusiasm, and optimism, especially when challenges arise. Your attitude can set the tone for the rest of the team. • Action: Start meetings with a positive reflection or recognition of accomplishments. Be a source of encouragement, especially during difficult tasks or times. • Benefit: A positive leader is often the one who can rally the team even in tough moments, creating a more resilient and motivated group. 6. Take Initiative and Be Proactive Spring is all about action—plants don’t wait for the perfect conditions, they just start growing. As a leader, you can model this initiative by taking action before issues arise and being proactive in shaping the future of your organization. • Action: Identify areas that need attention or improvement and tackle them before they become bigger challenges. Take on new projects or offer solutions to existing problems. • Benefit: Being proactive shows that you’re dedicated to progress and leadership, creating a forward-thinking team that also takes action. 7. Cultivate a Culture of Collaboration Just as various elements of spring— rain, sunlight, soil—work together to help things grow, collaboration is key in any successful leadership role. Encourage teamwork, brainstorming, and the sharing of ideas. • Action: Foster open spaces for creativity and idea-sharing. Create opportunities for collaboration within your team and across other groups within the organization. • Benefit: When a leader encourages collaboration, it leads to better decision-making, innovation, and a stronger sense of community among team members. 8. Reflect and Renew Your Leadership Practices
Spring is a great time for reflection, to assess what’s working and what isn’t. Self-awareness is an important leadership trait, so take time to assess your strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. • Action: Set aside time for self-reflection. Consider asking for feedback from your team, mentors, or peers on how you can improve. • Benefit: Regular reflection and adjustments will help you grow as a leader, ensuring that you are always evolving and adapting to meet new challenges. Spring into leadership by embracing change, fostering growth, and leading with energy and a renewed sense of purpose. Just as nature flourishes in the spring, your leadership can bloom with the right mindset, dedication, and focus on collaboration, development, and vision. So, take this season of renewal as your cue to step into leadership with passion and purpose, and watch how both you and your team thrive!
Democracy in housing is a fundamental principle that advocates for the equitable distribution of resources, decision-making power, and opportunities within residential communities. It embodies the idea that every individual deserves a voice and agency in matters concerning their living environment, regardless of socio-economic status or background. This concept extends beyond mere occupancy rights; it encompasses the notion of collective ownership, participatory governance, and social cohesion within residential spaces.
democracy in housing means having equal opportunities and fair treatment in accessing housing options without facing discrimination or systemic barriers.
Moreover, democracy in housing serves as a bulwark against discrimination, exploitation, and marginalization. By empowering residents to have a say in matters that directly affect their lives, it helps safeguard against unjust practices and ensures that everyone’s rights and needs are respected and upheld. This principle is particularly crucial in addressing systemic inequalities, such as housing segregation, gentrification, and affordable housing shortages, which disproportionately impact marginalized communities.
In conclusion, democracy in housing is not merely a theoretical concept but a practical framework for creating inclusive, resilient, and thriving communities. By embracing principles of equity, participation, and accountability, societies can build housing systems that reflect their democratic values and aspirations, where every individual has the opportunity to live with dignity, security, and autonomy.

I lead a passionate team of Community Home Lending Advisors whose sole mission is to support and grow home ownership in many communities across Chicago. Based out of Chicago, Illinois my team expands across both South & West sides of Chicago, Milwaukee, as well as Gary, IN, and we work closely with our communities to help people in underserved areas realize their dream of home ownership. As a Community Lending Manager, my team and I work directly with customers in the neighborhoods we serve, setting customers on the road to home ownership and while increasing racial equity. Non-profit housing advocates, churches, Realtors, and other community organizations are vital partners with my team and are crucial to getting information to our clients about home lending opportunities with Chase. With the strength and commitment of Chase, we can support their buying and sustaining a home for their families in the communities we love. Communities are made of families and mine’s a great one. My wife of 25 years, Tiffanie, and I have four children: Elissa, Hayley, Alexandra and Ethan. In our free time we love being together outdoors—biking, walking or during these recent months, simply enjoying a Friday movie night at home. Like many in our community, I am a decorated combat veteran. During nearly nine years as a United States Marine, I served in 16 countries and at four U.S. Embassies. My passions include helping families on their home ownership journey and strengthening the communities where we live and serve.
