Here we are, autumn 2023 already. It’s been a fantastic year at Taunton Brewhouse and we’re now gearing up for a tremendous festive treat, collaborating with Pleasure Dome Theatre to bring you a new version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Expect all the festive trimmings with an extra sprinkling of South West magic!

If you are stuck for present ideas, why not create your own? We have plenty of arts and crafts workshops and are also looking forward to a visit from the big man in red.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL 4-30 DECEMBER | TIMES VARY

This December, go on a thrilling journey to the past, present, and future with our brand new musical, A Christmas Carol.

Meet the heartless Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and three spirits – each with an important message. Will they persuade Scrooge to change his miserly ways, or will he be doomed… forever?

Inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic yuletide tale, and gleefully adapted for the stage by the acclaimed Pleasure Dome Theatre Company, this joyous retelling will fright and delight audiences of all ages. Expect enchanting puppetry, original music, and a sprinkling of Somerset magic, directed by West End theatre-maker Scott Le Crass.

New for the festive season, Father Christmas is setting up a residency at Taunton Brewhouse and he would love to meet you! Step into our sustainable winter forest, create a craft, and meet the man himself as he is busy preparing for the big day in his Somerset workshop. Each child will leave with a locally sourced gift that they can have fun with at home. And as we’re a theatre, Father Christmas has found a few production elves to add a touch of magic to the whole experience, making this sure to be a day to remember.

It’s Christmas Eve and Sue the Zoo Keeper is struggling to get mischievous Little Monkey to bed. Little Angel Theatre, bring the universally popular song “Five Little Monkeys” to life.

Learn to love counting during a riot of music, numbers, and clowning in a madcap monkey puppet zoo!

Developed in collaboration with early years numeracy specialists, Five Little Christmas Monkeys encourages curiosity about numbers and counting through playful humour and music.

INTRODUCTION TO COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE

We open an hour before each event so please arrive with plenty of time to get seated. Our bar is stocked with a range of premium drinks, ice creams and snacks. We serve drinks in reusable plastic glasses which can be taken into the auditorium at showtime. Please return them to the bar once you have finished your drink.

We’re in the heart of Taunton on the banks of the River Tone. We’re a 15 minute walk from the nearest train station and multiple car parks are nearby. Visit our website for more details.

Level access to all our theatre spaces. Book wheelchair spaces online or by contacting the Box Office. Our Box Office and Auditorium are fitted with a hearing loop. To use the facility, switch your hearing device to the ‘T’ position.

Assistance animals welcome. Please contact the Box Office when booking. There are 2 blue badge bays located next to the theatre in the Coal Orchard Car Park. You can find more disabled parking on St James Street, or in the Canon and Wood Street car parks.
