As the summer retreats and children head back to school, it would be easy to feel a little bit down. Here at Taunton Brewhouse, we have plenty to keep you entertained until Christmas.
September brings you the music of Lionel Richie, Elton John, and Herman’s Hermits, as well as comedy from Shaparak Khorsandi, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, and Alfie Brown.
Later in the year, we welcome Martin Fry, Mark Watson, and the bright eyed and bushy tailed Basil Brush. For families, stories leap from page to stage with colourful adaptations of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Little Red Riding Could

Somerset Art Works members will be responding to the theme of ‘Landscape: Flux and Flow’ by considering care and repair for ourselves, in conjunction with the natural and manmade environment and how we live within it.
Group 7 consists of established artists who produce powerfully mature and expressive works, where colour is a common denominator. Connections highlights their shared foundation in abstraction, despite distinct individual styles. Each artist exhibits globally, with works in various prestigious collections and publications.

A weekly art group for those who are returning to art after a break and would like the chance to try out a variety of materials in a fun and sociable group. You’ll explore techniques such as still life, watercolour, acrylics, and monoprinting under the guidance of local artist Lynne Mackay.

Creative dance and play for children under 5 and their adults. Each session includes a child-friendly warm up, action songs, improvisation, free play, and fun weekly themes. Led by community dance and circus specialist Lucy Hartland-Mann.

Our dynamic Youth Theatre is designed to inspire, excite, and celebrate young people with an interest in performing and producing theatre. Over the 10-week term, each of our groups will learn new skills, develop performance techniques, and build confidence.

A series of visual art short courses in which to explore acrylic painting, lino printing, and mixed media landscapes, as well as learn how to create a Christmas wreath using recycled materials.

Spend an enjoyable day needle felting a wool sculpture of a hare on a wire armature frame. Needle felting is an enjoyable and somewhat addictive hobby - no sewing or glue is involved, just the wool, a felting needle, and you!

Learn to knit chunky with Dawn Hurd of Hurd & Co, the award-winning knitwear brand. In this fun workshop, Dawn will take you through all the basics and you’ll leave with a good understanding of how to continue your first knitting project.

This one-day course targets people who may have purchased an SLR camera and are unsure of what all the various buttons actually do! By the end of the day, you will have met some like-minded people and feel more confident about using your camera.

In this festive silver jewellery making workshop, you will discover the magic of using metal clay to make magical winter trinkets in just a few hours. You will learn how to shape, process, fire, and finish your pieces with a few simple tools.

In these festive workshops, you’ll learn how to needlefelt a majestic reindeer and/or adorable robin using wool and wire. They will make perfect gifts or decorations for the Christmas tree.

Learn how to make beautiful statement flowers using the amazing properties of wool and wet felting techniques – no sewing involved! All materials and equipment are provided, including brooch pins. Workshop instruction sheets are also provided to take home.

Join us for a relaxing evening of paper craft using book pages and sheet music. You’ll make some lovely decorations to take home and will also have the option to leave a few to form part of our Christmas installation in the gallery.

Join local artist Amanda Webb and make a sustainable willow deer sculpture from locally grown Somerset willow. No experience is necessary as you will be guided through the process. Just make sure to wear clothes you do not mind getting a tad messy!

Add more colour to your life with quirky festive jewellery, handmade by you! Join this amazing jewellery making class and learn how to make earrings using your very own designs, or perhaps take inspiration from some of the remarkable examples on display.
Whatever your function, we have a variety of spaces to suit your needs.

By volunteering with us, you’ll be contributing to our ability to deliver exciting live events, cinema screenings, and contemporary art to the county town of Somerset, as well as supporting local artists and creatives.

We open an hour before each event, so please arrive with plenty of time to get comfortable. Our bar is stocked with a range of premium drinks, ice creams, and snacks. We serve drinks in reusable plastic glasses which can be taken into the auditorium at showtime. Please return these to the bar or drink bins when finished. The bar closes after the interval.
We’re located in the heart of Taunton and just a short 15-minute walk from the nearest train station. There are also multiple car parks nearby. Visit our website for details.
