HESWALL traders have been protesting to the council about high parking charges which could potentially deter customers from visiting the town.

Local traders are facing a hard job competing with out of town retail giants who can offer free parking, so it’s imperative that visitors are encouraged to shop here without fear of being slapped with a hefty fine if they fall foul of the wardens!

REGULAR EVENTS IN HESWALL Tuesdays The Parade Jazz Club: Jazz sessions are held upstairs at the Boathouse, Parkgate, every Tuesday starting at 8.30pm. The 7 piece Parade Jazz Band plays a broad spectrum of traditional and mainstream tunes from their extensive repertoire gathered over 25 years of playing there. Heswall school’s fun in the sun There were loads of activities at the Heswall Primary School summer fair, including a fantastic gokart slide and gladiator pit, among others.

Heswall Hall Community Trust (HHCT) needs volunteers

Can you help out at your local community hall?

H

eswall Hall (HH) is used by many different societies including Bridge Clubs, U3A, NADFAST, Flower and Horticultural Societies, Fitness Clubs, Dramatic and Singing groups all of whom welcome new members. In addition HH offers a number of different rooms, stage, kitchen, bar and many other flexible facilities for weddings, parties, business meetings and antique/book fairs.

Heswall Hall Community Trust (HHCT) offers a range of community activities which currently include a weekly children’s play group (term time), monthly Tea Dances, monthly Lunch Clubs (September-April) and is planning to expand these activities to include a cinema and shows which include “The Mrs. Ackroyd Band” on 20th September and concerts by the West Kirby Operatic Society and the Wirral Symphony Orchestra in January and April 2015, respectively.

To help us run these we need more volunteers who can help with a range of tasks including: • Selling tickets • Publicity • Front of house at events – coffee, tea, programmes etc.

• Bar work • Event planning • Helping with the children’s play group, Lunch Club, Tea Dance and Cinema

In addition we would welcome help with gardening, electrical maintenance or general administration work.

We offer a friendly and welcoming environment at the heart of the community with the opportunity of meeting new people and making new friends. Come along and have a chat with us about the volunteering opportunities we offer.

He has recently been selected to be part of the British Para Climbing Team. He will be competing in international events in Austria and Italy and then in September he will be representing Britain in the World Championships in Spain.

Adam needs funding to help pay for his flights and accommodation when he is competing and also to help pay for the additional training needed to get him fit enough for these events.
