¡Girl scientist, astronaut or investigator!

Last February 11 was held the commemoration of the international day of women and science that frames the need to generate gender equity in science and research processes in women and men. Faced with this, the school as a space of active knowledge proposes strategies or scenarios in which girls and boys can enhance their investigative thinking but above all add importance to the role of girls in the scientific or technological spaces. Boys and girls from an early age are innate researchers, their greatest ability during the early years are conscious observers of the world (their perceptive capacity is acute, therefore every object, scenario or space around them allows them to understand and acquire knowledge).

During the commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a variety of videos and stories of women who frame or generate some impact in science or technology were shared. At this moment, a space was offered for boys and girls to discuss two aspects: the differences in cultural terms on the formation of boys and their masculine roles and the role of girls, understanding in general that although there are still marked differences, the new eras allow us to understand more and more the importance of opening these spaces and to demonstrate the ability to give validity and prominence to girls and women.

At the same time, together with the second grade boys and girls, they generated an open dialogue, in which they observed interviews of Colombian women who are currently contributing to science (mainly, the news of Diana Trujillo, an aerospace engineer who is developing projects for NASA, was shared). In addition, it was shared during the class that there are currently international academic activities or scenarios in which girls from an early age participate in events where science, observation and research is the main axis "She is astronaut" (an initiative developed by the She is foundation and NASA).

Finally, the classroom dialogues highlighted the importance of opening a motivational space in the classroom to continue promoting girls in their role as innate observers: to continue exploring the world, to generate questions, to discuss ideas or points of view and to seek that imagination, curiosity are the main elements to build a fruitful path of knowledge, which in turn leads them to ensure that their choice, what to do in the future as women has a solid foundation of knowledge, experiences and determination, far from the imaginaries of not being able to be part of the great scientific, technological or research projects making use of their feminine role.
