Daniel Hahn ist strukturiert. Die Buchstaben r, a, k und s sind seine Basis. Die Noten, mit denen er die Grundmelodie jeder Arbeit komponiert. Aber viel facettenreicher als das in der Musik mit vier Elementen möglich wäre. Er ist ein Meister in der Erschaffung immer neuer architektonischer Konstruktionen auf dieser Basis. Dreidimensionale Gebilde mit manchmal futuristischer, manchmal gediegener, teilweise fragiler, oft starker oder majestätischer Anmutung. Sie zeugen von einem beeindruckenden Formverständnis und einem außergewöhnlichen grafischen Auge. Daniel Hahn hat in den letzten Jahren viele Bilder mit Sprühlack auf Wände im Außenraum gemalt. Man kennt und liest den Namen Raks in der Graffiti-Welt. Die Buchstabenskulpturen und der Rahmen, in dem sie sich abspielen, werden gefüllt, meist monochrom und flächig. Geschaffen wird eine präzise und planvoll konstruierte Figur, die das Buchstabenquartett in einem beeindruckend unangreifbaren und ständig neuen Gewand erscheinen lässt. Beim Arbeiten auf Leinwand und Papier kommt seit einiger Zeit und in dieser Ausstellung zum ersten Mal in voller Kraft sichtbar ein sehr starkes und komplettierendes Element hinzu: Emotion. Daniel Hahn ist impulsiv! Seine Protagonisten behalten ihre klaren Linien, werden aber mit Energien und Stimmungen des Künstlers geladen und in ebenso emotionalen und ungewohnt spannenden Welten ausgesetzt, die viel von ihm selbst zeigen. Das passiert mit Acrylfarben und Ölkreide. Anders als im Außenraum. Nicht nur die andere Technik, sondern vor allem die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit in seinem Atelier machen es Daniel Hahn möglich, so zu arbeiten. Das jüngste Ergebnis ist eine packende, sehr lebendige und perfekte Balance zwischen einer präzisen „Raks“-Konstruktion und einem gewaltigen, ungefilterten, echten, aber durchaus fein nuancierten Ausdruck von Stimmungen und Gefühlen. In dieser Ausstellung zeigt der Künstler zum ersten Mal auch Arbeiten, die fotografische Elemente enthalten. Dabei setzt er ausgesuchte Bildausschnitte in schwarzweiß mit seinen skizzierten Konstruktionen in einen interessanten, wohl gewichteten Dialog. Daniel Hahn ist ein Zeitgenössischer Künstler, der die Schublade „Urban Art“ und deren Schranken beim Arbeiten auf Leinwand und Papier verlassen hat und nun eine sehr interessante, noch nicht näher benannte Position besetzt. Vielleicht bedürfen die Künstler dieser Gruppe und deren Werke auch keiner näheren, namentlichen Spezifikation: Maybe untitled.

Daniel Hahn is structured. The letters r, a, k and s deliver his foundation. They are the tunes of which he composes the basic melody of each work. But in many ways a lot more diverse than it would be possible with four simple musical elements. On this basis he can truly be described as a master creator of ever new architectural structures. Three-dimensional elements with often futuristic, always genuine, partly fragile yet strong and majestic appearance. They are evidence of an impressive knowledge of shapes and an exceptional graphic eye. In the recent years Daniel Hahn has spray painted various pictures in the outer space. In the graffiti world he goes by the name of Raks. The letter sculptures and the framework in which they present themselves are mostly filled, usually monochromatic and flat. This creates a precisely designed Character that can appear in an impressive yet bold and constantly new arrangement of the letter foursome. Recently while working on canvas and paper a new visible attribute has evolved in his art. A complementing and strong new side that can be witnessed first hand in the displays of this exhibition: emotion. Daniel Hahn is impulsive! His protagonists stick to their clean lines, and still they are filled with energy that resembles the artist himself, exposing us to his emotional and unusually exciting world. Unlike the facade work, all this happens with acrylics and oil pastels. It is not only the different technique that allows Daniel Hahn to work this way, it is also the peace and tranquility of his studio which inspires him day after day. The most recent result is an exciting, lively and perfect balance between a precise “Raks” construction and a powerful, truly unfiltered yet finely nuanced expression of moods and feelings. For the first time, In this exhibition the artist displays pieces of art, that were also inspired by photographic elements. He uses selected black and white image sections and combines them with sketched designs, creating a well-ballanced dialogue. Daniel Hahn is a contemporary artist who has stepped beyond the borders of common “Urban Art”. He has extended his work on canvas and paper and is now headed towards an exciting yet-to-be defined new line of art. Perhaps artist of his sort may not need a characteristic specification of their chosen style of art. This is why we constitute: Maybe untitled.
