Furniture & Interior Design Selected Works

Tanuvi Hegde is an architect and designer from India with an MFA in Furniture Design from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
Her work explores the relationship between people and the inanimate objects that shape human behavior and culture. Focusing on the sensory experience of touch, her thesis examines how furniture can foster meaningful interactions, encourage mindfulness, and include moments of whimsy. Tanuvi’s designs aim to create lasting impressions, forging deep, playful, and tactile connections between users and the objects they encounter.

The Vino
Wine is a symbol of conviviality and shared experiences. Sharing a bottle of wine is a time-honored tradition, a way of celebrating life’s moments and connecting with others. Whether it’s a casual get-together with friends or a formal dinner party, wine has the ability to breakdown barriers and create a sense of community.

Gossip Bench
Putting an end to the fight for a single armrest, the gossip bench was designed for two people to sit and lean in closer to gossip. Simple in form and design, the space inbetween the two armrests serve as a place to keep your things or drinks while chating.

Susegad
Susegad, which comes from the Portuguese word sossagado, meaning ‘quiet’ is a traditional Goan way of living life by embracing happiness and contentment. This concept has percolated into the art, architecture and culture of the place.
Drawing on the rich history associated with the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Goa, the design aims to curate a dinner cruise experience taking one on a journey through the history, art and culture of Goa. Inspired by the writings, paintings and illustrations from the era, the interiors reinterpret architectural features and the local crafts into design interventions that create an immersive experience.

Golfshire
Located in the outskirts of the city, with sweeping views of the Nandi Hills, Prestige Golfshire is a gated community with a series of villas built around golf courses. The client brief was to design, build and source furniture, lights and décor accessories for their three-storey vacation home. The home was designed as a contemporary, easy to maintain and simple space for a family of 4 to spend their vacations at. The interiors were designed with the majority of the wall surfaces in neutral shades. Pops of colour were introduced through the panelling and the furniture & accessories. With this project, we worked with dhokra artisans to design light fittings for the foyer wall panelling. Dhokra is one of the earliest known ‘lost wax casting’ techniques and is known to be 4,000 years old. It is primarily used to make metal figurines that have a primitive simplicity to them and showcase folk motifs.

Peninsula
The clients desired each room in their house to reflect a different season, creating a dynamic living experience that captures the changing moods and atmospheres of the natural world. On this project, we collaborated with thikri artisans to design the headboard in the bedroom.
Thikri craft, a traditional art form from the royal state of Rajasthan, India, involves the use of small, intricately cut pieces of mirror inlaid into meticulously designed patterns on various surfaces. This collaboration brought the essence of this exquisite craft into the bedroom, adding a touch of cultural richness and reflective beauty that perfectly complements the seasonal theme.

Exhibit (A): Furniture for The Anxious Being

Being

As mental health has increasingly become a priority in contemporary society, this collection of furniture addresses our everyday anxieties by incorporating sensory design and emotional engagement into its design. It offers a vision of what furniture can become when unrestricted by purely functional or aesthetic norms, but instead driven by the needs of emotional well-being. The title, “Exhibit (A),” signifies “Exhibiting Anxiety,” presenting it as both the subject and the essence of the collection.
Anxiety is the most commonly diagnosed psychological condition, affecting an estimated 4.7% of the global population—approximately 359 million people as of 2021. This complex and multifaceted phenomenon has been a part of human history, yet it remains a pressing mental health issue in the modern era.
Today, the prevalence of anxiety is exacerbated by various factors, including rapid technological advancements, globalization, economic instability, social pressures, and environmental concerns. The fast-paced nature of contemporary life, combined with constant connectivity and information overload, often leaves individuals feeling overwhelmed and anxious.
In a time when mental well-being is increasingly recognized as essential, this collection offers tools for self-care. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to address different stages of managing anxiety through engagement and interaction. By fostering a dynamic relationship between the user and their surroundings, these furniture pieces encourage mindfulness and create moments of intentional pause in daily life.
