Keep Your Cool this Summer! Best Indoor Places to Play

By Merris Pope, Founder of Hulafrog-South Tampa

few summers ago, I reached out to some friends and suggested we make a calendar with something to do every day to help entertain our kids. Mondays we can go to The Glazer Children’s Museum, Tuesdays to Story Time at Jan Kaminis Platt Library, Wednesdays head to the Florida Aquarium—I was desperate to have a resource to help fill those long summer days! When I heard about Hulafrog from a friend in New Jersey (where the company was founded), I knew that it would be a perfect fit for South Tampa—if nothing else but to help me plan activities for my kids. Hulafrog is a guide filled with local things for kids to do. It’s a national company with local sites in communities all over the country run by a local mom or dad. We have an events calendar listing anywhere from 10-30 events daily and we send out newsletters multiple times a week highlighting upcoming local events and activities. The best part is it’s FREE to subscribe. Hulafrog is also a mobile friendly site so you can check the calendar while you’re on the go.

One highlight of Hulafrog is our weekly Hot List that features businesses or events focusing on a specific, kid-friendly topic. With summer in full swing, Hulafrog’s 20 Indoor Places to Play Hot List is the perfect guide for local parents looking for places to go when it’s raining or too hot to play outside. There is so much to do with kids that’s indoors around South Tampa, from open gym times and arts and crafts to bowling and museums. For moms with babies and toddlers, Gymboree is a great place to join and frequent open gym times. Painting pottery at Color Me Mine in Hyde Park Village is fun for kids of all ages and Pinarama has bowling and an arcade. We are so lucky to live in an amazing city with a variety of museums to visit; your kids will love The Tampa Fire Fighters Museum downtown, The Tampa Bay History Center, or everyone’s favorite, The Glazer Children’s Museum. Hulafrog is here to help make parenting in South Tampa easier for you.
