Q&A: WITH MICHELLE FRACASSA, GROUP SALES SPECIALIST

Q: MICHELLE WHAT WAS IT THAT DREW YOU TO TAMARACK?

MICHELLE: The beautiful mountain setting and all the activities you can do year-round up here. As a Group Sales Specialist, it’s such a bonus to work in a place is considered one of the premier all-season resorts in the country. People are drawn to that, just like I was. And it certainly makes it easier to sell Tamarack as a Group destination because of all the stuff your group can do: golfing, skiing, hiking, biking, boating, dining, rafting, you name it.

Q: WHAT ARE PEOPLE LOOKING FOR IN A GROUP DESTINATION?

MICHELLE: People want to break out of the routine and predictability of the typical group meeting in a crowded urban setting. People today are looking for an escape from that. They crave space to breathe and room to think. They want a place that is inspiring and uplifting—a place in which they can meet and be productive, but also experience the thrills and activities of America’s only ski, golf, and lake resort.

Q: WHAT MAKES TAMARACK SO ATTRACTIVE TO GROUPS?

MICHELLE: Well, first of all, it is an easy drive from Boise so you can truly get away from it all without driving for hours or getting on a plane. Obviously, the mountain setting and all the amenities and activities are a draw. But the main thing we offer, I think, is flexibility. We can accommodate virtually any group occasion regardless of the time of year. We offers such a wide range of accommodation—from condos and residences in the Village to private villas and estate homes. The other thing is the options we provide for group parties and events. We have plenty of space, inside or outside, regardless of the time of year, to ensure your get-together or meeting is fun and memorable.

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE COMING YEAR WITH REGARD TO GROUP SALES?

MICHELLE: We want to continue to grow year over year like we have been. We want to spread the word and let people know how special we are, that we are not just another meeting destination. We want everyone to know that we are a premier, year-round resort that can take your meeting to the next level. We have so many options for meeting space—including the brand new Mid Mountain Lodge, the award-winning Arling Center—and so many recreational offerings: golf, boating, kayaking, skiing, hiking, biking right outside the door. HOMEOWNER PROFILE THE DELAET FAMILY

Graham Delaet is not your typical Tamarack homeowner. He’s a former PGA Touring Pro who once ranked #26 in the world. Today he is a husband, father to two young kids, and a big time Tamarack fan. When he’s not working and traveling with the Golf Channel, chances are he’s hanging out with Ruby, and their two 8-year old twins at Tamarack. “We love it up here, and that’s because of all the other stuff you can do up here year round. And when you add this new course to the skiing and the lake amenities, this place is pretty special.” Just recently, he played at a Tamarack Member/ Guest Tournament and here’s what he had to say about the newly re-imagined Robert Trent Jones II masterpiece.

Q: GRAHAM I KNOW YOU JUST RECENTLY PLAYED OSPREY MEADOWS, WHAT WAS YOUR IMPRESSION?

GRAHAM: It’s great, I really enjoyed playing it. The scenery is beautiful, of course, just the perfect mountain setting. And the course blends naturally and fits and contours to the land naturally. This course is unique because of the terrain it was built on. The meadows, mountains, and lake all present their own beauty and characteristics. It’s rare to get 2, let alone all 3 of these at any one golf course. It’s very impressive.

Q: SO NOW THAT YOU’VE PLAYED OSPREY MEADOWS, GIVE US SOME JUICY TIDBITS, WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?

GRAHAM: One of the really fun things about Osprey is the six par 5’s it offers. It gives a player so many scoring opportunities and just really makes the round special. Most courses only have four par 5s. The native areas here at Tamarack are penal, but most of them are placed far enough off the course that you feel if you’re in it, you deserve to be penalized. The green complexes are also well thought out and unique. The interesting mix of large flat greens to small, insulated greens will keep you guessing. It was a lot of fun, which is the goal right?

Q: AS A RESORT COURSE, ALL LEVEL OF GOLFERS PLAY OSPREY MEADOWS. IS THIS A COURSE THAT BOTH SEASONED GOLFERS AND BEGINNERS CAN ENJOY?

GRAHAM:Yes, it is a great everyday course that players of all abilities can enjoy. The double black diamond tees stretch the course out enough to test even the professional player. The front tees give beginners and kids the chance to also have a great experience. They aren’t many forced carries that would make it unplayable for a beginner, yet there are plenty of challenges for a more refined player. I also really think Osprey Meadows is only going to get better and better as it matures and continues to get the love and attention from the maintenance team here.

Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY HIGHLIGHTS FROM YOUR LAST ROUND HERE

GRAHAM: Let’s see…I love standing on the 13th tee and looking down valley towards the lake. I really think it’s the prettiest shot on the golf course. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the tee shots heading back up the mountain are also pretty majestic as a well struck tee shots heading back up mountain on 16, 18 for example, seem to just hang in the thin mountain air forever and almost glow up against the pines on the mountain.

Q: SO, WHAT ELSE IS THE GRAHAM DELAET FAMILY INTO AT TAMARACK? I UNDERSTAND YOU ALL ARE VERY OUTDOORSY.

GRAHAM: Oh yeah, we love the x-country mountain bike trails, hiking, boating, and the beach in the summer months. The TamFam community as they call it up here is also a big part of what we love.

Haden has an accomplished 18-year career in real estate and has represented both buyers and sellers in Valley County since 2005. Haden is also among the few real estate professionals in Idaho who have earned the Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) designation as well as the ePro designation. Prior to joining Tamarack Realty, Haden was the Idaho Designated Broker for Vacasa Real Estate, a position he’s held since 2019. Haden is a Boise State University graduate with a degree in History and Secondary Education.

Haden enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves mountain biking, hiking, fishing, camping, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, white water rafting, swimming, boating, surfing, wakeboarding, flying, and spending time with family and friends. 1. CAN YOU TELL US A HIDDEN GEM IN VALLEY COUNTY THAT ONLY LOCALS KNOW ABOUT?

The Little Ski Hill just outside of McCall on HWY 55. With amazing afterschool ski programs coupled with the only night skiing within 100+ miles makes this little hidden gem a lot of fun.

2. IN THREE SENTENCES OR LESS TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

My wife Kaila and I have two amazing kids who grew up here in McCall. We enjoy all outdoor recreation activities all year long. I truly enjoy snowboarding, skiing, hockey, surfing, mountain biking and hiking all of the public land surrounding us the most. I grew up in Sun Valley Idaho where my family was involved in real estate, development, construction, title and escrow. I was raised in a resort community in the real estate side of life and loved every minute of it.

3. WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOUR FAVORITE VIEW POINT IN TAMARACK?

My favorite view of Tamarack has to be from the summit just as I am about to head down the mountain with Cascade Lake and the Needles Range as a backdrop.

4. DONNELLY IS KNOWN AS THE CROSSROADS TO RECREATION, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO RECREATE?

In the winter hands down skiing and snowboarding at Tamarack Resort. Great terrain park, tree riding, and smooth flowing groomers, ideal for any rider from beginner to expert. And then jumping on a snowmobile and hitting the hundreds of miles of trails with unparalleled panoramic views of the entire area.

5. IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Fly, my grandfather, father and brother all had pilots licenses and I would love to learn to fly one day.

6. WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT LIVING IN TAMARACK RESORT?

The direct access to all of the recreation that we love the most. Followed closely by the great aprés mountain food, drinks and entertainment. There is not a single day that we cannot find something fun and exciting to do.

7. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO SELL OR BUY RIGHT NOW?

My best advice (coming from someone who’s daughter moved away her senior year and son moved away his freshman year to pursue their hockey dreams) is that NOW is the time to buy to start making memories that will last lifetimes and generations. I did not expect my kids to move away so soon and thankful and glad for every memory we made in Valley County. A person can think they have “more time” however we truly never know and the memories we made with them throughout the years while they lived here stick with them the most as they are away at school. Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
