Greetings from Director General Jen-Ni Yang, Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs

The Taiwan machine tools industry has been playing a key role in the global market. As a small island economy, Taiwan makes industrial machines that are geared mostly for export. 80% of the total machine tools turned out, which valued around US$4 billion annually in the past 3 years, are exported to over 138 countries across the world, making Taiwan the 5 th largest machine tool export countries behind Germany, Japan, Italy and China.

T h e d e v e l o p m e n t o f Ta i w a n ’s machine tool industry reflects the country’s overall industrial capability as well as its ability to meet various technical challenges, such as machinery design, processing and manufacturing, automatic control, information software, electromechanical interfaces and system integration. The industry has not only played an important supporting role in the manufacturing sector, but has also made a substantial contribution to national economic growth since 1940.

Comprising mostly small and medium-sized firms, the industry relies on a collaborative approach in a bid for survival and forged a path to becoming the 7th largest machine tool manufacturing country in the world on the back of high quality and competitive pricing. By emphasizing teamwork, industry alliance and solid infrastructure development, manufacturers strive to transform Taiwan into a global center for high-grade machine tool production and manufacturing.

The industry today is facing intensified global competition and economy challenges more than ever. In order to enhance the global marketing capability of the Taiwan machine tools and accessories industry, the Bureau o f F o r e i g n Tr a d e ( B O F T ) u n d e r the Ministry of Economic Affairs launched the Integrated Marketing Communications Project for the Taiwan Machine Tools Industry in 2014. The main purpose of the program is to

bolster the image of the industry as a major global supplier of machine tools, equipment and key components.

Also, in a new wave of Industry 4.0, machine tools will play an indispensable role. The government is planning to develop into a global manufacturing hub for intelligent machinery and high-end equipment. The Intelligent Machinery Program aims to strengthen the industry value chain in intelligent manufacturing, products and services through customized production and seize opportunities in the US $5.2 trillion aerospace market.

With integrated hardware and software, and R&D capability, we are confident that Taiwan-made machine tools are ready for the new wave of industrial revolution. Meanwhile, the Taiwan machine tools industry will continue to work with clients to create a win-win situation.

The Taiwan Machine Tool Industry in the Age of Intelligent Integration Machine tools are known in the industry circle as the “mother of all machines”. They are capital goods with high unit prices, and as such, it is particularly important to choose machine tools from reputable suppliers.

The Taiwan machine tool industry enjoys a good global reputation thanks to its ability to deliver outstanding products, prices, and quality. It accounts for nearly five billion US dollars annually, and is projected to achieve compound growth of 9% by 2020. It is largely driven by strong demands from aerospace, submarine, precision medical equipment, electronics, mobile, and computing sectors. Taiwan-based machine tool makers are prepared for the smart manufacturing era In the future, the so-called smart machine tools will be integrated into something that closely resembles a robot, having robotic arms and sensors that

provide vision and even tactile response to artificial intelligence of the central “brain”, which processes information using cloud computing and big data.

However, this level of capability is still under development and will require some 10-20 years more. With humans and civilization increasingly reliant on machines and a level of precision that only machines are capable of, intelligent machines could provide manufacturers such as automobile and aerospace producers with boundless opportunities for smart production, enabling manufacturers to increase customization, better understand production process requirements and integrate the appropriate software to truly meet market demand. World Design Capital Taipei 2016 - Improving Quality of Life

Taiwan is acknowledged on the world stage for its achievements in design.

Germany’s Red Dot, design award has selected two museums in Taiwan out of four similar institutions in the world to make its award-winning collection for public viewing. Taiwanese designers have accumulated countless awards bestowed by major international design awarding bodies, such as iF, Red Dot, G-Mark, IDEA and D&AD. Taiwan Excellence, which hosts the annual Taiwan Excellence Awards, is a representation of Taiwan’s highquality co-brands based on five factors: research, development, design, quality, and marketing. Each entry is judged based on its "innovation value". Over 7,870 locally designed products have been selected as entries since 1993.

The winning products are awarded the coveted Taiwan Excellence seal of approval, which signfy innovative technology and user-friendly design.

Taipei was recently chosen to host the World Design Capital (WDC) 2016 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). The WDC this year will feature such monthly events as Creative EXPO, which is scheduled to be held at the Taipei’s Huashan 1914 Creative Park, the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, and the Taipei EXPO Dome. Three most celebrated festivals in Taiwan - Celebrating Taiwanese Customs with Feasts and Traditions

Local festivals are the window to traditional folk customs. Taiwan offers several festivals all year round. The three most celebrated festivals in TaiwanSpring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival-attract thousands of foreign and local visitors each year.

Taiwanese also celebrate other traditional events such as Lantern Festival (Yuanxiao), which is celebrated across the island by releasing lanterns into the night sky.

The Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival along with several local rituals such as Yanshui Beehive Firecrackers Festival and Taitung Bombarding Master Han Dan has also attracted many foreign tourists to Taiwan. The Taiwan Lantern Festival was featured as one of the best

festivals in the world on the Discovery Channel program "Fantastic Festivals of the World".

The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. During which the locals celebrate by holding dragon boat races and eating glutinous rice dumplings (zhongzi). Dragon boat races held throughout Taiwan lure both local and foreign teams and hordes of overseas visitors to the island every year.

Mid-autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival, is the most romantic festival celebrated by the Chinese community around the world. The locals celebrate this special occasion with mooncakes, which symbolize reunion, and pomelos (yòuzi), which symbolize abundance and good fortune.

Taiwan’s food culture is popular among foodies from around the world, and night markets are a quintessential part of the Taipei food experience.

The top 10 “must try” local foods are pearl milk tea with chewy tapioca balls, Danzi noodles, stinky tofu, crispy Taiwanese fried chicken, oyster vermicelli, Taiwanese shaved ice, pineapple cakes, pan-fried buns, “iron” eggs, and slow-cooked ribs stewed in medicinal herbs.

Ningxia Night Market, Shi-Da Night Market and Shilin Night Market are some of the most popular night markets in Taiwan. Shilin Night Market in particular is famous for its “big-breadwraps-small-bread and diced beef” special. Exotic foods like snake meat dishes are available at night markets near Longshan Temple.

Raohe Street Night Market is adjacent to the century-old Matsu Temple in Taipei and Fengjia Night Market is where many local delicacies came from.

The Tainan Flower Night Market is considered the largest of all night markets in Taiwan that houses nearly 400 food stands. Unlike Shilin Night Market, which is open for business seven days a week, Flower Night Market opens only three days a week, on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Down in Kaohsiung people frequent both Rueifong Night Market and Lio Ho Night Market.

From the Global Competitiveness Report in 2016-2017 released by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Taiwan retained its position as 15th most competitive economy among 144 countries been surveyed, and have ranked 4th among Asian economies.

In the 2017 World Competitiveness Yearbook published by IMD, Taiwan ranked 14th in economic competitiveness among 61 countries surveyed.

As machines assembled from this equipment are used to process work pieces, the precision of the resulting machines declines with each subsequent generation. While many machine tool manufacturers have developed ways to offset such shortcomings by using scraping technology, the level of precision is nevertheless determined by

components can be broadly divided into two segments: components for use with machine tools, such as chucks, dividing plates, high-speed cutting tools, expandable protective covers and cooling systems; and those for general use, such as lead screws, sliding rails, gears, servo motors and controllers.

In the 1990s, Hiwin Technologies Corp. became the first global ball screw manufacturer to have its factories certified for ISO international quality insurance; this enabled the quality of Taiwan’s ball screws to win recognition from manufacturers in Taiwan and abroad, and marked the beginning of the official move into overseas markets.

By 2004, a number of major Japanese machine tool manufacturers had started to look towards cutting costs as a means of improving international competitiveness. The Japanese market was previously thought impenetrable by Taiwanese based suppliers, but because the domestic industry matured, Japanese firms began to increasingly source from Taiwan, benefitting companies such as Hiwin, Auto Strong, Habor and Keyarrow.

In 2006, to adapt to the increasingly fierce international competition, leading

manufacturers Victor Taichung and YCM, assisted by 20 other suppliers including Habor, Keyarrow and Delta, set up the “M-Team”, which was modeled on the “A-Team” concept adopted in the bicycle industry. Supported by the Industrial Development Bureau’s (IDB) “Collaborative Management Plan” and guided by the Corporate Synergy Development Center (CSD), the M-Team worked to implement the “Dual-core Collaboration Plan”. The Dual-core Collaboration Plan helped transform contacts between component makers and machine tool suppliers from a simple buyer and seller relationship into a more effective partnership that would allow members to be more competitive in the marketplace. Competitiveness was gained through the establishment of interdependent relationships between component makers and buyers, their mutual assistance and the shared objective of joint growth.

The introduction of the Toyota-style production system helped to create a new business model that fundamentally transformed product quality, delivery

time and costs, as well as effectively reduce lead times for machine tool assembly and installation. This model helps partners to reduce inventory, minimize production waste and save substantial amounts of factory space, as well as massively increase the acceptance of short-cycle orders from machine tool suppliers, allowing manufacturers greater flexibility to respond to time sensitive projects. This win-win situation enables manufacturers to succeed in terms of revenue and profitability, and helps component suppliers of the M-Team to supply high-quality products to companies in Taiwan and abroad.

When the Taiwanese based Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), Evergreen Group’s A-Team 4.0 and the Industrial Technology Research Institute’s (ITRI) I-Team recently formed the “A-I-M Aerospace Machine Tool Industry Technological Alliance”, they made sure that the M-Team was involved, ensuring greater cooperation between Taiwan’s aerospace industry and machine tool industries. By increasing the number

of manufacturers and the value of the industry’s output, and creating a more effective business environment, the new alliance has provided a major boost to the competitiveness of Taiwan’s machine tool industry. It has also given Japan’s major machine tool manufacturers a greater awareness of the core competitiveness of Taiwan’s machine tool suppliers, providing them with the impetus to strengthen collaboration with Taiwan’s complete-machine suppliers, or to expand the purchasing of parts and components from Taiwanese based suppliers.

The future development of key highend components depends not only on the level of companies’ independently developed technologies, but also on support and cooperation from government bodies and academic institutions that are able to bring in more specialized technologies and lead the industry’s transition towards highvalue products. Starting with sectors that use high-end products, the industry is seizing every R&D opportunity for key technologies throughout the entire value chain to develop more profitable madein-Taiwan products.

Meticulous Precision and Independent R&D As the machine tool industry moves towards higher speed and greater precision, spindles are more than just key components; they are effectively the heart of a machine tool. As the shift towards spindles with higher speeds, multiple functions, smart/intelligent capabilities and higher performance increase, they are now critical to the performance of machine tools. Taiwan’s spindle manufacturers have grown from the handful of OEMs present in the early days, to dozens of companies, perhaps best represented over the last decade by machine tool precision spindle R&D and manufacturing specialists, such as Royal Precision Tools Corporation and POSA. Such companies supply high-tech, builtin spindles that have received impressive reactions at major international trade shows, and have already won orders

from overseas manufacturers. To improve quality, increase production capacity, win orders more effectively, and increase their competitiveness internationally, spindle manufacturers are investing heavily in precision equipment for customized components. Their goal is to further improve quality and reduce costs. This investment is likely to be a game changer for the Taiwanese spindle industry.

Any shortcomings in the precision of the spindle mean that products manufactured using the machine tool will not meet demanding requirements for greater precision. To improve quality, POSA has asked its “satellite” contractors to collaborate in the development of dedicated molds, processing jigs and fixtures, so that contractors that meet the required standards can then grow

and profit along with POSA. This insistence on quality has allowed POSA to implement precision standards twice as strict as those of its Taiwanese based competitors, while it’s prices are also at least 10% higher. POSA has put more than NT $100 million into new equipment in the last two years, including the recent purchase of the world’s highest precision grinding machine. This single unit was made in Switzerland and costs around NT $10 million.

Over the last few years, in addition to catering to the demand for highprecision, high-speed processing for car manufacturing, aerospace and the energy industries, the machine tool industry has also moved into sectors that require fine aesthetic processing, such as computers, communication and consumer electronics. Problems such

as heat deformation, heat displacement and controller overheating, which are all common concerns in consumer electronics manufacturing, can cause lower precision in processing, computer crashes, additional wear and tear on parts, and an increase in costs. Cooling systems have an important role to play, and the requirements for such systems have expanded from straightforward cooling effects to high-precision constant temperature control that allows for instant correction of processing liquid temperatures so that the elongation of the spindle can be kept within the smallest possible parameters. Temperature control systems have therefore gone from being optional components to being indispensible standard equipment.

Taiwan’s cooling unit manufacturers strengths in specialized large-scale manufacturing and R&D have not only prevented Japanese and European firms from breaking into the Taiwanese market, but have also enabled made-in-Taiwan cooling units to succeed internationally.

Habor, which has the most advanced R&D capabilities and the largest production capacity for cooling units, has continually strived to innovate and improve its technologies. When resources in Taiwan proved limited, the company has even forged technology partnerships with international manufacturers to develop its own temperature control systems. The company’s high-precision (±0.1K) cooling and temperature control

products, and in-demand customized technical services, have enabled Habor to successfully move into markets in advanced nations, including Japan, Germany and Switzerland. They have proven to be some of Taiwan’s component industry’s biggest draws for international machine tool makers.

Machine tool equipment manufacturers hoped win orders on the strength of features and pricing, but their products often suffered from wastage or quality issues as a result of the lack of knowledge with regard to choosing the correct cooling units. They assumed that the most important consideration was adequate cooling capacity. In reality, the environment and conditions of usage have a major impact on the performance of cooling units, so it is only possible to provide customers with cost-effective, high-performance solutions with a proper understanding of customer applications and requirements. For this reason, Habor has strived to offer specialized design services aimed at delivering “one model for one market”, as well as focusing on strategic goals, such as product differentiation and providing additional value through services and features.

In the notoriously demanding Japanese machine tool market, seven of the top ten manufacturers use Habor products. The Japanese giants Mazak, Makino and Mori Seiki have all stated that Habor provides the best temperature control of any manufacturer they have

seen, while the high-end equipment used by specialist equipment manufacturers in the supply chains of semiconductor foundry giant TSMC and Apple, as well as the world’s premier PCB drilling machine maker, Posalux, all rely on Habor to provide solutions to key production processes.

The key technologies for Habor’s ±0.1K temperature control products, which use the proportional-integralderivative (PID) method, were jointly developed with a subsidiary of Japan’s Fuji Group. Habor retains patent rights from the fruits of this collaboration.

Habor has also developed the industry’s first fully integrated DC multi-frequency cooling unit. Through the company’s efforts, combined with the corporate synergy of the Taiwanese machine tool industry and the efforts of the M-Team, have all enabled it to successfully apply for the Industrial Development Bureau’s (IDB) “Collaborative Business Management Plan for Cross-system Promotion” through the Corporate Synergy Development Center (CSD).

The eventual result left Habor ’s competitors standing in the dust while it achieved a production capacity in excess of 3,500 units per month, making it the world’s largest manufacturer of high-end temperature control equipment. Habor’s management says that this success has come “because we know what machine tool manufacturers need and we understand future trends in the market.”

Innovative Solutions that Satisfy the Strictest Customer Requirements The Industry 4.0 conference held by the government (Executive Yuan) stressed the need to create integrated solutions, establish stronger capabilities for offering complete system solutions, expand projects that are factory-wide solutions, offer complete engineering systems as a total solution, and improve the performance of exports and growth.

Improvements in these areas would be achieved by switching to smart/ intelligent automation that advances development of hardware-software integration, by improving solution capabilities for complete systems, and by guiding the transition from only offering single-units to providing solutions that cover the whole-production-line. This would help move the industry in Taiwan to providing whole-line planning, increase the variety of services related to equipment and grow the value of the products and services the industry offers.

Intelligent automated production lines have become increasingly

common around the world, clamping tool designs and configurations are critical technologies. Major component manufacturers have previously noted the importance of ensuring that production processes are rational before adopting intelligent automation. With the recent shift in favor of high-value work pieces and the adoption of multi-functional, multi-spindle machine tools, issues involving interference or even collisions between people, machines, clamping tools and work pieces are common.

No manufacturer should consider the use of robots on its production lines without adequate ability to grasp or clamp. Taiwanese based manufacturers already have the capability to deliver whole-production line solutions using multiple vertical lathes, machining centers and industrial robots. The same technology that can be used to produce forged aluminum wheel rims.

In the future, manufacturers will deploy machine arms and design clamping tools

for a range of products for different industries in an effort to move into the automated production line market for other sectors. In addition to metal cutting and processing, some manufacturers are developing metal/plastic molding machines, including models with rapid mold switching/locking. This also requires the use of large amounts of material loading/unloading and testing equipment, something that Taiwanese based component manufacturers also have extensive experience with.

Based on the Industry 4.0 initiative’s conclusions on cyber-physical system (CPS) integration, Taiwan’s component manufacturers are committed to the principal of winning the first order with the product, and subsequent orders with service. As Taiwan continues to move forward into the Industry 4.0 era, the shift towards 24-hour accessibility through cloud services will be an essential part of component manufacturers’ future development plans.

TAIWAN – 6 KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTS

The government’s 2013 Three Industries, Four Reforms Program launched a policy to make the manufacturing industry more serviceoriented by transforming manufacturers’ traditional product-focused thinking to include a greater focus on service and value. Manufacturers should not limit themselves to being mere product suppliers, but should extend their capabilities to provision a range of services that meet customers’ needs that highlight product differentiation and thereby create greater value for the customer. Customization, derivative service industries, and integrating different industries are included in the implementation of the program.

Manufacturers of the CNC control systems, IPCs and sensors required for machine tools are urgently needed for integration with network suppliers. There is a need for companies from different sectors to work together and provide customers with cloud-based platforms for

diagnostic, maintenance and operational services. Such collaboration can also be achieved through the government’s Operational Services and Customer Financing Platforms. This will allow companies to more easily win turnkey orders from overseas customers.

For example, Hiwin Technologies believes in the following stated principal, “the goal is not manufacturing, but to satisfy the customer’s requirements; manufacturing is one type of service, and services are sources of innovation, while excellence is only possible through innovation.” There are essentially two types of innovative cultures: one where innovation is led by the company itself, as in the case of Apple; and the other where innovation is encouraged by the system, as in the case of 3M. Hiwin combines both of these cultures.

As the firm’s management explains, if you “think from the perspective of the customer, or even the customer’s customer, then innovative ideas will

come!”

Hiwin was one of the first to complete a program of transitioning and making improvements to its product and services. Building Global Networks to Increase Real-world Productivity Component manufacturers have an even greater need to expand global sales than machine tool manufacturers, but have also struggled in recent years as Taiwan has promoted a transition in traditional industries in an increasingly globalized world. While the electronics industry has become increasingly concerned about China’s increasing efforts to dominate the industry via socalled “red supply chains”, the same phenomenon had already begun to take effect in the machine tool industry at a much earlier stage The so-called 4th Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0, ushered in by Germany is in fact underpinned by basic manufacturing rationality and intelligent manufacturing capabilities. The “revolutionary” element comes from increased flexibility and integration of energy sources, human resources and other sources of productivity. Before we discuss which advanced manufacturing technologies are being adopted by Taiwanese industry, it is important to first understand the severe predicament in which Taiwan’s manufactures have been mired in for many years.

F o r Ta i w a n ’s c o m p o n e n t manufacturers, if the motor is the heart of a machine, the CNC controller is its nerve center – it is the brain of a machine tool. It is a machine’s most important control and command system, as well as the key product driving the switch to intelligent automation. However, this product sector is dominated by foreign giants such as Japan’s Fanuc and Mitsubishi, and Germany’s Siemens.

The quality and performance of domestically-produced PC-based controllers independently developed by the industrial, academic and research institutions is now on a par with that of imported products. Taiwanese manufacturers include Syntec, Advantech-LNC, Delta Electronics and Gentec. The government has also taken the lead in promoting domestically produced machine tool controllers, with the aim of replacing imports and increasing the value of the industry’s products, and thereby boosting the export competitiveness of Taiwan’s machine tool products.

TAIWAN – 6 KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTS

One of the key objectives of Taiwan’s the Intelligent Machinery Program Plan is to prioritize the development of domestic manufacturing capabilities for key materials, parts/components and equipment, to help expedite the development of domestically produced controllers and sensors. Additionally, there is also a need to build a complete industrial supply chain, which would prevent the industry from falling under the control of large foreign companies or being unable to supply products to meet its own needs.

The Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) has invested in technology projects to build key modules, including smart manufacturing software, multi-spindle precision controllers and fully-digital integrated servo motor systems. The DoIT also led collaboration between industrial, academic and research institutions to build three major types of units (machining centers, turning centers and drilling/cutting centers), and has successfully recruited nine major machine tool manufacturers to produce 300 demonstration units.

These actions have enabled Taiwan’s industry to independently determine the models, features, delivery times and key controller parts for machine tools.

These actions have effectively increased the level of customization and value.

They have also helped the precision machine tool industry to transition from working to build an advantage in terms of hardware or software, to a focus on creating soft power through innovation and providing greater value to the customer.

Agile Manufacturers Achieve the Best Results As industry in Taiwan is heavily dependent on growth in the electronics industry, it is important to develop alternative mainstream emerging industries that can take over this role.

The boundaries between manufacturing, services and other industries are also becoming increasingly blurred, so there is an urgent need to develop new cross-sector markets to foster emerging industries and take advantage of new opportunities presented by future global trends.

If you want to set the rules for an emerging market for a particular product and achieve a market share that constitutes a leading position, allowing you to control the rules of the game for that market, it is vital to have access to not only the financial and operational means, but also advanced technology. For the machine tool industry, the individual markets are not necessarily very large, so if technical specifications are key factors in competition, the ability to be the party

that sets the specifications is critical and can ultimately provide opportunities to dominate the sector, or even to become a dominant player in other sectors and industries. This is one reason why component manufacturers such as Hiwin and Delta have moved into emerging sectors such as service robots, green energy and electric vehicles in recent years. Taiwan’s machine tool industry clusters urgently need improvement, and in addition to the traditional corporate synergy and upstream/downstream supply chain relationships, there is also a need to find innovative business models and mold services into part of the core ecosystem.

Taiwanese based manufacturers have successfully marketed their machine tools and parts/components to markets worldwide and many manufacturers are acutely aware of the importance of aftersales service and follow-up.

However, due to the small scale of many such manufacturers, such as the

PC-based controller turnkey solution manufacturers that developed under the guidance of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the most common complaint is that the number of global network points for service and maintenance is too small. One of the main difficulties in creating giant cloudbased maintenance and operational centers, like those of Japan’s Mazak, is the lack of cross-sector talent that brings together the knowledge of maintenance, sales and marketing. This is another reason why the government needs to bring in resources from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Labor (MoL) for industry development.

As many of the companies that m a k e u p Ta i w a n ’s m a c h i n e t o o l industry are SMEs (small and mediumsized enterprises), the attitude of the management is also very important.

For example, Yong-Tai Chuo (Zhuo

Yongcai), chairman of the board at Hiwin, insists on being at the frontline by personally attending all major trade shows and forums. His approach has enabled him to observe trends and take rapid action, thereby avoiding situations where corporate structures or limited experience can make it difficult for middle managers to spot emerging trends, or to reach a consensus on action if they do identify a new trend. For the same reason, all plans of significant importance to the company’s future are personally overseen by Mr. Chuo.

When Hiwin decided to develop linear guide rails, the three existing competitors in this small market were already in a race to create dominant patents. Worried that the project manager wasn’t acting fast enough, Mr. Chuo personally took over the supervision of the project, rapidly moving the products in to mass production, as well as winning an individual gold medal in the National Invention and Creation

Awards (NICA). Such arrangements have allowed Hiwin to become the only company that possesses both ball screw and linear guide rail technologies, which was critical to the company overtaking its Japanese competitors.

To firmly implant innovation into the organization’s DNA, Yong-Tai Chuo personally reviewed all proposals for improvements related to operations until the company grew large enough where he was forced to delegate to managers.

The main function of SAG angle head holder is to do lateral machining, users do not need to turn over the workpiece so it’s time saving and increases efficiency. The material of lower body is 7075 aluminum alloy and slim design makes the largest diameter only 72mm, reducing interference and is able to reach deep hole processing. The weight of SAG is 5.5 kg so it is suitable for automatic tool change.

. The coupling structure of PSC tooling system is designed as triangle curve form of polygon, using 1/20 taper for two-faced positioning and clamping. . The repeated positional precision of coupling structure in X, Y and Z directions is ±2μm, the total runout is 3 μm.
