A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER AND USERS

I am Karin Stierlin – sexual health educator, teacher, learning therapist, and founder of the Taboobreaker Association. Years ago, I developed Love Land as an interactive board game to support CSE education in Swiss schools – born out of a desire for more interaction, playfulness, and age-appropriate approaches to sensitive topics like the body, emotions, relationships, and contraception.

Since then, Love Land has evolved into a multi-channel learning program consisting of the board game, a gamified app, and a tutorial website The content is rooted in UNESCO’s International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education and has been piloted in Indonesia and South Africa – met with great openness and positive feedback. Today, Love Land is widely used in South Africa and has been evaluated by the University of Cape Town.

Taboobreaker’s vision is to empower young people worldwide with playful, respectful, and inclusive access to CSE health education – across cultures, infrastructures, and learning styles.

WHAT IS LOVE LAND?

Love Land is a multi-channel, gamified CSE program that fosters knowledge, decision-making, and communication skills around sexual health, gender equality, and mental wellbeing, based on the UNESCO International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education.

Developed by the non-profit organisation Taboobreaker, it integrates a mobile app, an educational board game, and a tutorial website to engage pre-teens and teenagers (ages 10 to 18) in both school and community settings.

The program is also designed to enable and empower adults including teachers, caregivers, and youth workers to approach sexuality education in a relaxed, informed, and inclusive manner.

Adaptable to different cultural needs and regulatory contexts, Love Land creates a safe and supportive space for young people to explore sensitive topics like the body, emotions, relationships, and contraception in an ageappropriate and relatable way. It encourages teamwork and open dialogue, making it suitable for both independent use by young people through the free down loadable app, and for group-based learning in classrooms, youth centres, and intergenerational educational settings. With its multilingual access - available in English, German, and French, and further language versions in development, Love Land is highly scalable.

Key Components

Mobile App – A gamified learning journey interactive islands, quizzes, and relatable scenarios (currently available for free on Android & iOS in English, French and Afrikaans).
