DELIVERY PROGRAM

$100 off your purchase, if you bring your trailer sale day and take your bull(s) home with you. If you choose not to, delivery will start immediately after sale day. Assistance will be given in getting your purchases home, at the cost of the delivery. Talk with the seller to make your arrangements. Reminder any bulls going back to the ranch must be insured, as each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

THE PERCENTAGE CALVING CHART

1. An average cow of any breed should be able to calve 7% of her body weight.

2. Most Charolais and Simmental cows will weigh between 1400-1800 lb., expected calf weight to range from 98 to 126 lb.

3. Most Red Angus and Black Angus cows will weigh between 1200-1600 lb., expected calf weight range 84 to 112 lb.

4 Calving ease is more important than birth weight because a longer sided calf may calve easy, but the birth weight is higher.

(see 7% Calving Chart below)

BIRTH WEIGHT & CALVING EASE

University studies in Wyoming and data from Montana and Colorado lend credence to the following conclusion:

1. The birth weight itself influences calving ease by 65%

2. The female has 60-70% influence on birth weight of her calf.

3. The bull has 30-40% influence on birth weight of his progeny.

4. Pelvic measurement and angle as well as the shape of the calf have 35-40% influence on calving ease.

5. Length of gestation greatly affects birth weight. A fetus can gain over one pound per day in the last days of gestation.

6. Weather and temperature the last 30 days affect the length of gestation.

7. Size and maturity of cow influence calving ease.

Well, here we go again. Welcome to the Annual Spirit of The North Bull Sale. Honestly, what could be better than heading to Spiritwood on April 3? It will be a nice, bright sunny day, lots of time to visit with the neighbors, maybe buy a bull or two and most of all enjoy a bull sale drink or two.

On a more serious note, we want to extend a thank you to all the buyers from last year that supported our sale and throughout our sales in the past.

Our bull pen this year is again one that we are extremely proud of. Whether it be red, black or baldie, power bull or calving ease, we think we have the bull for you.

If you are unable to make it sale day, we ask that you be in contact with someone from the T Bar C staff, they will be glad to help you with your choices. If possible we are usually around home for anyone that wants to stop in at the farm ahead of sale day. The coffee is only on til noon after that the drinks get a little stronger. Welcome to the Spirit of the North Annual Bull Sale, 2023 Cas Bar Farms is a family operated business that has been 40+ years in the making. The years have gone by quickly; from working cattle with my father, since I was 5 years old, to buying my first registered Charolais cow, in June of 1983, from Green Acres Charolais, in Duck Lake Sk. The one thing that has never changed is my personal determination and passion to raise the best quality livestock. My wife makes fun of me as I study genetics and memorize EPD’s from sale and semen catalogues. “Your Christmas Wish Books are here” she says. I’m continually researching and seeking out genetics within Canada and other countries, for the use in AI and embryo transfer. This year’s lineup of bulls is, once again, a pen of bulls we are proud to present. Bulls with calving ease, that are performance driven. Bulls that check all the boxes and will add value to your operation. All bulls are developed on an oats and forage diet, supplemented with peas and protein supplement.

All bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale and will come with a veterinary certificate of authenticity. They will also be treated with Fusogard, for the prevention of foot rot.

The cowherd utilizes a mineral program that is balanced to the cow’s requirements and feed sources. This supports proper bull calf health and development from a young age. The bull development program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health. All forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality feed sources are used. Cas Bar utilizes a protein supplement to ensure the bulls daily diet is promoting lean muscle growth, allowing the bulls to express their genetic potential. Rumen health is of upmost importance, which is why suitable protein sources and proper starch levels are fed to the bulls.

He has been long known for adding hair, muscle shape and calving ease to his off spring, and that is exactly what you will get out of this bull. Cruz is a tough calf to pick apart, with lots of potential. I really love the style and look of this bull. He is a moderate framed, heavy haired bull that will sire some excellent calves. His dam is a result from our embryo program and she, just like Cujo, is hard to fault. Cujo has high performance as well as maternal EPD’s, and the females off this guy would be exceptional.

We find the bulls are able to develop and mature better, so they are ready to work to their full capacity. These bulls can handle more females, plus maintain themselves better.

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus, Charolais & Simmental Associations unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

PEDIGREE ESTIMATES

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

HEALTH

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

GUARANTEE

Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the breed associations with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.
