Welcome to our 21st annual spring bull sale. Now into the third decade, we are extremely proud to have supplied sires to our many loyal customers adding value to their bottom line.

As most of you know, our calving has been in a late summer-fall born program. It is one of convenience for us as the children are grown and doing their own thing; therefore, calving on grass has helped George and myself manage the herd at a reasonable pace.

This move has also helped our customers, as these bulls have an extra age advantage and maturity to cover more cows on more ground. We are excited about our bull offering this season as they are stouter and aptly more uniform.

Our longtime friend and sale partner, Mike from Springside Farms add the yearling component. They offer a powerful lineup with several herd bull prospects in the group. These bulls are here at the farm and available for viewing.

Welcome to the 21st edition of the Sandan Charolais Bull Sale with Springside Farms and an invitation to evaluate and purchase some of the finest Charolais bulls on offer this spring.

For decades, the sale barn at Sandan has been home to hundreds and hundreds of bulls supplied to commercial and purebred breeders across the continent. Founded by Don and Sandra and carried forward by Ursula and George and now with Mike at Springside, the Charolais tradition continues.

2018 brings the best lineup of bulls ever…bigger, better and more of them…a greater selection of money making sires to choose from!

The Sandan portion of summer and fall born bulls is by far the most uniform group produced…right in frame and performance values, rugged with lots of hair and scrotal. Raised on grass for the most part, until put on a growing ration in late fall to insure longevity and soundness. These bulls can cover more cows and all types of ground.

Mike’s offering comes to you “loaded” with breeder bulls in the group. They are diverse in both type and add new fresh genetics for an out-cross edge. The Springside program is competitive with several individual lots exhibiting that competitive appearance… a lineup no one should over look… a trip worth the drive!

“Charo-nomics” has never been so evident in sale yards across our nation…Charolais influence adds pounds and market-topping pay weight! The only problem we have is that demand greatly exceeds supply and greater profits establish demand!

It is with great excitement that Springside Farms invites you to the 21st annual Sandan Bull Sale. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to partner with Sandan Charolais for the last four years and truly appreciate the hospitality that Ursula, George, and the entire Corpataux family have shown.

I have been a Charolais breeder for over 30 years and never before have I seen such a demand for Charolais genetics. Last fall I was privileged to watch some of my customers’ calves sell and proud to see them top the market. These calves were heavier, and demanded a greater premium than any other calves on sale day. Whether silver, tan, or tan white-faced calves, they were stamped with Charolais consistency. It is a fact that these calves also performed better in the feedlot. This is why more and more beef producers are utilizing Charolais genetics and the demand for bulls is increasing.

This past year has seen some exciting changes at Springside Farms and we are ramping up for another awesome bull sale in 2018. We have expanded our bullpen while still maintaining the quality product that we have always strived for. To do this, we sought to diversify the cowherd and went in search of some new genetics from quality Charolais breeders. It was in 1991 that I met Sylvan Martens and was impressed by his knowledge of Charolais genetics, pedigrees, and optimal mating of bloodlines. Martens Cattle Company has become a well-respected name in the Charolais industry, having bred the 2016 Agribition Grand Champion Charolais bull PCC Rome. It has truly been an honor and privilege to consider Sylvan a colleague. When the option to purchase a part of his program was available, I jumped at the opportunity. Through expanding the genetics of our herd, I feel like we have stepped our program up to the next level. We have a bull to suit everyone’s BUDGET at this year’s sale, whether you’re a commercial beef producer or a purebred breeder.

We have been fortunate to achieve such success raising cattle that excel on the show road; however, we want to emphasize that they are also going to be strong producers in your herd and out in the pasture. We strive to offer only the highest quality animals, and truly believe that it is about value, not price. As much as this is a cattle business, it is a people business. We stand behind our product and are confident that our bulls will perform in your breeding program.

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no bybidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Phone, Mail, Wire Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives.

Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance: Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors: All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.
