As always, two years go by very fast, I must be getting old.
More rain then we have ever seen in this area, with lots of acres not seeded. Crops are very late and we hope for a long and dry fall.
Gordon’s family have all left home. Spencer, is working for a fuel company and helping on the farm in his spare time; Meagan is still teaching in Maidstone, SK and Justine is finishing up school as a radiation therapist.
Shirley is still nursing and keeping us all healthy and Gordon keeps the farm running.
Our crew is expanding. Jim, Kari and the granddaughters have moved back to Imperial. Jim, Grant and Spencer have expanded the grain side of the farm.
Grant and Lindsay were married in July and moved closer to home in Watrous. Grant still works for FeedRite and helps out here on the farm when he’s available, while Lindsay is kept busy teaching. Kirbie works for Campotex and is getting married next year to Preston, a very nice young man.
Sharon’s business keeps her very busy, while I, like Gordon, give advice and try to keep things going smoothly.
Our Hereford bull sales were very good this spring, the best we’ve ever had and most went to commercial cattlemen.
The cattle selling are like our other sales have been, with several herd bulls selling and the bred heifers are the best we have and the heifer calves are right off the top.
Gordon and I think there are several show calves in the mix. When we show our cattle, they are competitive for the amount of time we put into them. Thank you to Jeromy and Arden Charlton, Kurtis and Kaitlyn Reid for doing an amazing job for us in a short time. We couldn’t do it without them.
I’d like to thank our families for their help and the staff at T BAR C for all their hard work. And last, but not least, the many cattlemen and women from across the country for their friendship... we truly enjoy the phone calls and visits.
