Principal's Letter
Dear parents
I can hardly believe that Term 2 is over. It only seems like yesterday that I was welcoming everyone back from winter break. And that is of course because the term has been packed with numerous activities and events. Our students have participated in sports tournaments, cultural festivals and academic competitions, showcasing their talents and skills to each other and to the community.
It has been our honor and pleasure to welcome so many parents into school this term to share with you the wonderful achievements of your children. I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff who work tirelessly to provide all our students with a safe and engaging learning environment. I would like to thank them for all they do, every day, to help and support the educational growth of your children.
I would like to finish by wishing you all Ramadan Kareem. As we enter the holy month, the school is preparing for a time of reflection, generosity, and unity. We take this time as an opportunity to help our students think about the importance of charity, self-discipline, and spiritual growth. It is a time when we aim to foster a sense of unity and compassion and I hope that it brings you and your loved ones peace, joy, and blessings.
Yours in education,
Carolyn Bailey PrincipalEarly Childhood

The Big Match!
We had an action-packed afternoon of sport as our Middle and High School football and basketball teams competed against ENS at the SZPAG Gym and sports field. Our students made us very proud with their courageous efforts! We won a few matches, we lost a few matches, and we drew a few matches, but the main takeaway was how much fun people had and the excellent team spirit and enthusiasm. Our students showed real passion for the sport and wonderful sportsmanship. This was the best part of the event, and we know with continued practice and drive, they will go from strength to strength.
Elective Fair
On the 17th March, we hosted our first SZPAG Elective Fair, to help students and parents make informed choices about their elective options in High School, as well as their SZPA Graduation Pathways and Elective flight path for MOE Equivalency. We were impressed by the level of interest in AP level courses, which are designed by the US College Board, and for which students receive external accreditation. These are challenging courses, and it is great to see our students aspiring to achieve at a high level.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended and who took the time to discuss their daughter’s choices and future paths with us; it is such a pleasure to help our students realize their ambitions.

Our students displayed and demonstrated the projects that they have been working on in their science lessons: from lava lamps and non-Newtonian fluids to growing crystals and discovering the iron in the cereal we eat; there was plenty to see, and the students were excited to share their work with the High School students, their teachers, and most of all, their parents. Thank you to everyone who came along to see your daughter’s creations and to celebrate her learning with us! Well done to the winners for such fabulous ideas and execution of the projects –seriously impressive

Our students loved having their parents join them for these fun activities, and we thank everyone who came to join us celebrate the wonderful number of Pi.
Reward Events
Secondary Reward Events took place in the week before spring break, and this time we took High School to MotionGate and Middle School to Ferrari World. A brilliant day of fun and exhilarating rides was had by all… and they kept us entertained on the buses too! Again, over 90% of students qualified to attend the events, which illustrates how seriously they are taking admission to Reward Events each half term. We are very proud of our students who are committed to good punctuality and attendance, working hard, submitting all of their work, and behaving well throughout the day in order to achieve these Rewards each half term. Let’s keep it up!

Our AP students were given their first taste of a College Board exam this month as they sat their mock assessments for their APs Our students in AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Seminar, AP Calculus, AP Computer Principles, AP World History, and AP Human Geography put their exam skills to the test! They all performed to the best of their ability, with some excellent results. These exams serve as excellent preparation for May, and the feedback pupils receive at this stage will be constructive and helpful as they study for the finals and the second mock exam after Ramadan. We’d like to say a big “Well Done” to everyone who worked so hard for these mock exams.
Emirati Children’s Day
A lovely day was had in school to celebrate Emirati Children’s Day! Another lovely event, as always.
PSAT10 and SAT
All Grade 10 students sat their first PSAT exams in March, and hopefully the results of these will be helpful as they being preparations for the real SAT in Grade 11 and 12 Our first batch of students have also sat the new Digital SAT this month, which they all agreed was much more straightforward than the paper version! Jacky Boulos Head of ArabicHaq Al Laila
The Haq Al Laila (Qarqe’an) celebration is considered part of the authentic Emirati heritage that has been passed down to generations Despite the development of Haq Al Laila’s clothes, sweets, and decorations, it still retains that traditional splendor with which grandmothers and mothers recall their childhood, so we see adults sharing happiness with their children when celebrating this occasion. Here are some snapshots from the participation of elementary students in Haq Al Laila celebration.
Emirati Children’s Day

The United Arab Emirates celebrates Emirati Children's Day on March 15th of each year. Every year, the Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls organizes many activities that help enhance children’s personality and enable them to exercise their rights in the school community. We seek to promote cooperation and social interaction among children by organizing group games and recreational activities, encouraging children to express their opinion, listening to their opinion on issues that are important to them in school and society, and enhancing their self-confidence and sense of belonging to the school community. These activities aim to develop the child's personality, enable him/her to blend into the school community and the Emirati society in general, and encourage him/her to actively participate in building the future of UAE.

Emirati Children's Day is a great celebration of the wealth of the future, which the UAE turned into an annual national celebration to raise awareness of children's rights. In this celebration, Grade 6 students designed panels for the day, explaining through them the definition of Emirati Children's Day and a reminder of their rights.

Mother’s Day:
Mother's Day is a special day for all children and families, as they celebrate their love and respect for their mothers. EC students put together a range of activities and designed beautiful cards to celebrate this beautiful day. They expressed their love for their mothers by writing some beautiful phrases. Some of them wrote to their mother: “Thank you, Mom, for your constant love and care.”

Some wrote, "I love you, Mom."
Therefore, Mother's Day is an opportunity to express love and gratitude to mothers, and to all women who play various maternal roles in our lives, whether they are mothers, nannies, teachers, sisters, or anyone else who represents motherhood to us.
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms.
Arabic Language Department: “Arabi”

Program:
As part of the Sheikh Zayed Private Academy's initiative to enhance Arabic language skills, the “Arabi” Program has been implemented in KG1 as well, where students began to learn reading, writing and conversation skills in an interesting and fun way through the application of various educational activities that help students achieve their goals.
KG1 students have become able to read a group of sight words and short stories and are able to identify the skill that a student seeks to reach in an excellent way.

International Women’s Day -March 8th:
No words can express the achievements that women do for the sake of the renaissance of the entire nation. The greatest proof of that is the great achievements of the Mother of the Nation (Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak) - may God protect her. On this day, students expressed their love and support for her through messages addressed to Her Highness.

Reading Month:
Reading is a passion, and an art. Reading is food for the soul and a medicine to heal. Reading is constructive, uplifting and upgrading. On the occasion of the Arab Reading Month, and in order to encourage students to research and investigate, Grade 5 students presented samples of various readings of books and authors that they liked.
The Launch of Season Seven of the Arab Reading Challenge/ 2023
We are always keen to consolidate the relationship between books and students, so in response of the reading challenge initiative launched by the Ruler of Dubai / Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, that stems from a wise vision which is “ “Instilling the love of reading in the hearts of young people is synonymous with instilling the foundations of progress and excellence in our countries ” , and in line with the activities of the Reading Month under the slogan "UAE Reads", students participated in the reading challenge. They completed the first stage of the Arab Reading Challenge (the red passport) and registered the passports that were summarized on the Arab Reading Challenge website. They then started the second stage, which is the green passport and reading ten books and summarizing them in order to complete the journey of the Arab Reading Challenge.
Enhancing Conversation Skills in Arabic Lessons:

Conversation is an important way to develop students' thinking and enhance their selfconfidence It constitutes one of the most important communicative language skills and is the second skill of the four basic language skills, so we were keen to integrate it in Arabic lessons. Grade 7 students therefore chose topics to speak about, and their conversations were evaluated according to the speaking standards. They showed great interaction with the topics raised, being related to their reality and daily life.

Students’ Participation in the Innovation and Development Committee of “Kamkalima” Platform
Grade 10 student "Anbar Khan” and Grade 7A student "Amna Khaled Al-Zaabi" participated in the Innovation and Development Committee of the Kamkalima platform, which aims to:
- Creating a role model for a generation armed with the skills of the twenty-first century.
- Developing students' ability to communicate effectively in Arabic and make decisions.
- Students' participation in decision-making and problem-solving
- Promoting the use of Arabic educational technology among students in schools

Reading Festival in the Month of Reading:
In the National Reading Month, the Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls decided to hold a reading festival under the slogan "I Read with My Family", to enhance the bond of students and their families with books, and to intensify the initiatives and programs that promote their culture and knowledge. Our students delved into reading in a corner called (I delve into reading), and they went through a unique experience with their own books. They spoke about this to us in the (A Book and its Impact) event and shared with us their creativity in designing book separators, which were presented as a gift in a cultural competition They also established their virtual library within the (I read with My Family) event and wrote wonderful stories in the activity (I Write My Story with My Pen), which included creations in which they incorporated the occasion of (Mother's Day). Students also chose literary works for us by Emirati celebrities and talented writers in the (Emirati Writers) corner We shall not also forget the theater, as they performed scenes from plays they read in front of us. Finally, the biggest event was the parents sharing with us a new reading experience with the (Reading Café), where the main dish (the book) was served along with a cup of coffee
Islamic Education Department
Prophet’s Instructions regarding Mothers”
Under the slogan "My Prophet Commanded me to Respect My Mother" and coinciding with the world's celebration of Mother's Day during this month, elementary students created cards in which they expressed their love for their mothers as the Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, commanded us, and as they learned from the lesson on respecting parents. Students also applied the rules of respecting parents with their parents at home
The Holy Month of Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan is one of the most important months of the Hijri year, which is characterized by harmony and love among people, and commitment to fasting, prayer, and closeness to Allah
As for EC students, they usually feel excited and happy just by talking about the month of Ramadan, and they show their readiness for this month in many ways, such as decorating homes with Ramadan decorations and carrying lanterns, and many of them look forward to enjoying beautiful moments with their families and friends.
Elementary students welcomed the blessed month of Ramadan with joy and pleasure and exchanged congratulations with their colleagues and teachers on the advent of this blessed month. They also designed beautiful cards in which they expressed their joy of this holy month

Islamic teachers prepared interesting and useful activities for students, such as: My Diary in Ramadan, The Good Deeds in Ramadan, and the Ramadan Tree. This is so that students learn how to increase their rewards in Ramadan and know what they must do during the holy month.

“The
Students’ Projects on Hajj
Grade 9 students designed a diagram of the rituals of Hajj, showing the places that pilgrims visit, the actions that they perform in each of the rituals, in order, and identifying their diaries.
Islamic Education Exhibition:

The Islamic Education Department has organized the "Nafahat Imaniya- Sparks of Faith" exhibition that includes the works and projects of students The exhibition was full of diversity and included the project "From the Masterpieces of Quran” in which students had the chance to select verses, then recite them with tajwid, extract the overall meaning and link them to reality.
It also included the "Ramadan Lanterns" project, which aims to promote the values of the blessed month of Ramadan in the life of students and link this month with the customs and traditions of people in the world.
It also included the "Creative Thinking in Islam" project, which aims to design innovations with an Islamic perspective that will benefit the world
Social Studies Department
International Women’s Day:
International Women's Day is a special day because it is the day that all peoples celebrate in honor and glorification of the successes and innovations of women in all fields and paths. On this occasion, Grade 9 students, with the help of various technological programs, prepared a booklet in which they compare the role of women before and after the union, citing examples of pioneering Emirati women. Grades 6 and 7 students participated in this day by researching influential and inspiring international female personalities/figures who were known for their achievements and designing paintings for them in Canvas program.

Applying Social Studies Skills:
Grades 6 and 7 students are applying the skill of research and investigation in various topics related to the local, regional and global realities, such as researching the recent earthquake that hit the world and its effects, and collecting information about earthquakes in terms of (their concept, how they occur, their impact on human life and the surrounding environment, preventive measures to reduce their impact, the history of earthquakes, the most destructive ones, the latest earthquakes, the seismometer, the history of earthquakes in the UAE, and the contributions of the UAE to emergency relief for other countries in cases of earthquakes), as well as research on the types of minerals and their various uses. This is done with the aim of developing research and analytical skills, critical thinking, and innovation among students

Digital Innovation
Embracing chatGPT
As you know, we at the school are always striving to provide the best possible education for our students. In keeping with this goal, we are excited to announce that we will be integrating ChatGPT into our students' learning.
For those who are unfamiliar, ChatGPT is a large language model trained by OpenAI. It has the ability to generate text in response to prompts, making it an incredibly powerful tool for a wide range of applications, including language translation, writing, and even answering questions.
We understand that this integration may raise some concerns for parents. Rest assured, we have taken great care to consider the ethics of using ChatGPT in our classrooms and also how to teach our students about its ethical use too. We believe that technology can be a valuable tool for enhancing learning, but we must also be mindful of its potential risks and limitations.
We also understand that some parents may have concerns about the potential impact of ChatGPT on their children's education. While it is true that technology can never replace the value of face-to-face interaction between teachers and students, we believe that ChatGPT can provide an invaluable supplement to the learning experience.
By using ChatGPT in our classrooms, we hope to provide our students with new and exciting ways to engage with course material, as well as to develop their critical thinking and problemsolving skills We also believe that ChatGPT can be a valuable tool for improving accessibility, particularly for students with disabilities or language barriers.
We know that change can be scary, but we hope that you will join us in embracing this new technology as a positive step forward in education. With your support and collaboration, we can work together to ensure that our students are receiving the best possible education, both now and in the future.
From the Inclusion Department
We are excited to share with you the results of our recent survey on the use of assistive technology in the classroom. As educators, we are always striving to find ways to better support our students and ensure that they have access to the curriculum in a way that works best for them In order to gain a deeper understanding of how technology can assist in this effort, we surveyed both teachers and students about their experiences.
We were pleased to find that the vast majority of teachers and students surveyed reported using some form of assistive technology to support learning. The most common tools mentioned were text-to-speech software, screen readers, and speech recognition software. Students reported that these tools were incredibly helpful in allowing them to access the curriculum more easily and to demonstrate their knowledge in a way that worked for them.
We believe that the results of our survey demonstrate the important role that technology can play in creating more inclusive and accessible classrooms. We look forward to continuing to explore the possibilities of assistive technology and to finding ways to make it more readily available to all students who need it.
