Strawberries

We are now into full supply of Irish strawberries from two of our local berry suppliers. Both quality and availability is strong at the minute.

Avocado

Currently transitioning from winter origins (Northern Hemisphere) to summer origins (Southern Hemisphere). As a result, there is a challenge with the consistency of internal pressures on our RTE avocados. We are working closely with our supplier to limit the impact to the end customer as much as possible however there is a possibility we will see more inconsistent pressures for the next few weeks.

Blood Oranges

The season for blood oranges has finished and no more stock is available.

Lemons

We are expecting to transition to southern Hemisphere fruits in the next two weeks. Rains in source countries and then vessel delays meant there was a three-week delay in southern hemisphere product arriving.

Melons

All melons have now transitioned to Almeria product. There are currently no availability issues, however, it remains a challenging part of the year. We expect to transition to Murcia sourced products mid-June, planting here was delayed due to heavy rains earlier in the year, hence the delay in the season starting.

Tomatoes

Availability is somewhat limited across the range tomato lines via Holland. Beef, cherry, plum etc. We do not expect there to be shortages however and we will manage this with our Dutch suppliers where required.

Planting for new season potatoes has been fully completed as of the end of May. The slight bit of rain experienced in some areas recently was welcomed by growers as conditions have been extremely dry.

Chilean Onions

Chilean onions are now finished for the season. Large Dutch onion is available in its place. Sysco Code 497159.

Tenderstem Broccoli

Salad Potatoes Chipping Potatoes

The current salad potato season is due to finish up soon. There are no availability issues forecasted however it may be possible that the quality is slightly diminished on occasion due to the age of the potatoes. Additional checks and grading is being put in place to ensure customers receive the best quality product possible.

Celery

Volume coming from Spain is limited at present. Recent bad weather and flooding is causing there to be a gap in production.

Tenderstem broccoli is facing issues due to endof-season pest problems in Spain, although we are expecting better market availability as the transition to alternate countries of origins occurs. The season in these countries has already started and stocks are available from other European countries. We have tapped into some Kenyan supply to cover the gaps however there have been rains there recently which has caused there to be intermittent gaps in supply.

No issues anticipated with quality at present. Planting of new season is complete. Crops have been progressing well and the rain of late has just been right on time for a lot of the earlier emerged crops that were starting to show signs of drought stress.

Chervil

Potential for limited supply here across the next two weeks. Customer impact expected to be minimal.

Peppers

The Spanish and Moroccan seasons are coming to a swift conclusion. Dutch product is available however, red, yellow and orange peppers are slightly low in volume and in some cases, backward colour, we may need to manage this through concessions on colours. In any case, impact to the end customer is expected to be minimal. Supply of green peppers is fine.
