For the third year, the best students participated in the Finnish Nationals, held this year in Kouvola. Three club members also took their debate skills to New York City to participate in UNIS-UN (the United Nations International School and the UN) on the topic of Sustainability: Balancing People, Planet, & Profit.

While rare, it sometimes happens that high quality theater in English comes to Helsinki and that was the case in May 2015 when Paula Salminen’s, 13 SUNKEN YEARS from the EDINBURGH FESTIVAL (part of the Made-inScotland Showcase) performed at the National Theatre in Helsinki. Salminen’s award-winning play was chosen among many entrants. Three women from three generations are tied by blood and by the river that runs through their remote town. One day, Eva’s mother disappears. Salminen’s poignant and haunting drama explores ideas of family and destiny and the journey that brings them together.
