Young people visiting Purton
Middleleaze Drive
From Mrs S Bevington, clerk to Purton Parish Council
From Mrs HD Wiggington, Camton Road, Middleleaze
Purton Parish Council would like village hail car park, village centre to draw to the attention of parents (Red House) and Play Close are and guardians some problems be- the main gathering points. It is known that some of the ing experienced in Purton by youths that gather in the evenings youths that gather come from West Swindon, presumably because and sometimes during the day. It is understandable that young they attend Bradon Forest School people wish to meet their friends and wish to meet their friends from out of school, and such meetings Purton. The Parish Council is conare fine except for the unreason- cerned that parents may think that able behaviour of some. Purton their children are going to friends' homes, some no doubt do, but others don't, they hang around the streets and are not always well behaved. In fact the moral behaviour of three girls from West Swindon who seemed to spend most of their summer holidays in the public toilet in Purton village hall car park, leaves a lot to be desired. The Parish Council fears that sooner or later things will get out of hand and one these youngsters WASHING MACHINE REPAIRS will get seriously hurt. If your child is a regular visitor to Purton • Same Day Service please ensure you know where he / • Guaranteed Repairs she is going, who their friends are, For a friendly, helpful service, call J. Martin. and what they are doing. It is Tel: 694930 1 Alnwick, Toothill simply irresponsible to drop them off in the middle of the village and leave them to their own devices.
As residents of Camton Road off Middleleaze Drive, we agree totally with the remarks made by Mrs C Hill of Pearl Road (September Link). For the car owners of Camton Road, Kilben Close and Maldwyn Close, it is necessary to nose out into Middleleaze Drive a good three quarters car length to see if it is clear to drive out. This is due to bad road design and overhanging trees and shrubs. I am amazed there have not been more accidents, especially as Middleleaze Drive is used in the main by drivers using it as Brands Hatch. Please, please can anything be done to prevent a serious accident? How about a petition?
