Work in progress at Toothill Church
The congregation at Toothill Church has now been out of its building and worshipping in Toothill Community Centre for three months, reports Revd George Gibson, Minister for Toothill Church.
Our rebuilding programme is a little behind schedule and there's a risk we may not be back in time for Christmas. Whatever happens, well do our level best to have special Christmas services for the people of Toothill, and will let you know nearer the time.
We are enjoying being the Community Centre. The committee and staff have been very kind to us and Sunday worship has been lively, with us being in a smaller space and having a lower ceiling for the sound of our singing to bounce off.
Being out of the Church has also given a more informal feel to our worship - which we plan to keep going when we move back home. All summer we have been seeing a gentle increase in the size of our congregation. So we are happy to report that building work is in progress both at the Church building and amongst the Church people.
When we do return were planning to celebrate with a big coming home service. Watch this space for details.
Did you know that living in Toothill could save you money?
Rosie Jones writes: Credit unions are community banks which are run by local people. Joining Toothill Credit Union encourages weekly savings and makes available cheap loans to its members, along with other benefits. People save from lOp or 50p to £5 or £10 per week - as much or as little as you like. Credit unions are regulated by law and insured, so your savings are safe and the maximum interest which can be charged on a loan is only 1% per month.
After the positive response to the article in the September Link magazine, Toothill Credit Union would like to welcome its new members and remind readers not to miss out on getting the most out of your local saving and loans club.
If you are interested in finding out more about Toothill Credit Union, come along to the collection point on Thursdays, between 7pm and 8pm at Toothill Community Centre, or contact Sherie on 421467 (evenings only) or Bill on 487216.
The credit union is open to anyone who lives in Toothill, if you have any spare time and want to get involved, volunteers are also welcome.
