You could borrow a gardening book to plan next year's campaign, or a travel book to dream about next year's holiday, or just escape for a while with the latest blockbuster. If you've always meant to join the library but are not sure how to go about it, nothing could be simpler. All we need to see is something with your name and address on it, for instance a driver's licence, family allowance book, a bill or a letter. It's completely free to join and if you have a membership card for another computerised branch you can use that card at West Swindon Library. Anyone under 16 will need a parent or guardian to sign their membership card for them, as well as proof of address.
Teen Week Readers aged 13 to 19 who borrow a book on their own card during the week 21 to 26 October will be entered into a special prize draw.
The winner will be announced at our Cyber Cafe teenage open day, Wednesday 23 October, 2pm to 8pm. It should be an exciting event with special guests and music for all tastes. Call in for a detailed programme. Come and check out what the library offers. The proposed 'Youth Quake' teen magazine sounds exciting (see story on page 3). We have asked Kerry Porter and Teresa Barclay who have come up with the idea to come to the teen evening where interested young people will be able to talk to them about the project.
Some new books to watch out for Tessa Barclay Saturday Girl. Tom Sharpe The Midden. The usual rumbustious mix we've Lovely saga set in the 1930s. Frederick Forsyth Icon. Political come to expect.
