Lucy Morris Editor-in-chief Welcome to this month’s World Encounter Travel October Issue, and welcome to the full swing of the autumn season!

As the crisp autumn air settles in and the world transforms into a canvas of warm hues, October beckons us to embark on new journeys. This month offers a unique blend of experiences for the intrepid traveler, from harvest festivals to breathtaking foliage tours.

October is synonymous with stunning fall colors, and there’s no better time to witness nature’s artistic display. New England in the United States remains a classic destination, with its rolling hills ablaze in reds, oranges, and golds. But don’t overlook the equally magnificent autumn scenery in Japan’s Hokkaido or Germany’s Black Forest.

This month brings a cornucopia of harvest festivals worldwide.

From the grape-stomping revelry of Italy’s wine regions to the pumpkin-filled extravaganzas in rural America, October is ripe with opportunities to indulge in local cuisines and time-honored traditions.
